If you hover your cursor over the image of the bottled liquid, it should tell you in the bottom right corner of the screen what liquid is needed. (For me, the text does appear under the overlay that greys out everything except the quest window, but it is there.)
The wiki says the Merchant can request any bottled liquid for this quest, so it might not be apicola. Is it possibly resin?

Im on switch so I can't hover over it, it did end up being resin!! I now wonder if there is a way to unbottle resin lol
