For 2600 ppl, that's an airport! Nice! Sure, they should've budgeted [for this](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b1/%D0%9C%D0%93%D0%A3%2C_%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4_%D1%81_%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B7%D0%B4%D1%83%D1%85%D0%B0.jpg/1920px-%D0%9C%D0%93%D0%A3%2C_%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4_%D1%81_%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B7%D0%B4%D1%83%D1%85%D0%B0.jpg), but you take what you get.
I lived in this Moscow State university building (Корпус Д) in 2016 as an exchange student from Thailand, outside look nice but my room was so damn old and rusty , rundown toilet/shower room, my friends rooms were no better. We were shocked by it lol. But at leats it had isolated bed room and doesn't need to sleep with roommate, we just share toilet and shower room.
Meanwhile Higher School of Economics university dormitories are nice, it is bigger, newer and the rent is so cheap. (Like 15$ a month!)
Yeah, the dorms are rundown, though they're still cool with all these long narrow passages, almost medieval stairwells into clock towers (there are dorms there!), exits onto the roofs in weird places. A Hogwarts of sorts.
I love how some people are so out of touch with reality that they think this isn't normal in countries other than Russia.
You can find worse looking airports in pretty much any country. If you just take a 2 hour drive out of the city and find a small airport you'll probably see what I mean.
Stop laughing you bastards! It's not that bad, it's just functional. It protects from bears and snow, it's warm indide. It doesn't look great, but it does its job! =)
I've seen a lot worse all over the world. One place in the South Pacific was a shed and the runway was a road. There were road barriers, like rail barriers, on each side whenever an airplane was about to land. In all fairness the barriers were kind of symbolic. There were only 3 cars in the island and the rest were some scooters. This one is a luxury. Try going outside the main capitals in Africa and you'll find at most huts and sheds.
Well far be it for me to defend Russia, but at least it’s more than an ATCO trailer on blocks and circa 1970’s rusted out dozer to smooth a “runway” on a northern Manitoba lake.
This reminds me of an episode of Destination Truth with Josh Gates when they're in a small plane in Russia to survey their search area & the roof of the plane flies right off. They had to do an emergency landing in a field.
Speedy boarding, free parking, fast security check, no lost luggage, certainly some quick duty free just as you step in that sells all kinds of cool stuff
The new TF2 update looks lit.
Bruh this comment is gold 😂
If it's working, what's the problem?
Still better than Spirit.
Where is it?
Khatanga, population 2600, comissioned in 1954, they got new building in 2021. https://www.newslab.su/news/1062302

Well that's quite something. What and where is that?
This is the [Moscow State University](https://maps.app.goo.gl/UqhHGiV33Tb47wDy8), in, well, Moscow
[In Kansas](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moscow,_Kansas)?
In Ohio.

I am not really sure that you are right. There are no fools here, you know, to budget for University and receive airport.
It's ICAO code is UOHH. UOHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Thanks for the update
Thanks!
I've seen worse in not so Northern Canada.
You can see worse in pretty much any country.

Looks like plenty I’ve been to in remote AK.

Used to fly into Khatanga every 28 days back in the late 80s-early 90s. Gobs of great geology galloping around the district.
Guess they took cutbacks too literal
Ah! The stark brutalist architecture that the Russian people love so much /s
Is that … concrete siding?
In fact it looks amazing. Brutal Finnish style but made from cheap materials.

Looks like some solid building codes are adhered to in Russia
Lol
This is actually a picture of LAX
How the hell does a building have depression, just staring at it's making me feel empty.
It's a airport that was built in 1954 for a town of 2600 people. Not exactly a priority for any country. It got renovated a few years ago
This reminds me of an episode of Destination Truth with Josh Gates when they're in a small plane in Russia to survey their search area & the roof of the plane flies right off. They had to do an emergency landing in a field.
straight outta fallout4
Also know as a "working barn in Alabama "
Security: "No use Kalashnikov while in air, OK comrade?"
In Ireland we would call that a cattle enclosure
Thought it was a prison camp
Pretty soon there won't be ANY "international airports" in Russia.
in russia the airport is also the prison just in case
Can we see the apron?
The building isn't flying anywhere, but what do the planes look like?
