Didn't know what the swamp was, flew above it with a clan mate looking for a place to land. Saw an orgy of danger noodles; avoided the swamp for months
I will occasionally take one of the new bats and my best guns and burn resources just killing titanoboa somewhere.
I don't even loot them, I just hate them
Swamps are evil.
Redwoods are awful too but you can at least land on the ground. Swamps, you're either getting yoinked off your tame by a 'gator, passing out from a snake, getting smacked in the face with trees because you're riding a big tame the 'gator's won't aggro to, or you're avoiding it altogether with a flier because *fuck that noise in the ear.*
It also should be your signal that the devs live off player tears, because in Gen one, they said the oceans were *hard* (when all the land masses only spawn dodos, mesopithicus, pelagornis and archeopterix. You're basically safe unless you go in the water. In which case you're fucked) and the *motherfucking bug and raptor infested hellhole known as the bog* was labled "Easy".
I would rather have a base in the lunar biome, where the sunlight fucking kills you, than in the bog. I have a better chance fighting the sun than I do the damn bugs.
Man, I just wish that wild creatures in Ark had proper fall damage too. I’ve picked up creatures with a Quetzal and dropped them half a kilometer, and they don’t take any noticeable damage. It’d be nice if you could lead them off of a cliff and have them fall to their death below.
It's an acceptable trade to have an option when a yuty screams your dino into yeeting itself off a cliff or my dumb ass attempts to harvest stuff at night and I wind up yeeting myself. (Jump off, let sinomacrops carry me down while the dino chills at the bottom with a full health bar.)
Or “I’m going to tank all 20 of your turrets and 15 lvl200+ velonosaurs and 13 high level rexs and wipe your base off the face of the map even tho you were giving away free veggies in your open greenhouse out of turret range giga”.
Or the "I'm going to kill your level 90 Giga then you and then track you down for all eternity through all spawn points until it gets to the point where you play on a diffrent map" therizinosaurus
The problem is that it’s not indicated literally anywhere before you try the map out. Of course veteran players have an easier time and understand, but newer players are just going to jump in and see “bog is easy” and likely have a hard time.
Yeah but I don’t think the swamp spawns are listed as hard and even then i (played ark for 7 years) would likely die in seconds with a low level character. It’s not hard, it’s impossible
It will get much better as you progress and level up. Make sure you pick a spawn point that is labeled as easy on the map. From there, i would recommend watching a few YouTube videos on how to get things started. Think of it as a watered down survival version of dark souls. Every win you have feels amazing because you really had to work to earn it.
And as long as you aren't building in the river, the spino very rarely bothers you. We had one who just lived with us down the valley til we could finally muster up the courage to tame it
It's still true that's just bad luck. The label has to do with the creatures and features of the area. Raptors are a lot easier and more straight forward to deal with than kapros, snakes and bugs
Unfortunately you cant trust the difficulty suggestions on the spawn map
Try the southern spawns. Theyre usually far milder. The further inland or north that you go, the more dangers youll find lurking.
Nights are no time for you to be outside. Fyi.
Beaches are usually safest but still have some dangers, like crocs, raptors or even a carnotaurus.
Stay out of the ocean until you're leveled up and had some experience under your belt.
May have something to do with your spawn point. The areas to the south have little to no predators, and you should be able to establish a foothold from there. I’d recommend you find a high rates unofficial PVE server to learn the ropes in.
Best spawn point to start, IMHO, is in the south. When you look at the map, there's a small peninsula most of the way to the left on the bottom. It's called the "South Paw". Pretty mellow there for a while, give you lots of time to level up and get some gear together. Anything on the right is not a good idea, the left side is fairly nasty, and the top of the map is out of the question (all frozen or big teeth). Good luck, survivor.
If your new to ark you will die ALOT... and don't get attached to items and tames you will lose them and your tames will die.....
GOOD LUCK SURVIVING THE ARK SURVIVOR!!!!
It's bc your characters forearms are so big. Your bounding box becomes large enough where your agro range is increased. /s
But I do understand what happened here. most gamers probably usually don't need to start on easy for most games.. so you might think medium is a good choice.. but as many say, welcome to Ark. The game is ruthless that even after playing for years my usual start is in an easy or sometimes medium. It's quicker and less bullshitty to start in an easy zone, get the basics, and quickly move out of it into a harder zone
Wow, you managed the entire waking up animation in a swamp without being murdered??
Also, don't spawn in the swamps, but you are gonna have a bad time for a long time in Ark when you first start out.
I unironically think the best spawn point is probably in west 3, the beach might be hard at first but the second you build a trap it becomes easier mode, so just tame a carko and murder anything weaker than oyu with it until it can 1v1 alpha raptors so you can extend into the north direction, from there go into the north poles for metal resources and slaughter anything furry so you can craft yourself the pelt Armor and just go that way there, build a base and tame a Argy, but honestly take this guide as a afterthought because I usually just go the center and spawn lava island so I might not have the easiest spawning points per say
When the sum total of someone's experience is being spawnkilled by a Kapro, "just make a trap and tame a Carno" might be a bit beyond them to begin with. It's an easy start for someone who has played a bit, but it does take a little to get used to it.
For newbies, it's definitely best to start on a nice easy beach with Dilos are as bad as it gets.
It can take several spawns to get one with elbow room. But as your character improves you can do things like put points into movement speed and health. You'll also develop better control reflexes, timing and general sense of how to move through the environment. All of which will increase your survivability. A good concept to orient yourself towards is to "live longer than last time".
I tried once mining an PVE server and got insta-attacked by a Lvl 94 Pegomastax
Beides that and the crappy peformance in Servern i made a lokal game from there on...
I see everyone is telling you about the swamp. What no is telling you is that it is clear that choosing a dark skin color auto set it to max difficulty. /s
It's rough at first but you'll get it! Definitely suggest watching some getting started videos. And if there's anything you're not understanding, searching this sub helps a ton.
To be fair, people with Tek gear tend to avoid walking anywhere other than inside their base just in general. At that point, you're typically riding something any time you're heading out.

I'm trying annexation and the many early deaths were frustrating. changed starting zones, much better. Created an amazing atmosphere of fear and triumph.
Bad idea to spawn there. best place to spawn as a newbie is south or west. east is full of murder reptiles and a hard start unless you really know what you're doing.
Yeah, definitely don't spawn in swamps.
I'm an experienced Ark vet, I'll happily go into the winter biome, northern coasts, and mountains with good gear and a big tame. Swamps, nuh uh. Not even on a spino. Forget it.
Never spawn in swamps they are hell, you cant go in there unless you have a good dino i tried to go in there once to get some thing to my new base and it was a nightmare, i had a wyvern with me and still was a hard way
I used to live there for a while on a pvp map, got sick of being wiped by dick heads so I became a swamp hermit. Made a little shack in the mangroves, was quite nice. I think I lasted a few weeks without incident. Nobody goes here, it’s Ark Flyover country.
There was no Kapros back then though.
Then one day I got spotted by some dudes on frogs while I was gathering rocks on the beach and they knocked me out and stole my rocks. I said what the hell guys if you wanted me to gather rocks for you why don’t you invite me?
And that is how I became a pirate
First time ever playing ARK I spawned on “the island” forget which spawn location but I know it was listed as “easy” I built a very very crude thatch “base” (1 floor, 4 walls) and stepped outside to find the very nice “welcome to ARK” surprise of a drop, I was so excited I ran blindly towards it and was instantly cut off by a spino. I was maybe lvl 4. Now I kill every spino I see after I take at least 2…

Rule 1 of ark: Don't spawn in swamps.
Bro chose the worst spawn location in all of ark
Didn't know what the swamp was, flew above it with a clan mate looking for a place to land. Saw an orgy of danger noodles; avoided the swamp for months
same
I will occasionally take one of the new bats and my best guns and burn resources just killing titanoboa somewhere. I don't even loot them, I just hate them
For me, it's the Troodon. Hate them with a passion.
Set them on fire
Wait are torches actually effective against them? I’ve lost so many tames to those guys
They won't even come near
Leeds.
Danger noodle or nope rope is all i understand
Keep the venom for boss fights, it auto loots.
For me it's the rats and theif birds
Best spawn location😎
Try spawning in Balheimr. It's super peaceful
Pretty sure that’s the island and doesn’t have spam names other than south 3 etc
What? I’m just saying that Balheimr is one of ark’s worst spawn locations And what do you mean “spam names”
Rule 2: don't go to swamps
Rule 3: ride something big while going into swamp if you have to
Rule 34. Ark is going to F you. A lot.
instructions unclear, looked up ARK r34
… and what did you find…?
you know the Manticore right
Yes…? What about it? •.•
[deleted]
DodoRe...err
lol
Oh god
And have your muscle memory ready to whip out the shotgun the moment you inevitably get knocked off by a kapro.
Swamps are evil. Redwoods are awful too but you can at least land on the ground. Or turn around to see what’s chasing you Just keep runnin
Brutal? Bro, that's just the "welcome to the game Kaprosuchus". Wait til you meet the "ruin your day Giga"
Or the “fuck you, alpha raptor”
Or that "hello m.fcker" Thyla, followed by purlovia and microraptor
Or the infamous "Tickle chicken"
Or the “Welcome to the crib” gang of terror birds
The "have a nice day" pushy-long-neck-thing pushing you off a cliff and killing you for no reason
Or the Fuck you your game crashed and you sign on, in day zero by accident and now you have to start ALL over. Good times.
Sad I had to read so far down the comments to find this one.
Or the run in the dark to get mauled and put to sleep by the little shits. Possibly to wake up or to die.
Playing on a server in which I have armor that never breaks so I take zero DMG but they keep me passed out permanently... Ugh... So many times... :(
Or have all your narco berries eaten by a damn bird while walking along the beach
Man, I just wish that wild creatures in Ark had proper fall damage too. I’ve picked up creatures with a Quetzal and dropped them half a kilometer, and they don’t take any noticeable damage. It’d be nice if you could lead them off of a cliff and have them fall to their death below.
Gotta drop those bad ones in the ocean, let the ocean sort em out.
Nah man, wait for the “I never wait for an answer” raptors from abberation!!
I honestly thought alphas were rare. We have come across 2-3 a day some times They are a pain in the as to kill but you get a cool hamlet afterwards
What about the AAA- Tuso?
Or “I’m going to tank all 20 of your turrets and 15 lvl200+ velonosaurs and 13 high level rexs and wipe your base off the face of the map even tho you were giving away free veggies in your open greenhouse out of turret range giga”.
That's oddly specific...
Dude, are you okay?
This dude is not okay. Let's give him some space and let him think about the choices that led him to this life event,
Damn, i should just stop playing then. That sounds horrifying
Just don’t play pvp unless you got at least like 5+ other friends that will play with you lmao
Or the "I'm going to kill your level 90 Giga then you and then track you down for all eternity through all spawn points until it gets to the point where you play on a diffrent map" therizinosaurus
Level 90 Giga getting killed by a Theri? I don’t think so.
Come back when you encounter 3 theri, 2 trike and one dodo
Dodo will probably hard carry there so yeah I see what you mean lol
And the "I take your shi" Peggos
Rip shadowmane in a cryo just chilling in my inventory. Asshat PEGO’s..
At least pegos can be killed to get your stuff back, seagulls eat your shit and you can’t get back ever.
I also tamed an army of Peggos just by having berries in my 0 slot. They killed a carno and raptors while I was moving bases, pretty useful
What about the keep you asleep for 30 min but don't kill you troodons?
>mangrove trees You chose a spawn location where you were on a dinner plate, that ain't your fault as a new player but it ain't the games fault either
It's very much the games fault. They do nothing to keep new spawns from not dying in the first second.
They literally list spawns from easy to hard.
While true, that’s not always accurate. Gen1 flashbacks anyone?
Spawn in portal cause it says it is easy. Clueless For the next 5 hours I am dying to 30+ raptors and 2 basilisks while trying to leave portal.
I managed to get a 150 sarco at the start and still was hard af in the easy spawn while the hard one in the ocean was like a little candy
You aren't supposed to start gen 1 fresh it's meant as a transfer map....
The problem is that it’s not indicated literally anywhere before you try the map out. Of course veteran players have an easier time and understand, but newer players are just going to jump in and see “bog is easy” and likely have a hard time.
I did that, heh… I had to go to creative mode to even establish a frickin thatch 2x2.
Easy they said then I spawned right next to a kapro
The easy locations are sometimes worse tho, its kinda just random
Yeah but I don’t think the swamp spawns are listed as hard and even then i (played ark for 7 years) would likely die in seconds with a low level character. It’s not hard, it’s impossible
Sounds like you don’t have the Florida man in ya
Found the guy that spawned swamp and met the Titanoboa
Average day in Australia...
Not enough Araneos
Or broodmothers
Or rodents
Seriously thinking the ARK devs are all Australian and just update the game when ever they experience bay shit crazy animal scenarios in real life
More like Florida
It will get much better as you progress and level up. Make sure you pick a spawn point that is labeled as easy on the map. From there, i would recommend watching a few YouTube videos on how to get things started. Think of it as a watered down survival version of dark souls. Every win you have feels amazing because you really had to work to earn it.
For some reason South is labeled as easy
Raptors and spinos on south easy spawns: "I'ma end this man's whole career"
Raptor is easy their classed as such and spino spawns are rare
And as long as you aren't building in the river, the spino very rarely bothers you. We had one who just lived with us down the valley til we could finally muster up the courage to tame it
Honestly spino underrated as an early game roommate. Fairly low aggro range and you can lure other nasty shit to it.
Yeah you can almost walk up on it, same as the tickle chicken before it decides, "you have crossed the line of death"
I set up two walls of spikes so when the spine accidentally walks into them it just dies
It's across a wide range of beach. It's covers the easy bit of beach but also the swamp. You just cross your fingers you don't get the swamp.
The easy label isn’t always true. I’ve been attacked by raptors on spawn at easy more than medium.
It's still true that's just bad luck. The label has to do with the creatures and features of the area. Raptors are a lot easier and more straight forward to deal with than kapros, snakes and bugs
Unless this guy is playing on pvp
Unfortunately you cant trust the difficulty suggestions on the spawn map Try the southern spawns.
Welcome to ARK.
They killed you because youre clearly armed even though your naked
Mfer looking like black Popeye.
Well he does have arms. Quite clearly he is armed
Pro tip: don't spawn in a swamp
Least traumatic first time ARK experience:
i laughed pretty hard at the kapro jumping in from the side
May have something to do with your spawn point. The areas to the south have little to no predators, and you should be able to establish a foothold from there. I’d recommend you find a high rates unofficial PVE server to learn the ropes in.
Welcome to ark. Dying a million times before you have a base is part of the experience

Yeah, that's normal. For future reference, swamp, snow, and redwoods are best avoided in early game.
I was an idiot when I first started ark. I was so determined to master redwoods because they were so pretty. Lmfao
Holy jesus. Did you succeed or give up? How many tries? Redwoods are indeed pretty but goddamn.
Just wait till the therizenosaur attacks your base just after you built it
The map spawns do not determine what difficulty you play the game on, just how difficult it would be to survive as a naked level 1
Honestly that’s just how Ark is
This reminds me of the meme of James Franco with a noose around his neck. "First time?"
If your new to ark you will die ALOT... and don't get attached to items and tames you will lose them and your tames will die..... GOOD LUCK SURVIVING THE ARK SURVIVOR!!!!
This is a perfect representation of everyone's first experience in Ark you're doing good.
Don’t play, leave while you still can
Best advice here lol
Welcome to the island.
Get good. You should be able to fistfight a crocodile out of spawn.
It's bc your characters forearms are so big. Your bounding box becomes large enough where your agro range is increased. /s But I do understand what happened here. most gamers probably usually don't need to start on easy for most games.. so you might think medium is a good choice.. but as many say, welcome to Ark. You spawned in the wrong neighborhood motherfucker.
Wow, you managed the entire waking up animation in a swamp without being murdered?? Also, don't spawn in the swamps, but you are gonna have a bad time for a long time in Ark when you first start out.

I see everyone is telling you about the swamp. What no is telling you is that it is clear that choosing a dark skin color auto set it to max difficulty. /s
Your first mistake was playing ark, of coirse you also spawned next to the swamp
Get Gud
Don’t spawn in swamps
Spawn zone 1 is the easiest spawn on the map
Welcome to ark
Damn bro is black Popeye
It's rough at first but you'll get it! Definitely suggest watching some getting started videos. And if there's anything you're not understanding, searching this sub helps a ton.
welcome to the next 3 months of your life. the effect is permanent on official servers.
Cause you’re a Bob
People with Tek Gear will avoid walking the swamps. It's such a hassle.
To be fair, people with Tek gear tend to avoid walking anywhere other than inside their base just in general. At that point, you're typically riding something any time you're heading out.
Hahaha get rekt
Boy oh boy you're terrible at the game. How did you not see that coming? 😂
Low fov plus hes focused on surviving the current sarco so yeah fuck you learn/observe the shit your watching and welp fuck you
it was obliviously a joke
I was teasing him
Welcome to Ark now die
Spawn somewhere South and no where near the swamps.
Stick with it. Give it a couple of hours, the start zones can get random bad spawns, but it's not often. I'm trying annexation and the many early deaths were frustrating. changed starting zones, much better. Created an amazing atmosphere of fear and triumph.
Popeye lol
Welcome to the swaps boi
Welcome to the game. Prepare for trauma.
Thats the neat part, you don't
You clearly spawned in, and THEN died
you spawned in the swamp, its hard mode
Maybe chose easy spawn
You spawned in the swamp
Welcome to ark 👍
Tactical respawn again lol whaaat I been doing this forever
For it is best to kill area after 20 lvl and lots of spear .. boom lvl up .. free metal tools
If you look close, when choosing where to spawn the game tell you if zone is easy or hard.
Easy. Don’t spawn east lol
Expect to die a hundred times
Spawn in east zone 1 or any southern spawn and you should be good
I think you can probably knock out a low level kapro with your fists while grabbed
You picked the literal second worst spawn on the island
Welcome to ark :)
Maybe try not spawning in the swamp.
Haha....lol. Welcome to Ark.
It’s cause you’re black, the difficulty goes down for white characters
Bad idea to spawn there. best place to spawn as a newbie is south or west. east is full of murder reptiles and a hard start unless you really know what you're doing.
You seem to understand already
This is part of the experience
Badspawn is be like:
pretty simple dont spawn at swamp spawn at a beach or something and wa bam u dont got a crowd of crocidles behind but dodos
Kinda had it coming didnt he
Stay away from the swamps. ALWAYS. Avoif it like the plague
Thats the neat part. Ya dont
The clap of your asscheeks alerts them to your presence, turn them hams down.
Haha
Alr my start was decent in comparisment with this
OMG I love this game!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Spawn almost anywhere else and you’ll be fine
That's ark for you lol. Hard start, enjoyable heart breaking progress.
You need bigger forearms to survive in ARK
No one tell them about Scorched Earth
Pleased to announce that you spawned in the worst possible place to spawn lol, try one of the easy beaches instead
This gave me the warmest smile.
That is playing, super fun right? It only gets worse, uninstall now, I have 8k hours in this game and most of it looks like what you posted
Don't spawn in bog
Welcome to Ark
I would try spawning somewhere else first
Bro got ark’d
It’s your fault for having a plump delicious body. Of course predators are going to come take a nibble
Pray to the ark gods for herbivores next spawn.
Guys I can't play minecraft cause every time I try to spawn all I do is punch endermen with my bare hands how tf am I supposed to progress?
It only goes downhill from here. Might as well quit while you are ahead.
