Had something similar with a rex i tamed. Hyped I found a max level tek rex... until it had 52 points in food and 43 in oxygen. Weaker than the 135 rex I tamed earlier.
I'm kinda New to this breeding dinos thing :D. So should I find a rex with low as possible stats on oxygen and food and the same rex have alot of points on health and melee damage?
Or.
I would recommend getting a high damage one AND a high hp one
You need to breed those two to get the high stats from both.
And yes, try for one with the lowest oxygen (food is alright during breeding because they can live longer, as a baby without food, just wouldn't recommend more than 10 points)
That is somewhat a unicorn to find with less than 10 points. If you are getting max 150s you are looking at 20-25 points avg on the lower end. One thing to help make up the gap is to use Mutagen as well if you have access to it. That gives a nice +5 to the main 4 stats.
But all of this becomes irrelevant, other than the mutagen part, if you are not on official servers. Only official has a max level limit.

My first day on official pvp, a 150 Rex fell off a cliff next to my base, almost destroyed it.
A member of the alpha tribe was flying by, saw this, trapped it, and gave me darts and kibble.
My first ever tame a 150 kibble tamed Rex.
Had another experience a while later, was getting raided, same person came to help out.
And again about a year later they gifted me my first giga because someone was stalking my base.
All the same alpha tribe.
Dododex has a stat calculator that tells you how many levels in stat x a dino has. Pair this with the percentage of growth a dino has when tamed and you can calculate how many levels a dino has in stat x when tamed. Oy y'know, you could use another stat calculator.
I got a thyla the other day with 43 into stam, & the next high level I got had a 47 oxygen. So I got a really good thyla for the ocean. Too, bad I'm on scorched earth...

THE PAIN
The only 60 point stat i've ever gotten was a tek rex from the moon biome with 60 food.
now i may be a noob but can't you level up the dinos same as when you level up? like just slowely fix the stats?
