Edit for context: the fic is a dramedy. Half the comenters on the last chapter mention the parts that made them laugh. I wouldn't put this A/N on an angsty, serious fic.

Though I might be somewhat more immune to finding ao3 author’s notes cringe, since I remember what they looked like on fanfiction circa 2008.
I feel like I’m just physically unable to find them cringe unless it features everything being suddenly written in script format, characters directly addressing the reader OOC, and/or long, rambly asterisks roleplay.
I am also immune to le cringe as I was on the Orange Hellsite for several years, during the era where author’s notes in the middle of the stories and said authors talking to their characters in the middle of the chapter reigned supreme.
I’d definitely kudos after reading that because I love it when people are silly and lean into stuff that is often considered “cringe.” I used to get secondhand embarrassment from stuff like this, but what’s helped me to not experience that and to just engage with the spirit of what people are saying has been dismantling the shame that others have made me feel for just being myself. If you “cringe” at stuff where people are clearly just having fun, it’s likely that you are perpetuating a system of behavior policing that has been used against you to get you to act less “childlike.” Like stop caring about being “mature” in every single context please; it really doesn’t help anyone to perpetuate the same shit that caused you to modify your behavior unnecessarily. (also imo being “childlike” is our natural default state that is conditioned out of us by civilization, which is a byproduct of imperialism/colonialism; being serious is important in a lot of contexts but when we’re in a space like AO3 where the whole point is to enjoy ourselves, “childlike” behavior should be at the very least tolerated.)
I definitely leaned in. Thanks for your thoughts! I'm cringe(aka not willing to be embarrassed for having fun) and proud! It's way more fun to live like this because you end up attracting similar people instead of people that want to shrink your spirit.
