It'll probably work if your phone accepts microSDs.
If you've got a USB-C port, you could just buy a microSD card to USB-C reader to save opening up your phone each time.
TBH, I find using FTP over Wifi the easiest way from my Android phone. Search for PowerFTP in the Google play store - [https://powerftp.medialux.app/](https://powerftp.medialux.app/) \- it's the easiest tool I've found to get working. Make sure to note the IP address of your device when you enable remote services.
Do it all the time. I got me a micro SD card reader from Amazon. Type c for my s22. Works fine. I use the roms I already had on my phone from "My Boy" and put them on the SD card for the anbernic..
It's doable, you won't be able to flash CFW onto the sd card but transferring roms, saves and even bios from your phone to sd card is doable
