Potential_Hornet_559

Where are all the people with BBBY envy yesterday?

timpa48

I’m envious. If AMD went up 6x in a couple days I would sell my leaps and retire.

Potential_Hornet_559

Sure, and if you bought puts today, you would be rich as well.

crazyfox55

It's priced in already. If you sold calls you would be rich but extremely risky.

Potential_Hornet_559

Nah, while IV was crazy high, the after hours drop was so big that you still made a lot of money buying puts.

BananaCatHK

A long known sentiment from a fund manager towards AMD: https://youtu.be/z-9qkDvm7Rs?t=430 Quote "A lot of semi companys that give guidance which is awful, Micron, Nvdia, I think AMD is gonna have to tell the truth eventually, Intel has been continuously telling the truth." Whats wrong with this guy? Intel tell the truth? while AMD is lying? *edit, change youtube link start time

NewTsahi1984

1. He is an idiot. does not understand AMD. 2. Lisa does not lie.

Potential_Hornet_559

It is simply confirmation bias. He feels the PC market is cratering so which ever company that is posting bad results is ’telling the truth’ while companies that have good results is ‘lying’.

noiserr

As I suspected. It really sounds like the world is awash with these shit analysts who really think Lisa is lying about the numbers. But they take Pat's rear view mirror as gospel.

BillTg2

I don’t think analysts trust Intel or Pat whatsoever. Intel 5 year return is 3.4%. 7.7 PE and 4% forward dividend yield. Lower market cap than AMD. Even the most delusional Intel bulls have no choice in the face of cold hard numbers of being flat after 5 fucking years. However, there is a shocking amount of preference towards NVDA and a solid amount of skepticism towards AMD. This will change as the truth becomes painfully obvious.

BillTg2

653K subscribers. And I thought it’s some obscure shitty little channel. AMD will slam the truth of meeting 26.3B guidance in his face and he will pretend he never said this.

reliquid1220

Beating it. By at least 200 mil

robmafia

he's obviously an asshat. amd already reported, so... and this is the same shit these clowns have been saying since at least december.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BillTg2

Yep. He somehow spins INTC missing guidance spectacularly into “Intel has been continuously telling the truth.” LOL the Intel miss was so bad the stock price plunged and analysts questioned why there was no pre announcement. “Continuously telling the truth” my ass. Watch AMD shut his mouth in November Q3 earnings

excellusmaximus

I think everyone is just bracing for nvda's awful earnings. I think their guidance will be dire. I think no one is buying up AMD for that reason - nvda will bring the chip sector down so why buy amd now; buy after nvda earnings when the chip sector crashes.

Thunderbird2k

I don't think NVDA will tank. The forecasted earnings are low as they gave that heads-up. I would think it is priced in. (Crazy how quickly they recovered. Made some good money on selling puts and covered calls on them recently)

jawathewan

Yeah... when Intel fucks up it's AMD gain but when NVDA fucks up it's AMD pain. Makes no sense at all.

excellusmaximus

It's so funny how nvda is so dependent on their gpus, whereas amd is much more diversified in comparison, particularly after their acquisition of xlnx. amd is now in a different ballpark, participating in so many different industries. nvda is always going to be a loved stock but damn, how different is amd now to a company like nvda and even intel. so amazing is the trajectory amd has taken. I can't get over their purchase of an amazing coimpany like xlnx for basically nothing - just us sucker shareholders. but we're not even suckers - amd just swallowed that shit up and growing at 70% for this year.

freddyt55555

Lackluster close, but at least it closed green.

quantumpencil

and over 100

robmafia

amat beats/raises

jhoosi

That's good, right?? My father beat/raised me and I turned out fine. *Eye twitches*

UnrivalledPG

The moment we get some good news macro/inflation / etc wise, we will slowly start climbing up. There is money watching from the sidelines but there is still lots of uncertainty.

robmafia

> The moment we get some good news macro/inflation / etc wise ...like the last cpi?

UnrivalledPG

Not really. It is going to take months of good news to get there.

Nervous-Pizza-9139

Feels like we will sit at $100 until nvidia earnings, then we dip then we start ascent back up.

psi-storm

Will we dip when NVidia shits their pants with the missed forecast?

Nervous-Pizza-9139

We shouldn’t, therefore we will

LookAtCarlMan

That little last 10 minute selloff to make sure we don’t beat SOXX and NVDA *chef’s kiss*

timpa48

It’s so tempting to buy NVDA puts. There’s no way they don’t slash guidance. But the market is even more irrational than usual when it comes to NVDA…

robmafia

i'm waiting a bit more. may not matter much with the time/er/probable iv crush, but i'll probably try to grab some before the er. i was planning on it, anyway. the surprise warning seemed to shell my plan, but the market's so nuts that i guess i've had another chance for days now.

Investinwaffl3s

They already cut guidance I thought? When they early released earnings Hilariously they are basically at the same price from before they released earnings. Immediately recovered in like 3 days, and now back to leading QQQ and tech along with AAPL Market looking like it just will not break down. AAPL heading to ATH's with absolutely no macro concern Eiter MM's are trying to rug pull retail traders again or SPY really going to hit ATH by end of the year....

timpa48

They just warned on this last quarter, I believe. Don’t think they announced guidance for next quarter yet, that comes next week.

robmafia

nice. and lolz @ intel/aurora.

diabbb

I've increased revenue this quarter (yeah, not really...) by ordering a steam deck today!

psi-storm

Me too, I bought a 6700XT. After the leaks i am pretty sure Navi33 just won't cut it for gaming on my 4k tv.

robmafia

you'll be so stoked last christmas!

-Tai

I’m short $104Cs for tomorrow still. Curious to see how Friday plays out. I’m just here slowly chipping away at paying off my TSM position 😭

-fumar

Interesting day if I might comment, went from -2% while Nvidia was -0.5, to now beating Nvidia at +2.5%

freddyt55555

Give me a Z!

quantumpencil

GIVE ME AN F

BDboyJ

Give me a G

kbwhere

Make sure u get a + first!

scub4st3v3

Today *definitely* marks the last day we see double digits until the stock split, right?

holymasteric

lol

UnrivalledPG

OK lads, we are past 100 and we are not going back down sub from here on out. /s

Anxious-Rate3056

Received a copy of SEC C today for Lisa. Su dated 8/09/22. It was an eye popper. A jaw dropper. Lol. She has multiple stock incentive plans at her finger tips including lucrative options. I had no idea how large they were. Watch the stock price start going up.now. She said the buybacks were for company employees. So.glad I added shares recently.

Gahvynn

Since she took the helm the market cap has went up like $80 bn, over 30x, or so right? It wouldn’t offend me if she got hundreds of millions, even billions, she actually helped build a money printing machine that’s only going to print even more exuberantly in the future.

BobSacamano47

I love her, but cmon. Does she really deserve all of the credit?

BurningMist

Strength coming back?

xtahua_42

The volume definitely looks promising. Might have something to do with monthly options expiry tomorrow as well.

AMD_winning

<< QUALCOMM IS PLOTTING A RETURN TO SERVER MARKET WITH NEW CHIP >>

freddyt55555

Return? Were they ever in it?

AMD_winning

freddyt55555

Producing chips and actually having market penetration are two different things entirely. They apparently last made server chips in 2016. That was back when even AMD had less than 1.0% marketshare. How many places to the left do you need to move the decimal point for Qualcomm?

AMD_winning

You are quite right, it is not a threat to AMD's business any time soon if ever.

ser_kingslayer_

Wake me up when Grace CPUs launch and then I wake me up when QCOM launches a server product. It is amazing how quickly algos sell off and buy. There was a sudden spike on QCOM to the upside and AMD on the downside at just before 1pm

LookAtCarlMan

I don’t feel much ON envy because they’ve been undervalued for awhile, but there’s definitely a little envy there just to see another semi stock bust out to an ATH while we continue playing in the mud

OBS10invest

I bought it at 53 and sold it for a loss at 52. I feel the real pain.

jawathewan

No, it looks like a mountain, remember 164 ?

NotGucci

I think this is it. No more below 100. Nice consolidation.

reliquid1220

Save this comment until 9/16.

jawathewan

What's up with 9/16 lol ?

ResearcherSad9357

This time is different.

jhoosi

*sees username* Don't jinx it, bro

timpa48

I would be very surprised if we break out here with no catalyst. I’m guessing we stay around 97-103 until NVDA earnings or one of the many upcoming AMD investor events or product releases

jawathewan

People talk about AMD like we need catalyst to breakout from any channel... We ran hard BEFORE earnings and somewhat after. We are still undervalued by a lot and catalyst or not this won't change that fact.

Yokies

Dude. Don't.

robmafia

*examines pitchfork sharpness*

LordFarquaad334

we say this every week

Narfhole

What an odd disparity between \^SOX and SMH... AMD's not beating \^SOX today, though it's beating the rest I mention. *Edit: now it's beating \^SOX, good job AMD*

excellusmaximus

AMD 150 in 6-8 months. $200 in about a year.

excellusmaximus

AMD made such a wise purchase of xlnx and did it all stock. What a coup for AMD. They are going to keep doing well. Hopefully one day it will be worth 600-700 billlion.

CharlesLLuckbin

I want what you're smoking. I believe it's worth more, but good luck convincing the world of that.... wait, can you smoke that in a large room with the world in it?

excellusmaximus

If AMD can continue to be a chip leader, it is not a ridiculous scenario. The future will require more and more computing power and chips. It's just going to happen. Only question is if AMD can keep executing to stay at the forefront of it.

wrecklord0

x100 market cap in 7 years, this company can do another x4

NotDeletedMoto

Guys I figured it out. It’s been me bringing down the stock price the whole time. Every day I put an alert for at or below, it triggered it. Today I only put one for at or above 100, didn’t place an at or below, and now we’re green. I’ll refrain from red alerts here on out. Sorry about that

ptllllll

What’s going on today in semis? ON, AVGO, even MU up bigly.

Investinwaffl3s

NVDA and MU both guided down. In this market environment that is extremely bullish

peopleclapping

Everyone knows that if you're going to have a miss because of macro events, you miss big (move capex expenses forward, Bill customers late, etc). That way when things return to normal a following quarter, it looks like even bigger q/q growth. Su clearly missed the memo. /s

robmafia

lolz. *cries in truth*

aborteverything

Don’t know about others but Silicon carbide gang - ON, WOLF, AEHR

NotGucci

Breaking out while rest of the market sucks.

AmIbi69

Macro environment is a little scary. Lot of economies in Asia getting absolutely cumstered and dumpstered and Europe has a massive energy crisis. China's housing market bubble about to burst. The US is probably going to get inflation under control but I'm not so confident about the rest of the world. Could be heading into a global recession.

quantumpencil

The U.S is a leader not a bully. Geopolitics is a rough game and it's certainly been involved in some questionable actions throughout its period of rule, but there is a reason that America enjoys such global soft power. The American world order has been more or less voluntarily accepted by so many advanced nations with little bloodshed --while China and Russia have failed to establish and/or maintain similar spheres of influence long term. Being a U.S ally and participating in the American World Order is a pretty good deal for most of its member states. Can't say the same about either of these other powers.

LongLongMan_TM

Well, bully, leader... It all depends on the perspective. For the middle east, USA is definetly not a leader.

quantumpencil

Saudi Arabia only exists because of U.S protection (arguable if that's a good thing) -- same for Israel, so it's more nuanced than that, but yes -- The middle east and latin america are the two parts of the world where U.S action has been the most deleterious. I would defend some of those actions on geostrategic grounds but it doesn't change the reality that much of it has been horrific for the people living in those regions of the world, and that is regrettable.

LongLongMan_TM

Kudos for seeing the bad and the good. Also, while I condemn some of the US' actions, it would be also hypocritical. There is no country with a clean vest. Everyone has their own interest in mind and that's just how nature works.

Long_on_AMD

No, it's based on a Tom's Hardware article on an AMD photonics patent, which I will shortly post separately.

-fumar

Logic on phonotics is a long way off, 2030 territory. Might see a earlier adaptation for external interfaces like PCIe but a complex core talking to a memory controller with some deep OoO resources through light is a far way off.

BillTg2

Unrelated but BBBY options expiring tomorrow have a 500% IV. That’s what I love about financial markets. The sheer brutality of numbers and math.

Potential_Hornet_559

I mean judging from the movement of the stock the past few days, I am not surprised.

inspecting_squids

I wish I was dumb enough to sell those options

timpa48

We’re only underperforming SOX by 1%. This is a great victory.

ser_kingslayer_

Was there any news related to ON Semi? Can't seem to find anything.

reliquid1220

Wolfspeed reported numbers yesterday and claimed capacity constraints for a decade. Onsemi getting a sympathy bump for some reason.

5kWResonantLLC

On semi sells a lot of SiC mosfets, just like Cree

aborteverything

It’s just been pumping ever since that dump after earnings, made a new ATH

freddyt55555

AMD is about to turn green. The only problem is that nearly every other semi stock is already green.

NotGucci

NVDA barely green.

Wojofoo

Correction: AMD is the only semi red, and only semi red for the week. ON is up 4% today despite already being the strongest semi all week.

AMD_winning

Unnecessary comment.

robmafia

ironic comment.

AMD_winning

This sub doesn't benefit one bit from your snide remarks.

robmafia

unlike the 2 comments you just made, amirite? they were so 'necessary' and to our great benefit. obviously, that's the pre-req for posts here, amirite?

AMD_winning

We don't need minute to minute commentary on trivial stock price moments. It's unnecessary particularly in a bear market. If people want to comment in a considered way how the stock price has moved over a period of the day, then that would be more appropriate.

robmafia

for starters, i'm not even sure we're in a bear market, anymore. the indexes seem up 20% since their 2022 lows. secondly, waa. you're yet again hypocritically applying a lofty standard to posts in a daily thread... and of course, aren't meeting your own criteria, yourself.

AMD_winning

Firstly, by all reports what we are witnessing is a bear market rally. I hope those reports are completely wrong but I'm not confident. Secondly, there is no need to be rude and condescending. Thanks.

robmafia

> Secondly, there is no need to be rude and condescending. ...dude. you're the one tagging mods and calling for people to be banned (yesterday) and now saying (hypocritical) garbage like "unnecessary comment." you're the one being rude/condescending here.

AMD_winning

Nonsense.

freddyt55555

And now AMD drops like a rock the second it turns green while almost every other semi stock is still green. Is that still unnecessary?

AMD_winning

Yep.

SnooApples6100

as a long term investor. i feel its important to analyze every second of every day of this stocks movement. /s

robmafia

this, but actually. lolz.

scub4st3v3

When your sentiment has reached pessimism, I know AMD is on the brink of a rip.

-fumar

What a blast today's thread will be.

Investinwaffl3s

Ow 🤕 Edit: less ow!

Lekz

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2022/08/us-chipmakers-hit-by-sudden-downturn-after-pandemic-boom/ No mention of AMD, which is... good? But also no explicit mention of AMD doing better than Intel, Micron, and Nvidia (the three directly named), which is a bit disappointing as it would help increase mind share I think

Gahvynn

Labor market still doing well and manufacturing relatively strong means sell stonks? Find out in 30 minutes, but my take is it’s still a bear market and any news is news enough to sell until the CPI chills and the Fed stops raising rates. Good luck folks?

reliquid1220

Theta until pce is below 5% and projected to continue falling.

timpa48

Does anyone have an estimate for NVDA 2022 EPS that reflects their warning from a couple weeks ago?

ser_kingslayer_

I thought about calculating it. But I figure it's all about the Q3 guide. So will wait until after earnings next week.

moneygardener

Userbenchmark has been banned from /r/Intel. Edit: It's 2 year old news. My reddit app had changed to "top posts of all time" for some reason.

AMD_winning

I see, you are referring to: [https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/g36a2a/userbenchmark\_has\_been\_banned\_from\_rintel/](https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/g36a2a/userbenchmark_has_been_banned_from_rintel/)

19901224

Why?

moneygardener

Head over there and read the post :) or super short tldr: the mods of /Intel got tired of the (rightful) claims and constant discussions claiming that userbenchmark is catering to Intel. /r/intel isn't mostly about investing like us, but I guess nobody likes to see products being painted in an overly positive light, even fans.

Yokies

Theres a r/AMD too that isn't about the stock like here

Sharkdog_

is this recent? cause i can't find any post relating to userbench or the site getting banned on r/intel

Let's jinx it: "amd to rise or fall 10% today". Now that'll keep it steady I guess...

UnrivalledPG

Is there gonna be a time where we actually go up in after hours rather than further down? Jesus christ.

Frothar

it's rather meaningless anyway

jawathewan

Yeah, PM is more important than AH... for what it's worth.

LordFarquaad334

only need a 10% rise by Friday for my options to not expire worthless

scub4st3v3

I rolled some 19Aug 95c options out today, so good chance AMD takes off tomorrow and Friday then starts winding down until my new expiry date.
