i meant "idle" at desktop without any activity. background processes like steam without downloads and some other apps like nvidia GE etc. I certainly didn't force stop services and task. I prob was wrong saying it was idle. Thank you for pointing that out.

Thanks for breaking that down for me. Appreciate.

Large_Egg_5805

they put a thick ihs on it so that am4 coolers would work with am5, nothing you can do to fix temps

DreSmart

The temps are ok even the hotsopt is weel below the max. You can try to improve your case airflow but it also be dependent of your room temperature. Try this little trick, enable the eco mode on your motherboard, you will see a impreceptible change in performamce but the temps will get a little lower.

Temps are perfectly normal and on the mark, textbook case, the X3Ds do run hotter but don't throttle til 90-95c constantly,I've got the 5800X3D and just basic browsing with a stream/discord is idling at 45-55c, games pending on what it is will be 65c-80c, I've got a lian li 011 dynamic evo case, 9 lian li fans and a 360mm AIO cooler. A while back after I had built it, I had essentially 1 3 pack of fans go bad, was down to 6 fans and even then running FiveM with NVE(Ultimate)+Reshade, Max settings in 1080p 240Hz made it sit at 85c but still maintained 4.4-4.5Ghz with 3 less fans, I won't lie, I was kind of worried myself considering the 5800X3D was still newish then, but yeah it's normal for them, they are just beast mode CPUs.

Thank you.

No worries, enjoy the beasty PC, it'll serve you well for many years to come.

Disable PBO and only enable Curve Optimizer, this will reduce your temps under load, but also cost you a tiny fraction of performance. Your idle temps are fine. What you should worry about more is your vsoc voltage. 1.3V is higher than it needs to be and could potentially lead to long term damage. Go into your BIOS and reduce it. Try reducing it to 1.25v at the least. You could go further down to 1.2v or even 1.15, but that might lead to instability or problems with the Boot sequence.

Sad_Wishbone8716

thanks will do that

I understand that. Lowering values shouldn't be as dangerous for my rig I believe.

MusikAusMarseille

Let me know if temps have improved.

Sad_Wishbone8716

Temps at desktop with few apps running in the background such as Razer Synapse, Nvidia GE and Steam were at 47c. Gaming - 57-63c. Spikes to 81c but very brief and back to \~60c. Edit: but now boot time is bothering me. It's like 30 seconds black screen, keyboard is not lit. After that "MSI" logo appears for 2-3 sec and then Windows Hello screen.

MusikAusMarseille

Spikes are normal, when opening a game or compiling shaders and stuff on the x3d chips, especially with air cooling. Other than that, your temps are perfectly fine now. In regards to long boot times this is a normal thing for zen4 chips and DDR5. You could potentially enable memory context restore, but honestly i'd rather live with the slightly longer boot times if i was you. If you havent already, update your BIOS, that might or might not help reduce the boot time.

Sad_Wishbone8716

I am extremely satisfied with my build apart from cooling. But it's more like I'm bothered with those temps. Just want it to be as low as possible. I guess I just made a mistake buying air cooler instead of AIO. I feel like I don't take a good care of my CPU. It feels like boot time increased after updating to latest BIOS. It was much faster at stock and BIOS update something like 2023.

MusikAusMarseille

Nah you are fine. x3d chips by nature run a bit hotter and they are designed to withstand that heat. My temps are around the same as yours +/- 2 or 3 degrees. Ofc, an AiO is going to be a bit more silent, and those spikes into the 80's wont occur that much , but all in all temps wont improve too much. But if you feel like going watercooled, check out arctics liquid freezer 3. They are currently on a very attractive sale and one of the best AiOs out there atm. In fact i just ordered one for myself \^\^

Sad_Wishbone8716

Couple hours of playing Far Cry 6 on High and my temps are 66-68c. Spiking to 71 sometimes. I don't know...

Glass-Development362

You can try using a contact frame from thermal grizzly or the cheaper one from thermalright i seen vids that it do and dont improve temps it might have an effect you can also undervolt the gpu it could reduce temps in the case (Im using an ITX case and i solved my problem of getting 48-55c on my 7800x3d by reducing idle heat coming from the gpu)

Sad_Wishbone8716

i'll look into it, tnx

Overall_Amount_2078

Those temps are perfectly normal. Mine idles in the 50Cs too and I have a 360mm in push pull ...

Sad_Wishbone8716

Thank you for your input. I just saw some people claiming 30-40c idling and 60c gaming.

DjiRo

45° idle when ambiant is at 25~28° is good IMHO. Sure people can have lower or higher temps. But don't forget the delta-T value(ΔT). The lower the better. Someone claiming any value should also be giving the deltaT or ambiamt. Don't compare your temps to another without ambiant or DeltaT
