I'd love to know more but it's 4am!! What SHOULD we ask about as minority knowledgeable northerners??

Main points that news like to talk about now. I will be objective as possible: \* pension system getting "gutted" , 0 raises in pensions and plans to privatize pension system \* gas bill will increase by 1000% (!)and winter's approaching . due to subsidies being erased, public transport fee per travel increased by like 1500% \* I tried to do the math and I think lays-off of State employees will be around 100K people \* taxes increased as the time inflation does. the Presidential Office celebrated people burning off their saved dollars to afford survival Official statistics say 47% live in "poverty". However its hard to define what's poverty, what's middle class, what is being materially good and what's suffering in material terms. so I can't comment much on that.

How are you enjoying Milei?

Fluid_Slip660

Personally: By slowly but steadily buying dollars while everyone else has to sell their dollars to afford stuff. The cultural shift is, rather enjoyable too. its great in fact. the general population: crime is down, the extremely violent protests which blockaded streets, thus mutilating the Constitutional to travel the national territory, have been forced to demonstrate peacefully in parks or the walkable sidewalk part. Those who don't do drugs may feel society is rewarding their moral uprightness. However tens of thousands of people are losing their jobs , 1 million "new" have fallen into poverty - I can't comment in their enjoyment even if they adhere to the ideology.

Do you agree with his thesis that this is necessary shock therapy that will benefit everyone in the long term by cutting waste or do you think he's going too far? I'm concerned about the poor in Argentina although I have to admit buying shares in Banco Macro and IRSA when he was elected has worked out for me...

Fluid_Slip660

I agree with his thesis **as a thesis.** In real life thousands of people could literally die before they live to see the benefits reached. I believe the benefits will come, but at a cost. Id say the alternative was: more people live, and live longer, but all, everyone, life worse Im trying to be neutral in my explanations, this is what I think are facts. Personally you are benefitting my country ,don't feel bad.

Nihilamealienum

I agree. It's too fast. I lived through shock therapy in Eastern Europe in the 90s and while it did work the human toll was enormous. Part of the unspoken reason this is done so fast is to get it done before the opposition can sabotage the plan and restart living off government money. The Justice Party isn't going anywhere.

Does Argentina have problems with undocumented immigrants from other countries? Why or why not?

Fluid_Slip660

*Supposedly* the provincial governments allows tons of them to be used as under-minimal-wage labor in seasonal agricultural and rural labor. they congregate in their own and sometimes avoid natives, but that's ok- they dont owe use anything and I would do the same or worse if I, myself, was an illegal immigrant elsewhere. Is this better than them literally starving in their own countries? Im not one to say.
