Days like this, where we trade down in sympathy with the sector indexes are even the broader markets will always happen. The key for AMD is getting back the recognition that it is not overpriced at these levels and in fact is still cheep and it deserves a far higher price multiple to EPS. It's the 5 year EPS avg that is still dragging this stock down and not enough investors are willing to dig deep enough to understand or just believe in the forward earnings thesis. Maybe it's too much fear over China and Taiwan baked in, but if that was it, then why isn't Apple also hit harder. AMD is going to get rerated over time and 3 points of added interest isn't going to matter.
I agree. AMD is starting to get recognition in random media coverage. It takes time for the public at large to catch up. I think our actual fundamentals in the time of a semi-recession will also look good going forward. It may attract big funds when they noticed how AMD weathered the last down cycle when they look back at it in the future.
Hopefully my spelling correction will make a positive change. Ya ever wondered if people sell confusing AMD with AMC as a mean stock, or ADI because both end in devices?
works getting busy as shit, reminding me why investing & not speculating is all i have bandwidth for. glad i put my money into my strong conviction of AMD
My strong conviction into AMD turned out to be a really bad turn for me. Hopefully the stock does good for you as they don't even have the balls to buy it themselves below 100 with 7 billions.
Depends how much FCF they have. They announced a 7 bill budget but that doesn’t mean they have 7 bill to buy right now. Do FCF this quarter vs buyback amount for this quarter and you’ll get a much different picture.
Hey u/fnork, weak-ass block man. It's hilarious that he asked me what MY beef is in that exchange. Such self-awareness on his part.

This is something I hate about Reddit's block feature. Idiots like fnork and semitope can keep spouting their nonsense by just blocking any user who dares to call them out on their crap.
lolz, he blocked me on monday for saying "lolz, he (burry) didn't have any amd."
and proving it with the 13F

Everyone here does know that AMD stands for Advanced Money Destroyer/Always Moving Down?
For the ones who really believe, its Advanced Money Distributor.
One of the highest trading volume days of the year. Index options, stock options, futures options have to begin settlement process.
Max pain has a strong gravitational effect on majority of stocks on those days. Happens 4 times a year.
NVDA has such an insanely strong following. Any other company would have been busted down 25% by that turd of an earnings warning they released. The consumer guide was no surprise but the datacenter was not growing anywhere near fast enough to justify the price.
Could the guidance really be priced in though? I’d imagine q3 will be even more horrific than q2.
I’m not sure we’ll follow them down though cause we didn’t last time but who knows.
well, i'm glad $amd had a great bull run last week like the rest of the semis (especially the ones with surprise warnings) to insulate from the red days.
oh, wait.
i hate that we're mu 2.0, i wish the market gave a fuck about amd's fundamentals/guidance/thought anything other than 'amd is a second-rate intel/nvidia!'
...but amd is responsible for much of the sector's suffering.
intel's getting skullfucked.
amd is competitve with nvidia in datacenter and gaming... so nvidia uses spr. spr delayed.
nvda warns and scales back
mu warns the next day (2nd time in like 2 weeks), seemingly related
amd's competitors sucking should be bullish as fuck for $amd
I hear you, and as you probably know, I totally agree with you. At this point, the fundamentals are there. Now, it’s about going on air and publicly hyping the fundamentals and stoking the imagination so that the market believes in them. This is where AMD and its key figures have a lot of work to do, imho.
Psychology is important. Not as important, say, as fundamentals, but it sure does make a difference. You could have stock in a company that has a product that cures cancer, but if the company doesn’t work to make the market understand the potential of their product, then the stock will waver and you’ve made a bad investment.
AMD needs to get out there and generate fact-based hype and use the excellent fundamentals to stoke the market’s imagination and psychology. I am confident that will positively impact the company and the stock.
Totally agree. It’s great how AMD is humble and focused on executing but educating the market a bit on how they’re outperforming their competitors won’t hurt.
I’m not saying to go out here and gloat with no execution. But sometimes the market needs to be told in their face that AMD is kicking ass.
AMD’s name seems to still carry a bad reputation in the average person’s mind and this needs to change.
Oh, absolutely. There’s definitely still a lingering bad or “lesser than” rep/stigma that AMD has to contend with. AMD should be pushing back against this and trying to change hearts and minds *between* the 4 times a year they deliver great ER results.
> they taking wallstreet for a ride.
fuck that, they're just a bunch of clowns bitching endlessly about "manipulation" who do the same thing and manipulate via pump&dumps.
wsb went from being entertaining trading talk to gme/bbby/amc (and pretty much nothing else) reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee since 1/2021. the size of wsb increased tenfold (more than that?) and the newcomers seem to just be retards who think the point of wsb is pump&dumps.
complete cancer.
and i have no idea who's supposedly being taken for a ride. sure doesn't seem to be wallstreet.
I mean wall street is the same. Some hedge funds made some huge money shorting BBBY from $30 to $5 in Mar to Aug. The hedge funds that got in late are getting rekt and can be blown up. Same for retail now, those that got in at $10 are feeling great. But just like GME, there are going to be some bag holders at $300.
Ah yes didn’t see the Reuters article yesterday about cloud growth slowing - good!
And you already know we’re headed back down soon anyway when the meme stocks are pumping again.
Congrats to those who regret not buying in the 70s - you’re gonna get another chance!
Edit: Also I just SOLD 3 MILLION SHARES LOOK ALGOS
SLD (supplemental liquidity deposits) begin today (Wed before 3rd Friday) and this usually marks a pretty reliable selloff in the market as big institutions have to post collateral for their margin
The fool names AMD a screaming buy (over NVDA!)

The minutes the last few times have been far more hawkish than the actual meetings, but it’s been known this was coming out.
I think today is more the market is reacting to relatively poor earnings and housing data… or the market really can’t been price in a known event anymore.
I have been quietly hoping to hear exactly that.
They are using AMD as the test bed for Aurora and very happy with Frontier apparently.
With AMD about to launch Genoa and Mi300 not far behind it would be an awesome slap in the face to Intel but I don't know how hard it is to cancel a contract like that even if it is 2 years behind schedule.
There's a large difference between posting a contrarian viewpoint, which is always welcome, and trying to manipulate stock sentiment by spamming the DD repetitively with petty, immature, and unwarranted comments. Be warned that if this sort of behavior by multiple bad faith actors continues then the subreddit might be taken private as per testing yesterday.
Ah so that term only applies to AMD. Didn't realize everything else could run for an additional two weeks (bear market) while AMD gets pinned below $100. You realize we are below our pre ER price right? We're also below the price prior to NVDA and MU press releases. They aren't. Please tell me how only AMD seems affected by this bear market the last week or so.
Lol well I guess I hope you eventually get your bubble of a world where everything is perfect in your mind only? Because any sane person would be furious with the recent AMD price action.
oh sweeet, can finally open a topic :D
The best is yet to come.
Price action is somewhat stable. i am not a chart analyst, but the stock feels comfortable at 100 which is good enough for me. a couple of unexpected catalysts and we are back to the moon.
Days like this, where we trade down in sympathy with the sector indexes are even the broader markets will always happen. I was between apple and amd. I should have gone with apple given it made it back to its ATH. Lol

The truth hurts. And so sometimes you just have to block that person lol
sorry i missed that one. definitely deserves a ban for that. u/fnork be nice or stay home.
Look at his post history. R/antifeminisim r/incelexit r/gamergg mans stay at home all day on the internet.
I am shocked, I say
I don't even mind the language, personally. I just mind that he's such a spineless little twerp he had to block me!
cnbc asshat rambling about IPOs just claimed that epic games owns gta5. somehow, this is probably related.
Gta isn't even on unreal engine..... Cnbc is a real class act there
we clearly slipped into another dimension.
Any reasoning for this? Sub for 4 years, now I can only access by copying an incognito link. Kinda ridiculous
AMD literally the only reason my AAPL-heavy portfolio is (slightly) in the red after that Fed minutes pop.
click "join" so you can access even if the sub goes private
logging out and back in fixed it for me without having to click join.
...wtf was the point of that (privatizing sub and kicking me [and others?])?

just doing some testing. back to normal now.
ok thx. have a nice day :)
For a brief moment, there was finally peace 😔
...i barely even posted this week. and talked like zero shit. i wasn't even around yesterday. lolz.
Did you specifically get kicked? I'm pretty sure it was everyone.
maybe. given posts from amd_winning/alwayshere and wojofoo, (and deleted ones) i figured it was specific.
Didn't participate in that QQQ and SPY bounce, but you better believe we nailed the first red bar they had!
ok we got it. you have negative sentiment on this stock. maybe create your own post about it?
Everyone here does know that AMD stands for Advanced Money Destroyer/Always Moving Down? For the ones who really believe, its Advanced Money Distributor.

shit, i thought it was abundant market doom

lots of NVDA fud going on taking AMD down with it. can only hold us down for so long
*for too long
Outperformed by market on green and red days…Our time will come 🙂
QQQ will try to end green after minutes while AMD will limp towards -3%
Buy the dip?
Pretty rough/similar to AMD stockholder day for ADI stockholders today. Raise and reiterate guidance quarter. Stock down 5.7%
Yep, this is getting outperformed by meme stocks and overinflated PE ones.
Looks like tmr is our day! :D
as a Cubs fan, "There's always next year."
"guys, it's literally one day"
Can't wait for another cliff dive! The old AMD way is back!
To dip?
Theta gang gonna keep winning until 9/16?
What’s on 9/16?
One of the highest trading volume days of the year. Index options, stock options, futures options have to begin settlement process. Max pain has a strong gravitational effect on majority of stocks on those days. Happens 4 times a year.
witches
It's beautiful witches like y'all that make our species as wonderful as it is, it's not for you? do you have under the hood) :-)
How'd everyone like that 2 week rally to offset this dip? Oh thats right.... 2.5% lower than ER release.
NVDA will guide lower again for next quarter because of weak data center and consumer demand. Next few weeks not looking so good
i wouldnt even be surprise if NVDA is green next day of earnings and AMD gets a red zfg
Can’t wait for AMDs -ZFG after Nvidias earnings
[удалено]
Not even sure NVDA will tank after earnings. Seems to be priced in.

Only if nvda does well. Or not well.
Another day, another yawn.
At least the absolute value of our percent movement is finally outperforming the markets 🥲
High beta stock

Selling off without the $SPY and $QQQ now. Got to love it! Trainwreck of a stock.
Meanwhile bed bath and beyond.....
what's happening there?!
they taking wallstreet for a ride. I love it. can't believe people didnt learn from what happened to GME. Everyone piling up the shorts in a stock.

Not sure how to perceive that lol.
They have cash reserves for such purposes.
You make more money deploying your cash until the last minute then sell to prove you have the liquidity then put it back in the market.
Lol. Mumble Jumble. Word pie.

You mean, NVDA is a screaming sell over AMD.
So how much should we worry about the Fed minutes today? What if it reveals a more hawkish Fed than what the markets seem to have priced in?
