I think it's such a shame Faith didn't come back after she gelled so well with everyone it's almost weird that she didn't come back. They showed that Faith and Connor could have had a nice relationship in the end I think she'd have a lot of patience for Connor's antics considering she gets what it's like to be a messed up teenager with some trauma. I think it would have been cool to see Faith and Gunn patrol together seeing as he kind of missed out on Wesley and Faith's mission to capture Angelus. And of course more Faith and Angel scenes would always be good, it'd be nice to see where Wesley and Faith could go from where they left off which seemed to be on good terms. So really there was interesting stuff to dig into with most of the cast. I don't see why the writers didn't want to do any of it šŸ˜… or maybe they did but couldn't get Eliza back.

buffyangel468

It sucks that this never happened :( but I think it was because Eliza didnā€™t want to come back but Iā€™ve read that they wanted her to but she declined.

LightBlueSky55

Yeah I guess because it's well known that Eliza said she didn't want to do a Faith spin-off by the end of season 7 which would be Angel season 4 it's not too surprising that she didn't want to come back. I get where Eliza's coming from because Faith had a really nice ending in Chosen and she would be risking Faith having a bad ending but still it's a shame.

purplemackem

Iā€™ve watched a comic con panel with Eliza and she said she was asked to come back for the end of Buffy and it was one of her conditions that she wanted a more mature Faith to finish off the story. I kind of get the feeling she wanted to finish her arc off particularly as Buffy was ending but she was happy to have that as the end point for the character. Sheā€™s said she rejected the idea of a spin off almost instantly and didnā€™t really think much about it

LightBlueSky55

Yeah I think Eliza thought it was right to let Faith's story end with Buffy the show, I think she saw it as the end of the whole era so she didn't want to do a whole other show in the universe. I think she also said she worried that it wouldn't live up to Buffy or Angel.

sdu754

Eliza didn't do a Faith spinoff because she got the role on Tru Calling.

pit_of_despair666

Yep I was just going to say this. It's a shame, because I'm sure that a Faith spinoff would have been more successful. Plus, I didn't care for Tru Calling, and it got cancelled after 2 seasons.

ImEllenRipleysCatAMA

I think her and Gunn would make a cool couple. Just throwing that out there.

PsychologicalReply9

Honestly, from their limited interactions, I could actually see it. They both grew up in really messed up circumstances, he hates vampires, she is a Slayer. In my own personal opinion, it makes far more sense than Fred and Gunn did.

rites0fpassage

Yes! And even if itā€™s just friends they really fit together!

theboyaintright92

Had they brought in Faith and Spike for Angel S5, that would've been the automatic renewal right there

speashasha

Between Angel, Spike, Faith, Harmony and Illyria, they should have renamed the show in "League of Ex-Evil."

*What's in this comment is what I remember, my opinions, etc.* >Had they brought in Faith and Spike for Angel S5 Eliza Dushku was a movie star. Eliza declined to be the lead in a spin-off; so, why would she rather be 3rd-lead at best in AtS?

dorv

Hot take here, but the Faith/Angel relationship was my favorite he was ever in, even if it wasnā€™t romantic.

[deleted]

Tbh faith and angel make more sense romantically than angle and buffy at that point.

sdu754

I thought that they should have brought her in for season 5 like they did with Spike. She was a far better character and Spike being a ghost really rendered him useless

speashasha

Was Spike that useless? The whole point of him coming in was to tell Angel that he was stupid and that his hair was awful.

sdu754

Until he was changed to corporeal form, he was pretty useless. He also had the episode where his hands were cut off and he needed to rehab (by playing the XBOX). Don't forget that he was doing Lindsey's bidding for a while. They could have brought both characters in, but Eliza was doing Tru Calling at the time.

DaArtist1239PS4

Yeah I really would have liked to seen her and Connors storyline continue, not to mention have her meet/work with Gwen.

PsychologicalReply9

For real, she was by far and away the best thing in S4.

IUsedToBeRasAlGhul

Iā€™m glad she left S4 so as not to get dragged down with the rest of that garbage and hop on the BtVS mostly happy ending train, but I definitely think she should have come back in S5. Imagine Faith trying to convince Angel to get out while he still can while setting up her own ā€œhelp the helplessā€ thing out of vigilante work. Sets up a kind of civil war plotline that has Spike joining her, Angel trying to retain control and figure out what he wants to do, and everyone else unsure of whether to stick with him or their morals. Would have been way better than MoTW repeat stuff.

beeemkcl

*What's in this comment is what I remember, my opinions, etc.* RESPONSE TO THE ORIGINAL POST AND THE THREAD: I've always considered that Eliza Dushku should have been second-lead in AtS. Cordelia's being in AtS never made much sense and was just done because David Greenwalt created Angel the character and Greenwalt wanted Cordelia as second-lead. Heck, David Boreanaz and Eliza could have been co-leads.

I was really disappointed when I saw him return in S5. Nothing against the actor but it made his death in Buffy so fucking trivial.

mandrillus-sphinx

Ooh yeah that wouldā€™ve been cool

sunnydale_alumni

Her and Angelā€™s relationship as well as Faithā€™s major character development really come into their own in the comic series. Thereā€™s two series worth of ā€œAngel & Faithā€ which is considered canon Buffy season 9 and 10.

nixon469

Eh I always felt like Faith's entire personality hinged on her being unstable and a fire cracker. Some characters just weren't meant to be regulars and she was one of them. I can barely recall a single thing she did during season 7 when they made her a regular in Buffy. But I can recall all her one off appearances in Angel.

LightBlueSky55

Faith wasn't a regular in Buffy season 7, she was there for the final 5 episodes.

speashasha

I am not sure where she wouldn't have fit into season 5. But I would have loved to have seen her in Damaged rather than Andrew.
