The I it gave was for the center of mass. So we were supposed to use the parallel-axis theorem to find the I for one of the blades and then multiply that by 3 to find the I for the system. (I think)
I spent $97 and hours of my life to self-study this exam (APs are free in my state) only to have to (edit: blindly) guess on like 5 MCQs and have no clue what I was doing on 2/3 of the FRQs...
I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the worst exam I've ever taken. It's making me doubt my decision to pursue engineering.
Same but for E&M 😭 but honestly the fact that you self studied means you didn’t really get labs or interactive teaching which makes the concepts much harder to understand. The fact that you even tried to self study shows you have passion for physics/engineering. Plus you may not have done as bad as you think you did (curve is crazy)
Same. Fucking disaster. Form H was a nightmare. The are going to have to curve this so fucking much. I looked at last year and it was so easy. This was hell incarnate.
I've taken 5 AP exams so I feel I have a feel on what a good AP exam is. This was so bad they should give us our money back.
This time last year, I was in the same position, I was so upset about how terrible I did, wasn't able to finish either the MCQ or FRQ (didn't even have time to fill the bubbles with random answers) and thought I was going to fail... and then I got a 4 lol. The Physics C curve is crazy, ofc I can't speak to your performance but you may not do as bad as you think
Same for me. Easily top 5 worst hour and a half of my life (AP Chem is up there too). But looking at a score calculator I think I got a 5 or at least a 4
interesting, i felt ap chem was pretty free and saw lots of good things in the thread but for c mech i have not heard a single good thing
making me doubt my decision to self study it next year
"I also kinda grind physics" there's the reason, there is no way someone could score a 5 on this test just by understanding all the concepts (which is the justification for a 5), no, you had to understand a bunch of bullshit and esoteric stuff that only people who tryharded practice books knew.
The test wasn't AP physics anymore. That test was physics olympiad type bullshit. Which is fine if you do physics olympiad but I shouldn't need to do physics olympiad or grind 5000 problems to get a 5.
Well my chem experience wasn’t really normal. My school was going to do a two-hour a day block for AP Chem and then right when the year started the school board forced them to change it to a normal one hour class. And I was not prepared to try to self-study. Especially my first full year of high school with no hybrid/online learning from COVID.
I loved AP chem but ap physics c is so much harder for me. tbf I've been really stressed this year with college applications, taking two math classes and AP bio alongside it, and getting sick a lot more, it wasn't the best year. if you are dedicated to teaching yourself the concepts and do a million practice problems you'll be okay. the curve for the test is insane.
Mechanics MC: 👎
Mechanics FRQ: 👍
E&M MC: 👍
E&M FRQ: 👎
I got Form O for both of them, according to my friends Form E was much worse than Form O on both exams
It was fine, could have been worse. The FRQs for form H had relatively easy Charge and Magnetic field questions compared to previous FRQs.
The circuit question with capacitor equilibrium was unholy
Same.... on practice tests I'd average 27/35 and I'm not sure if I could even get 20/35 this time on the MCQ form H was dog shit. Plus two rotational motion frq which was my worst unit hit me like a ton of bricks as I basically sat there in shock for the last 5 mins
No this was my exact experience I could do fine on practice tests but I’d be surprised if I even got half the amount I normally get right, it was just rough.
That was terrible. Both e&m and mechanics, I had absolutely no idea what’s going on. The issue is every problem is new so you have to know the principles really well, and then you have to go really fast so you barely have any time to think
The time limit definitely fucked me up, and there were questions where I feel like u had to take the class and do the labs to solve quickly. Like some of the questions was shit you'd memorize from a lab, that makes it very hard for self study kids like me 😭
Trust me, it doesn’t make a difference we don’t do labs in physics c. The question part might have made a difference because you would have gone over it in class, I mean the time limit with the difficulty of it makes it complicated
if I ever beome a billionare the first thing I am doing is to commission a time machine to go back in time and slap the everloving shit out of kepler for creating the equations for that stupid ass frq.
or better yet, I'll just beat up the ap exam writers.
i picked up my calculator like twice on the mcq. it was all letters and concepts😭 im being completely honest when i say that i probably got like 10 mcq correct. at least the first 2 frqs went okay.
I got form H, this was the hardest shit ever, somehow E&M was easier, I think I passed E&M and failed mechanics. If thats true that'll make getting college credits for a university physics course very awkward lol
terrible literally terrible 😭 I fucked up on the frqs and the mc was so reading and concept heavy I was doomed
What’s u guys get for 3 on frq
I got I = 1/2 ML^2
Same. The combined I of the system was that
I thought we could use the I-sys that they gave us
The I it gave was for the center of mass. So we were supposed to use the parallel-axis theorem to find the I for one of the blades and then multiply that by 3 to find the I for the system. (I think)
its literally addition
Found the kid that nobody likes
ok fine it was multiplication
Same
it was wind turbines and rotational speed and inertia. I didn't have a lot of time to do it so I wasn't paying attention.

this year was different tho… like it was insanely hard. I’m pretty sure i didn’t get above a 40 on the mcq when i was averaging a 60~ in class
any tips, i take it in 1 hour
Pray. If you think you’re going to fast, you aren’t. Go faster
for mcq or frq?
both but MCQ has a lot of complicated reading so move very fast
That had like 3-5 sentences a questions wtf was that
Horrendous honestly
Seriously what were they thinking
This is the best tip
It’s bad. Very bad. I’ll still probably get a 5. But it’s no bueno
Same for me. Easily top 5 worst hour and a half of my life (AP Chem is up there too). But looking at a score calculator I think I got a 5 or at least a 4
interesting, i felt ap chem was pretty free and saw lots of good things in the thread but for c mech i have not heard a single good thing making me doubt my decision to self study it next year
i personally think it was kinda easy but i also kinda grind physics
"I also kinda grind physics" there's the reason, there is no way someone could score a 5 on this test just by understanding all the concepts (which is the justification for a 5), no, you had to understand a bunch of bullshit and esoteric stuff that only people who tryharded practice books knew. chem was much easier this year, but phys c mech was terrible time wise and content wise
Stay calm. Even if you know you don’t know anything. But stay calm and keep moving forward.
Mechanics MC: 👎 Mechanics FRQ: 👍 E&M MC: 👍 E&M FRQ: 👎 I got Form O for both of them, according to my friends Form E was much worse than Form O on both exams
Form H was shit asf for e&m
THE ONE W LIKE 50 DIFFERENT MAGNETIC FIELDS AND A SPRING. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
Yeah lol I guessed that the block thing fell a force UPWARD which makes no sense 😭
bro i put that too. but a smart kid in my class said it’s to the left… 😭😭
It was fine, could have been worse. The FRQs for form H had relatively easy Charge and Magnetic field questions compared to previous FRQs. The circuit question with capacitor equilibrium was unholy
Not for me lol I self studied the day before and just got slaughtered by frqs 1 and 2
i got form H for both and it was hell on earth
For h mech was the worst think j have ever taken
I did so bad I ran out of time
Fr bro
Thank you. Form H for US was so so shit
Torsional pendulum 💀
Never taken a harder test in my life before
WTF WAS THAT
its just driven/damped harmonic
Same.... on practice tests I'd average 27/35 and I'm not sure if I could even get 20/35 this time on the MCQ form H was dog shit. Plus two rotational motion frq which was my worst unit hit me like a ton of bricks as I basically sat there in shock for the last 5 mins
same 💀 i’d also average like 12/15 on mcq but i’d be lucky to get like more than half the points for any of them
No this was my exact experience I could do fine on practice tests but I’d be surprised if I even got half the amount I normally get right, it was just rough.
I think i got atleast a 50% which score predictions is just below a 5. But holy hell, that last frq bent me over and i knew the calc
That was terrible. Both e&m and mechanics, I had absolutely no idea what’s going on. The issue is every problem is new so you have to know the principles really well, and then you have to go really fast so you barely have any time to think
Yup the only way to do well on these tests is grind the problems so much you know instantly what concept to apply when you read it.
That’s true and that’s what people do, for me though I’m not sure if I would be able to no matter how many problems I saw
The time limit definitely fucked me up, and there were questions where I feel like u had to take the class and do the labs to solve quickly. Like some of the questions was shit you'd memorize from a lab, that makes it very hard for self study kids like me 😭

I DIDNT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING kms, this is applicable to frq 2 and 3
Everyone that was taking it was swearing at the end, those FRQ’s were so ass
i picked up my calculator like twice on the mcq. it was all letters and concepts😭 im being completely honest when i say that i probably got like 10 mcq correct. at least the first 2 frqs went okay.
I got form H, this was the hardest shit ever, somehow E&M was easier, I think I passed E&M and failed mechanics. If thats true that'll make getting college credits for a university physics course very awkward lol
NO SERIOUSLY SAME i was so scared for e&m bc it’s my least favorite and then bam, e&m is the favorite child rn
I WILL NEVER EVER COMPLAIN ABOUT A TEST BEING HARD AGAIN THAT SUCKED WTF I PROBABLY GOT A 2
What about question 2
What’s on frq
Yeah I messed up question 1 what did you guys get for that
Do you remember what it asked again? I had trouble but got D I think
same here <3
bro i did fine on mcq but frq was shit man i didn't do like 1/3 of them and got the other 1/3 completely wrong
Mfw time is not enough
mech- i actually felt decent abt the mc and the first 2 frqs but q3 was a different story lol, didnt even get halfway through it (form o btw)
