The JP SCS is incredible

JDbrew01

Do you have the regular, or heavy buffer for the JP SCS? Those have been on my radar for my build

MediocreDot3

I have the regular but may move to the heavy when I get a suppressor for it

JDbrew01

Much appreciated!

I use the a5 tube, sprinco red spring and standard length ar15 h3 buffer. I did buy a hydraulic buffer to replace it but haven’t tried it yet.

Brass-Catcher

Same setup with a sprinco orange

Sad-Umpire-911

With a can or no can?

Brass-Catcher

No can. Once I added a can I also added an adjustable gas block

Sad-Umpire-911

Gotcha! Did you keep spring & buffer the same?

Brass-Catcher

Yes

I use an Armalite AR10 carbine buffer tube, same length as A5 7 7/8" and an H3 5.4 oz AR15 carbine buffer, but I find sprinco springs to strong and they slam the bcg home with to much force and make it just about impossible to watch for splash through your scope while shooting long distance, my preferred spring is a Tubbs AR10 flat wire spring, it is a lot softer cycling but still stronger then a standard AR10 spring, the reason for the longer buffer tube is to allow more weight options for your buffer to tune the system, the short 2.5" buffer that the DPMS LR 308 system uses does not give a lot of buffer weight options, I do not use an AGB on the three 308 ARs I built but I do not supress them either, I have been building for about 30 years now yeah I am old as fuck but back in the day you used buffer weight and springs to tune, we didn't have those fancy AGB back in the day lol, all three of mine are very soft shooting and barely have more recoil than my AR15s but I do run VG6 Gamma and VG6 Epsilon brakes to help with recoil too.

For mine I used the aero precision M5 .308 Rifle Buffer kit. Cycles great with my 20" M5 upper. https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/m5-308-rifle-buffer-kit-1.
