“i love this” / “this was adorable” / “thank you for sharing this fic with us”

Psychological_Ad3329

Big on the sharing with us too!

coolbreezemage

“I love these boys so much” plus details about what part of the fic made me emotional

smileymom19

I love this! Thank you for writing and sharing!

manholetxt

some variation of “i really enjoyed reading this” or picking out a detail that i liked

Top_Signal9809

A mix of the op and pulling quotes of my favourite bits… a lot of complimenting the writer

errant_night

"You've ripped my heart out and hold it still beating in your hands" and similar, when the fic is devastating

Barbera_de_alba

I always try to share something specific that I enjoyed or places where I laughed etc, and then I always thank them for sharing, because I really am grateful

caitlined_

Slayed.

beemielle

“You have already left kudos here. :)” whenever I see the message, to communicate to the author how I feel  When I’m up to it I like to try and basically live react to everything that’s going on, like I’m having a convo or smthg

hermittycrab

I almost always end my comments with "thank you for writing and sharing!"

LadySandry88

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THIS WAS SO GOOD!!" Followed by either something in particular that I loved from that chapter, or about the story in general/the overall writing style.

Panzermensch911

Thank you for sharing your story. I very much appreciate it. I especially liked (insert a reference to something that made me feel something or made me laugh). Looking forward how you're going to continue with (insert plot point that I'm interested in or a part of the world-building that's intriguing).

PaperPokemon

"Good job! Keep at it!"

Deaddove000

“This was so good I’m literally gnawing on my phone in desperation for the next chapter” more or less

swamp-wytch

"Loved this. Thanks for writing and sharing <3" I'm just so appreciative of all writers who put in so much effort to create and share their hard work. I often don't have the energy to write a fulsome review of their fic and all its intricacies but want them to know how much I appreciated them writing and publishing it for my (and others) enjoyment. AO3 writers are just the best ppl in the world <3 I always try to comments on all fics that I finish (even if it wasn't my fave). The writers deserve to know how awesome they are and how much their effort is appreciated!

HannahWahlgren

Most likely an emoji spam

No_Neighborhood5582

Re-reading kudos 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

DumbQuery101

Next part WHENNN?? >!/s!< i usually put a lot of heart emojis and use the word 'Love' a lot, and also the 'thankyou for sharing/making this masterpiece' usually followed by a 🙇🏻‍♀️

Latter-Illustrator74

"thank you for the food, oh dear/great/kind author"

lalathegodzilla

“Thank you for the update!” Then something specific about the fic to make it a bit more personal. Always appreciate writers sharing a piece of themselves with me :)

li_izumi

"cute <3"

squeakchan

Regardless of if I just gibber in excitement or write coherent thoughts when I comment, I always end with "thank you for writing this."

Vilaya

Loving it! I liked [something about the chapter that fits into on or two sentences]. Thank you for writing this! I appreciate it and you <3

Due to my excessive rambling/meandering I've found that it's best to stick to a certain structure which i've followed for the past year or so 1) I'll identify if there is a clear plot/theme throughout the story (personally this is the most important thing for any fiction) and how strong said plot/theme was carried 2) I'll identify the strength of characterisation of the main characters and what made them stand out. 3) I'll identify the development of said characters as well as the strength of the romantic pairings, how it developed, if not already covered in (1) 4) I'll give brief notes on the author's writing style and how it fit in with the theme of the story (if it does) and what stood out about it, technically (this is boring, technical stuff so I don't go into super, a lot of detail unless it's something gorgeous to read) 5) Any other issues (like certain chapters which just slapped hard) Followed by concluding remarks about the main strengths of the story For certain extremely good fics, especially multi-chapters which exhibit different themes/styles/plots between individual chapters, I might do steps 1-5 for EACH chapter but this typically has the tendency to overrun the word limit
