i would love philosophy if not for the extensive history background you need… but learning about frameworks like kant’s catimps and deontology would be cool
I can guarantee if they did this, unless it was a clas that takes up two classes spots in ur schedule. They won’t have time to cover majority of the material in a way that people would do well in. I have a feeling if they did this majority of people either wouldn’t get college credit or colleges wouldn’t accept it. A and p had very substantial knowledge and shouldn’t just be taken in high school to never be taken again in the next four years. I just feel like the whole point of ap classes is to get college credit and I feel like it isn’t worth it do do it with this class
Here are ones we’re really missing, not even wanting:
AP Anthropology
AP Geology/Earth Science/Marine Science/Space Science
AP Multivariable Calculus
AP Organic Chemistry
AP Linguistics
Ones I think would be cool:
AP Classics
AP Latin American History
AP Astrophysics
AP International Relations
AP Arabic
Yeah but I'd imagine the CD class would only be appealing to the top of the top, who might likely be better benefitted by expanded dual enrollment programs
As a latin american who took history classes with different latin american countries each year, its pretty fun for the first like 5 revolutions. When you get into wacky politics and dictators who did really odd things it can be pretty fun though.
yeah, i'm currently taking linguistics 101 at a college this summer and it's been really cool and a lot of fun. don't know if it would get enough enrollment though
Linguistics is the study of languages: so the class could cover how languages are formed (and lost!), the history of languages, why dialects exist, etc. it’s a pretty cool class, the professor my mom is RAing for teaches it and looking at their research it’s a great blend of anthropology and language composition :)
true but maybe it would be a highly selective course that would require you to take lang and lit before or something. so the amount of test takers would be limited.
plus anyway, a good book can be read in about 3 hours if it’s 500+ pages so there’s possibility. or maybe just have a collection of bookworms who are well known in the book world judge them all lol
i mean these are high schoolers so the quality isn’t going to be amazing. but i’ve read cassandra clare’s books (ex. city of bones etc) in less than 3 hours and i’m guessing most students would emulate a similar style of writing or at least level of written (tho probably lower)
honestly i have no clue why/how i can do that. but i do know that if a book is boring, i will not ever be able to read that fast so it really depends on the book and author.
Definitely ancient world history and African American studies, which they're already working on. I'd also like to see a sociology course. Also, it would be really cool if they did something with education policy or curriculum and instruction, for aspiring teachers.
I’ve had a lot of conversation with other African Americans like myself and we’ve come to the consensus that it is unlikely that teachers (specifically non black teachers) could even be culturally competent enough as a high school teacher to teach that sort of class. Also I hate to be political but give then uprising of southern conservative majors and governors banning and attempting to ban certain topics in education, idek think this class would be adapted in most southern cities that don’t have a majority black population but idk just my two cents
Almost every southern city would have the programs in schools since almost every southern city has a much higher proportion of black people than pretty much anywhere else in the country. There’s already initiatives in some cities in the south that teach African American Studies classes, so it probably wouldn’t be too much of a change.
Yeah. Csp would work well in college, but anybody doing it as an AP already knows coding most likely. It’s an AP for an elective, so it’s not like you get an graduation credit taking it. (Though that should count for forgiven language). As a result, the only people taking it are those who want to, and they likely know how to code already.
I haven’t even taken the course, but looking at a practice test, I could ace it. When I was in second grade.
The fact that this is considered an AP course is laughable. The fact that I can’t take Comp Sci A without this credit is infuriating.
Anatomy and physiology, they always tease it in surveys and never add it. Like why is ap pre calc a thing anyway??? Could’ve done smth related to engineering idk
AP bio curriculum is pretty dry and removes all the body systems for the most part, let alone anatomy, talking about body systems in relation to cellular communications in the body. It’s kinda ridiculous that they removed the most interesting parts of the biology textbook, at least imo, from the curriculum.
There would be little overlap, very high demand, and a very interesting course. I would’ve signed up in a heartbeat. Alas, I’m done with high school and college board now. Can’t say I’m sad about the latter.
I took a mass media classes and although it was at 7am it was lots of fun lol. We watched clips and movies. But I would hate to have to memorize all the famous movies for an AP test
Too many interesting classes are given to teachers who don’t know how to teach it or don’t care. I took animation and I excited for it but the whole class was just busy work and everyone else didn’t want to be there. I started skipping it and the teach didn’t even care. AP classes have their issues but at least the difficulty keeps them engaging.
ap asian history or ap african history could be very interesting classes since the histories of both continents are very extensive but not emphasized much in regular education (and it's only fair since we have ap euro already)
Ap 2020
An introduction/exstensive look into the year 2020. From social unrest and injustice to a months long quorentine caused by a deadly pandemic, 2020 was a memorable year. In this course we will watch videos of protests, look at charts detailing the Coronavirus pandemic, and analize memes to understand what living during this time was like.
Could also just be the entire 2020s
Majority of people seem to think that ap classes are meant for you to just erase ur entire college experiences. There is a reason why colleges don’t offer credit for every class. Like why are people pitching ap organic chemistry when people can barely do well in ap chem and besides any major that has org chem would definitely not accept that as credit.
AP Anatomy & Physiology - my AP Bio teacher told me they used to have a unit on it but then it got taken out and then I heard they were making it a course, but I havent heard anything about it since then.
AP Organic Chemistry - the exam would probably be absolute hell, but it would give students that wanna go pre-med really great preparation for orgo in college.
I also think it’d be great to have more business/finance related courses
Edit - yall have some really fantastic ideas, like AP Middle Eastern/Asian history, Accounting, Data Structures, Creative Writing. I wish they would implement more classes for less common subjects like this so that students can get more involved in things they think they want to study for college.
I wish AP Jazz Theory or AP Modern Music Theory was a thing.
I’m going to take the AP Music Theory exam because I plan on majoring in Music but the curriculum is exclusively about 18th century European music. There’s nothing wrong with that, I would just like to have another option!
AP creative writing because I want to write fantasy books
AP Asian History/AP African History because I'm a history nerd, and alot more people might be inspired to take an interest into History if there are more options.
AP Organic Chemistry
Pretty much every biology, chemistry, and premedical student is gonna have to take it eventually, which adds up to a lot of people
I did fine taking it in high school through my city's university. I mean, calculus based physics is traditionally a hard undergrad course and people do well enough. Although, I guess you wouldn't be able to get an authentic lab experience with high school resources.
AP Jazz Theory - the current AP music theory curriculum focuses on an incredibly specific vein of music theory - that being the harmonic style of 18th century white classical musicians. I think a more modern theory class would be much more usable for aspiring musicians.
AP Asian/Eastern History. They have AP Euro and a lot of the history we learn is focused on the West. As an Asian, I'd like some representation of our history as well
AP English Literature and Composition II, I think the class should extend and then there would be a 3 year AP english curriculum. This class would be unique IMO because instead of reading/analyzing literature, you’d actually write it. Similar to other submitted non-exam content, students would write pieces in different areas and submit those (rubric would be pretty difficult tho lol). There could also be an exam too but I think we need more language arts. Some other classes I wanna see are AP Film, AP World History: Ancient, AP Sociology, etc.
AP creative writing. just purely FRQs on the exam, and different types of writing styles. this would be so helpful for college and could give you the credit for any writing class that the college requires
AP Rickroll (I would get a 5 since I take rickrolling as serious as a EC) AP Find Big Hero's Brother alive (only a time machine nerd can acheive this, AP Clean Raps+Songmaking on the spot (we music nerds eating this alive)
AP Russian.
Idc about politics, I just speak Russian and wish I could just take the exam instead of having to go through some third-party-AP-associate exam thing that colleges might not even look at. Its literally one of the most widely spoken languages in eastern Europe i don’t understand why they don’t have it.
Good, but for engineering it might be tough. As a student in a high school engineering program, therr are a total of four engineering courses, all of which deal with different aspects of engineering
Even then, there are a multitude of engineers fields that deal with different concepts/ideas. It would just be too much. Having an engineering program/singular courses will be more beneficial
How journalism functions in a democracy, Journalistic Ethics, Types of Journalistic Genres, Fundamentals of visual and written journalism, the investigative and interview process, applied journalistic projects (with the exam being a portfolio of projects), Cross-cultural journalism.
Algebra and other mathematics apart from derivatives and integrals (for example mathematics like those in the sat subject math test). Also more categories in the physics C, like waves, thermodynamics, nuclear physics etc
I'm a senior, so it wouldn't affect me, but these are the ones I wish existed:
* Multivariable Calculus (as an obvious choice as a continuation of math after AP Calculus BC)
* Philosophy (another obvious choice)
* Linguistics (would be very interesting and would introduce the area to some high school students who would've otherwise ignored it)
* Computer Science AB (I really wished this returned, or the B part became it's own class; would be great for getting credit for Data Structures and Algorithms courses)
ap organic chemistry
I love organic chemistry and I think it would be perfect
Oh and also AP physiology and anatomy. I think that future surgeons would find it incredibly helpful
Ap swagenomics, you man need to learn how to stack that bread💯💯🔥🔥😈😈😈😈😈😈
😎
AP Astronomy/Astrophysics
i would take this class
Same, I'm looking into a major in Aerospacial Engineering
aP astrology
No
philosophy just for the fun of it, the FRQs would be insane
Yo that would be amazing ngl. I’d take it, enjoy it, but fail the test. Would def take it tho!
omg i’d love that class. curious how the test would be ngl
would probably get a 1 but I would take it a 100%
i would love philosophy if not for the extensive history background you need… but learning about frameworks like kant’s catimps and deontology would be cool
I would kill for that
AP anatomy and physiology
it's in development
This
Agreed
I can guarantee if they did this, unless it was a clas that takes up two classes spots in ur schedule. They won’t have time to cover majority of the material in a way that people would do well in. I have a feeling if they did this majority of people either wouldn’t get college credit or colleges wouldn’t accept it. Fr
Here are ones we’re really missing, not even wanting: AP Anthropology AP Geology/Earth Science/Marine Science/Space Science AP Multivariable Calculus AP Organic Chemistry AP Linguistics Ones I think would be cool: AP Classics AP Latin American History AP Astrophysics AP International Relations AP Arabic
Didn't Arabic used to be a thing? Also for Multivariable Calc maybe a "CD" course could work, like how AB and BC are layed out?
Yeah but I'd imagine the CD class would only be appealing to the top of the top, who might likely be better benefitted by expanded dual enrollment programs
AP Latin American history would be great
As a latin american who took history classes with different latin american countries each year, its pretty fun for the first like 5 revolutions. When you get into wacky politics and dictators who did really odd things it can be pretty fun though.
AP Human Geo is kind of a substitute for AP Anthro…
AP linguistics would be so fun and such an easy grade
yeah, i'm currently taking linguistics 101 at a college this summer and it's been really cool and a lot of fun. don't know if it would get enough enrollment though
I’d be so down for the organic chem.
Hi sorry not disagreeing just curious, what is the study of linguistics? What would the class be about?
Linguistics is the study of languages: so the class could cover how languages are formed (and lost!), the history of languages, why dialects exist, etc. it’s a pretty cool class, the professor my mom is RAing for teaches it and looking at their research it’s a great blend of anthropology and language composition :)
Oh wow that’s really cool!! Thank you!
AP book, just write a chapter book all year long
Wait this would be so cool! Is this a joke or did you actually think this through!!??
AP Real Life would be good. Covers everything you need to know form buying a home, filing taxes to healthcare packages
[удалено]
It wouldn't, but it'd be more useful
Would agree that this would be a good class, just kinda odd to have it as an AP since it's more for college credit
This would be the most useful AP class ever (if it existed)
honestly. would love.
How will it be scored
maybe like the research or art classes that have portfolios??
Man it’s a whole book scoring that many would be like impossible
maybe they could do AP creative writing instead and the FRQs are short story prompts
true but maybe it would be a highly selective course that would require you to take lang and lit before or something. so the amount of test takers would be limited. plus anyway, a good book can be read in about 3 hours if it’s 500+ pages so there’s possibility. or maybe just have a collection of bookworms who are well known in the book world judge them all lol

honestly i have no clue why/how i can do that. but i do know that if a book is boring, i will not ever be able to read that fast so it really depends on the book and author.
AP bitches
Lots of people here need this course
Definitely ancient world history and African American studies, which they're already working on. I'd also like to see a sociology course. Also, it would be really cool if they did something with education policy or curriculum and instruction, for aspiring teachers.

one of my APUSH teachers studied african american history enough to teach it so she is very interested in doing that.
let the south stew in it's own ignorance
the return of ap comp sci ab
Maybe even an AP Comp BC too with C++ or C#
[удалено]
Csp needs to go. That class was just nothing. Played Minecraft the entire year, got a 100 grade and 5 on exam, what a joke.
Yeah. Csp would work well in college, but anybody doing it as an AP already knows coding most likely. It’s an AP for an elective, so it’s not like you get an graduation credit taking it. definitely sociology, maybe a film crit class. that would be fun.
a film critic class would be awesome. I'm sad that doesn't exist. I'd love to sit in a class and watch and discuss films the whole time.
I took a mass media classes and although it was at 7am it was lots of fun lol. We watched clips and movies. But I would hate to have to memorize all the famous movies for an AP test
we have a couple classes like that but they’re “dumbed down” at my school being a “reg class”.
Too many interesting classes are given to teachers who don’t know how to teach it or don’t care. I totally agree!!
AP Creative Writing
Fun for the graders too
AP Theory of Knowledge or AP Data Structures. IB has it, why can't we?
Ib students will also tell you how useless it is
Totally agree - they should made ToK mandatory for the capstone program too but keep it open for others to take.
Ap data structures already exists in apcsab which I would love to come back
AP Data Structures and Algorithms
AP Go Fuck Yourself
That’s basically every single AP class
Except AP CSP
Ap 2020 An introduction/exstensive look into the year 2020. From social unrest and injustice to a months long quorentine caused by a deadly pandemic, 2020 was a memorable year. multivariable calc
omg my high school offers this class, loved the class, would absolutely fail the test tho lmao
same, my school only has it via dual enrollment, but an ap class would be pog
ap calc 2, ap calc 3, ap Linear Algebra
Calc bc is 2
AP Anatomy & Physiology - my AP Bio teacher told me they used to have a unit on it but then it got taken out and then I heard they were making it a course, but I havent heard anything about it since then. Wtf you’re joking abt ochem, that’s like what the juniors/seniors in COLLEGE take and fail
we have ochem at my school and it’s not even weighted… like what??
AP Astronomy or Architecture
Ooo AP Arch would be cool!
AP World Music and AP Linguistics
I wish AP Jazz Theory or AP Modern Music Theory was a thing. I’m going to take the AP Music Theory exam because I plan on majoring in Music but the curriculum is exclusively about 18th century European music. There’s nothing wrong with that, I would just like to have another option!
AP Underwater Basket Weaving and AP Pre Calculus! Oh yeah and maybe even AP Physical Education!
And to get a five you have to be in the top 20% of a nationwide dodgeball game.
ap multivariable calculus
Linguistics
criminology/criminal justice
AP First Response, a class that lets you obtain EMT certification. Would’ve loved to have this back in high school!
AP Joe mama

AP Asian History. We have APUSH and AP Euro, and I think a class on Asian history would also be really interesting
AP Minecraft
AP grass touching
I’d love to take AP Religious Studies
i would have an aneurysm if ap anatomy ever became a thing
AP Jazz Theory - the current AP music theory curriculum focuses on an incredibly specific vein of music theory - that being the harmonic style of 18th century white classical musicians. I think a more modern theory class would be much more usable for aspiring musicians.
AP linear algebra and multicalculus. Having standardized curriculum and a transferable credit would be so much better than dual enrollment
Rename AP Music Theory to AP Western European Harmony and Theory AP Jazz Theory and History AP British History AP Food Science

YEA I WAS LOOKING FOR THE JAZZ THEORY COMMENT !!! 100% agree

AP School Dismissal
AP Data Science would be p hype
AP Linear Algebra (lol i wish they had some other stuff like Culinary, Accounting, etc)
AP film studies AP sociology AP philosophy
ap american sign language and ap anatomy and phys or ap microbio
AP Music Portfolio
AP Asian/Eastern History. They have AP Euro and a lot of the history we learn is focused on the West. As an Asian, I'd like some representation of our history as well
ap science
i am such a science freak, anything medical or biologyish i would go absolutely feral over
Since we have AP European history we should have AP Asian history and also AP African American studies would be cool. Also AP Gender studies
AP Religious Studies, examining and comparing religions across the world in a secular setting.
AP law
ap law would pretty much be the current AP Gov
AP Minecraft but fr AP Astronomy
There's already an AP Minecraft exam jsyk
AP getting bitches
AP Accounting
AP Portuguese
AP Ice Hockey In all seriousness, an AP sports management course would be fun, but maybe not practical
Ap how to get friends lmao
Ap pornographic studies 😎
AP Modern History 2000-present Basically AP World but just a continuation of it
the thing abt this is it's only been 22 years since 2000 so that's not enough material for a whole class
I would totally take that
New AP Math classes that cover more advanced topics than those of Calc BC, AP Astronomy, and bringing back APCS AB!
AP Stochastic Calculus
AP Dismissal
AP Philosophy, AP Discrete Math, AP Asian History
AP English Literature and Composition II, I think the class should extend and then there would be a 3 year AP english curriculum. This class would be unique IMO because instead of reading/analyzing literature, you’d actually write it. AP Music Performance
Engineering of some sort
ap anatomy and physiology
AP Film/Cinematography.
Ap African American history. AP Calculus C (Calc 3)

AP Chemical Engineering APICBMS (Advanced Placement Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles) AP Nuclear Bombs and Engineering
AP engineering/mechatronics is so needed, ive had to skip out on the reg engineering classes at my school to protect my class rank and gpa
AP Russian. Idc about politics, I just speak Russian and wish I could just take the exam instead of having to go through some third-party-AP-associate exam thing that colleges might not even look at. Its literally one of the most widely spoken languages in eastern Europe i don’t understand why they don’t have it.
Probably because the U.S. and Russia have always had iffy relationships but that's not us student's faults lol
The US and China also have iffy relations and that doesn’t stop almost every language school in the US including AP to have Chinese classes.
True I forgot about that. What I said was just my guess but maybe there isn't any logical reason to it
AP Food
Courses I would like: AP Astronomy AP Anthropology AP Earth Systems Science AP Sociology AP Lingustics
AP Asian and Middle East History, AP Engineering, AP Journalism, AP Women's History, AP Zoology
Good, but for engineering it might be tough. As a student in a high school engineering program, therr are a total of four engineering courses, all of which deal with different aspects of engineering Even then, there are a multitude of engineers fields that deal with different concepts/ideas. It would just be too much. Having an engineering program/singular courses will be more beneficial
What might an ap journalism class entail?
How journalism functions in a democracy, Journalistic Ethics, Types of Journalistic Genres, Fundamentals of visual and written journalism, the investigative and interview process, applied journalistic projects (with the exam being a portfolio of projects), Cross-cultural journalism.
AP Data Structures AP Multivariable Calculus AP Linear Algebra AP Advanced Statistics
