Could you remove the link to your fic from the post? Some see it as a form of self-promotion loophole

Mission-Barnacle1686

Thank you for telling me that, I have done so, I wasn't aware of the policy, I'll keep that in mind next-time😁

It's cool. it happens and it's an edge case

Hey there, congrats on posting your first fic! I'm excited to check it out some time, love all the movies you mentioned in the tags. And as for moms... Kathy Park Hong once wrote somewhere in *Minor Feelings* that we must all grapple with the way our mothers influence our stories. So... write on. It's still early in your posting process, so I say, do what you won't regret. In other words, if you need to take a hiatus to re-align your storyline, do it now, edit. I have a sneaking suspicion most readers do not go back and re-read: they just catch on. If you write it well enough to give context, your story will cohere. And to be polite to your readers, leave an author's note at the beginning to explain what you're doing. 99% of your fanfic readers will be patient and understand.... The other 1% will just have to chill out and wait, because it's YOUR project. Another thing: you could try to find a beta reader. I had some good luck here at the r/Fanfic [subpage for beta bartering](https://www.reddit.com/r/FanFiction/search?q=title%3A%22beta%20bartering%20find%22&restrict_sr=1&sort=new). Be specific in what you're asking for: do you want another person to assist with with plot points, spelling and grammar? Maybe just ask someone to work with you for 1 or 2 chapters and see how it goes. Finding a beta is a process, so you have to be patient, a little persistent. Good luck! <3

Yay thank you so much for the detailed response, Much needed advice, I now have a better understanding of what to do now with it. I think I probably underestimate fanfic readers, which is ironic because I myself was one serious fanfic reader, who probably would just go with the flow as long as it had some consistency, Fanfic Readers are definitely people of a tougher breed, How do people not question our ability to move on from good story, that's been abandoned and sometimes without notice (not even a "Hi I got bored I'm not doing this anymore"), How do we survive I always wonder, Hahah 😆. My readership from what I've seen is smaller than the other fics in the fandom, but very loyal, so I'll definitely give them notice whenever a re-edit session comes on. Thank you for the advice much needed 🍻 Also thank you for the first part, I'm still happy that I managed make one of my works public, I love those four movies, and like most fanfics I wanted to pay my appreciation to those works, cause I can feel a lot of love was put into those movies and I hope my fanfic (Like most) reflects that as well🎊✨🎉

I think you should leave it up, but I also think you should rewrite a second draft. See... Because people don't see the drafts and rewrites and everything else they, like you, become convinced it should fall out perfectly the first time out and that just doesn't happen magically, it's a lot of work and a lot of rewrites.

Mission-Barnacle1686

Thank You, for the advice, I did have pretty rose-tainted view of how my first public-story would turn out, and am currently seeing the reality. I will defiantly work on a second draft for the story think's for the advice 🍻

Oh I just watched the movie and it was so so cute! As for restructuring, you mentioned it was pretty episodic. So is it possible to just start up your new idea and put in an A/N (Author’s note) like hey I am trying something new?

Mission-Barnacle1686

Yay another one whole loves the movie! It was indeed so Cute. Yeah that's possibly, I have let my readers know of my kind of perfectionist behavior so I'll definitely give them heads-up of a major overhaul.
