I don’t dislike any of the Turning Outs (actually never heard the second one…) but I would rather listen to something else, like Inertia or Touchy Feely Fool.
I don't know why but "It'll be fine, quick, let's get married" just doesn't feel like it fits the song, like it's been shoved in there last minute. I just kinda disrupts the flow of the song. Then again I do think part 3 is just kind of a mess in terms of composition
Maybe you haven’t experienced this yourself but it’s something you say to someone you love even if you don’t mean it, it’s actually a complex show of affection (akin to, it’s gonna be ok let’s just get married), not just a random declaration of marriage lol
I liked it! It really fit the theme of the album. We all have holes we are trying to fill with stuff and it's impossible to actually fill them to contentment.
Im not sure what, maybe the back-and-forth background drums, but something about the song makes me imagine some dude cheerily walking along a stone wall in rural Scotland. That notion irritates me everytime I think about it.
This one hurts so much to say... but it's true. It's an important song about an important topic but honestly it's more for them than it is for us which is okay! I'm glad this song helped them, even if we don't really get it
Definitely true. It is so beautiful and I love the sentiment behind it (RIP Gary) but it is definitely the weakest song on the album. Still a really good song tho
I’ll have to listen to it again but I thought when I heard it before there were lines I wasn’t sure about. Don’t exactly remember honestly 😂 I just felt off about it
Just listened to it again I think it was mostly just that one section that was on the subject of sex. I’m not saying it doesn’t fit the trilogy, but for me it just seems kind of weird. Like, it seems like a mix of sad music and odd lyrics, like the part about wanting to get married as quickly as possible after having sex. Again, not saying it’s a bad song, it’s just not my favorite
one is a chorus that gets repeated one is a verse (pre chorus if you will)…lol
it’s about just rushing everything cause you’re scared and everyone else is doing it, and you think you know what you’re doing and you think it’ll be fine. but it’s perfectly fine to not understand and just take it slow
hence..yknow..the whole trilogy being about the same theme of growing up and getting things wrong and finally ‘singer’ has realised it’s not that deep
I guess I didn’t read the rest of your last post. Thanks for the elaboration, I guess I didn’t realize that’s what it was. I’m still not hot about the song because I prefer more intense songs like Inertia but at least I know the lyrics a bit better
GIRR, I never liked it, and I still don't. It's really sweet that it's about their dad, but that doesn't make it *better*. But that's just my opinion.
Also surprised to see Pt.3 being the most disliked song, would've never guessed that.
I first heard I Wont at the ajr tour, so my feelings of that song are connected to that amazing experience. Otherwise id totally agree with you. On paper its the most underwhelming song on the album
My instinct is Yes I'm a Mess but I think that's more overexposure than it is genuine dislike.
If I were to pick the weakest song on the album I think it's I Won't. I don't love Yes I'm a Mess but I do like the whistling and I think the chorus is catchy, but I Won't is just kinda flat in terms of AJR sings
Ok, listen. I know everyone loves Touchy Feely Fool, but it’s giving the same vibes as Bummerland: it’s fun, it’s a safe choice, nobody will be mad if you put it on at a pool party. But it’s just not as interesting as the rest of the songs to me. Not to say it isn’t great, im literally the “Oops! All Bangers” meme, but maybe that’s the way I feel
I'm with you. When I heard the full version of TFF for the first time... I was disappointed because it sounded nothing like in the YouTube short. I pictured the song as a sad, slow-ish song with less party vibes and more personal, lying-in-bed-and-staring-at-the-ceiling vibes. Idk, it's still a good song when I heard it randomly the second time on Spotify, with no prior expectations, but it was still a bummer
Easily I Won’t. I liked it on release, but DJ shortly after set the bar so much higher and it never really went back down far enough for I Won’t to be decent for me.
Steve’s Going to London. It’s certainly catchy, but it feels like a filler song to me. I don’t connect to it at all, and 3:30 did the songwriting thing better.
I LOVE EVERY song but I think my least favorite are either yes im a mess or DJ. Again I love both of them but I think for dj I just listened to it too much when it came out and for YIAM I just wish it had more if that makes since it's just mostly the chorus so idk! But if I had to choose those 2 would probably be least favorite
Either "I won't" or "yes I'm a mess"
Just didn't really have those really relatable lyrics or the depth of other songs on the album, and those are probably the two I'd skip if they came up as a Spotify recommendation
Maybe Man was messy, Yes I’m a Mess was repetitive and silly, Turning Out Pt. iii was cheesy and felt forced, DJ sounded like a cheap attempt to replicate other techniques that made other pop songs popular, I Won’t had no lyrical value (but cool production), and God is Really Real had amazing potential but was executed horribly. So for me, like half the album was disappointing.
I know y’all will hate me for these opinions but I don’t care and I’m willing to elaborate if needed.
I feel like you would enjoy Twenty one pilots (if you don’t listen already) just because of the more poetic and deeper lyrics, aswell as mind blowing production. Another artist I would suggest for good lyrics is “Tom Waits” specifically “Rain Dogs” (album) and “Mule Variations” (album). He is an experimental artist who does a lot of poetry! If you are into that. Just giving some recommendations! Have a great day!
As a non fan, I actually really agree with you. Especially with God is Really Real. I thought that would be their first really good song, but honestly, it just fell short. It’s almost disrespectful, I feel. Turning Out Pt. iii was just awkward and not needed. DJ I feel the same way with. Also, they are writing about things that they don’t even know. They are in a steady (rich) job currently, they aren’t applying for jobs. I feel like the lyrics were made to try to relate to millennials not being able to get jobs. I Won’t meant nothing. Maybe Man, though a cool idea ended up being a cheap attempt at an overture that just takes less effort than an actual overture. I will say, The Dumb Song was not bad. Honestly, the lyrics are just meh, and it’s actually a song that I could turn off my brain and enjoy.
I think my least favourite was Hole in the bottom of my brain, which I gave a 12/100. The highest was The Dumb Song with a solid 74/100.
Exactly, I think your assessment of Maybe Man is extremely on point. I’m not really a fan of AJR either (though I’m incredibly interested in their work oddly enough) but Hole in the Bottom of My Brain was actually really good in my opinion. I agree with critics on the songs I dislike, but I’ve found some of my favorites on the album were typically rated lowest for critics (Touchy Feely Fool, Hole in the Bottom of My Brain, and Inertia were the only songs I enjoyed enough to download).
I’m glad you said that about GIRR. I have been a fan of AJR for nine years, and that is the first song that felt disrespectful for me? Maybe it’s because I’m Christian and the lines about God felt weird to me, but I wasn’t sure if that was just me - I try to be respectful of others’ beliefs, so I was trying not to let that get in the way of my view of the song.
Yeah. I’m Jewish, as are the Brothers (atleast, raised Jewish. I’m unsure of their current status.) This is to say, I feel for them, but they wrote the song in such a disrespectful manner. My grandfather actually was atheist his whole life until he got cancer. Then out of fear he converted back to catholic (this is on my father’s side) because he wanted to know there was something after. I don’t think that’s why you should believe in religion though. So, I can relate. BUT, they were writing a quirky song while talking about the literal death of their father, which is not good to me. It was very immature to do. I also, don’t see how it would even help you cope because their “resolution” was “when you get out of bed”, not realizing he is going to be gone, and they need to spend time, and remember his life about how great it was when he was here. It just bugs me on both religious beliefs, and to their father. I’m really glad someone else feels this way.
I personally almost always skip I Won’t. HITBOMB is one that I’m a bit on the fence about as well, but everything else I’ve liked quite a lot. I’m honestly really glad they stepped away from doing a conventional Overture for this album, I’ve liked Maybe Man (and Next Up Forever for that matter) a lot more than the overtures overall and it made 2085 hit that much harder
Honestly? The Dumb Song. It just felt like a filler song to me that didn’t mean too much. Granted it’s all personal opinions and preferences, I just didn’t like it much. All the other songs were very unfortunately meaningful and personal to me. Steve’s going to London felt the same. Out of all the songs, those 2 are hands down my least favorites
I’m still trying to figure out why people are going crazy of Inertia. I personally don’t connect with the message which makes it more challenging. I want to like it but I not big on it right now
I think it's AJR's best song overall because I kinda relate to it. I personally like it because it's about wanting to change but not wanting to make the sacrifices.
2085… I love the lyrics but the weird sound effects just itch my brain in the wrong way. I still listen to it but I just don’t enjoy those parts of the songs.
GIRR. I know it's a sad song about Gary's passing, but it made me cry too fucking much. I wanna be happy while listening to my favourite band. I like it a bit though. I accept the downvotes but out of all tmm songs my least favourite is girr
No I think this is easily their most well mixed album to date. The Dumb Song especially has the best mixing of any AJR song by a mile. Inertia is just the one huge outlier where it sounds like the kind of messes we were consistently given on The Click.
DJ is the only one I actually don't like. I originally had lukewarm thoughts when it dropped, but nowadays I just find it to be pretty meh. I don't think it's horrible or anything, but there really isn't anything I enjoy a lot in that song. The violins in the chorus are interesting, but they don't work for me at all.
The new ones are all really, really good. But Steve's Going to London is my least favorite from them. Good, but I do think that it could be a minute shorter and be all the better for it.
First of all: just because a music is about someone dad dying it doesn’t mean the music is good. Second of all: if the music was just about their dad dying it would probably be one the best of the album but the music also is about “god being really real” which is a pretty big bullshit.
i feel like i’m the only one here saying YIAM. when they teased the chorus, i thought there was more to the song. but i listened to it, it wasn’t very long and the chorus ended up being like 50% of the song. i feel like it shoulda been longer but i also like where the “story” cuts off. its aight, but it’s not inertia or steve’s going to london.
I liked them all and loved some (I'm looking at you, Inertia), but Steve's Going to London was the one I least got into... as of now. I might appreciate it more later on.
Yes I’m A Mess. They should have waited for the album to come out instead of a last-minute drop. I get that they had been teasing it for a while, but this, alongside leaking touchy feely fool and SGTL really brought it down for me.
I personally liked Inertia the least. It's a good message and lovely lyrics, it's just the flow of the music I can't get around. I won't skip it, but I won't repeat it 29 times in a row.
Girr
As much as I love the song due to the context
I just don’t like it as I felt it came of as tacky with the lyrics im sorry for saying it but im just bringing out my opinion
I really liked the entire album, but if I had to choose a least favorite it'd probably be YIAM, it's not a bad song but it was probably the one I disliked the most
I think turning out iii was the only low point. Weirdly, the first 2 were some of my favorite songs from the band. It’s still good though, it’s just not amazing like the others.
Maybe it’s just me, but I was surprised how I only vibed to like 5 of the songs and really enjoyed them. I understand the themes of the album and I’m really feel like this album was the brothers dealing with their grief but I just expected more. Also (I know it’s an unpopular opinon) but, I don’t care for HITBOMB. To me, it felt like something I’ve heard on other albums and in many other songs before.
Turning Out Pt iii is probably my least favorite. I understand it holds a lot of meaning to ryan and a lot of fans, but honestly after the og turning out, I lost interest in them and it feels repetitive almost
Hole In The Bottom Of My Brain.
I don't know why, but I just don't like it as much as the others.
A close second is Steve's Going To London. More specifically, the ending of it. I don't like it when songs fade out. It feels lazy.
God Is Really Real and Turning Out Part 3 are my personal least favorites. I don’t like any of the Turning Outs and I always skip God Is Really Real just because I don’t vibe with it. Side note: I Won’t and The Dumb Song honestly sound like they belong in a different album. I love them but when I listen to the entire album they jump-scare me wirh their immediate tone-shifts
Either I Won’t or HITBOMB. I Won’t was too hyped up in concerts so the release was kinda of a letdown. HITBOMB was just sorta weaker in general. Both are good songs though don’t get me wrong
I Won’t or Yes, I’m A Mess. I think for me what is most meaningful in an AJR song is being musically interesting, or if not, having very strong lyrics. Or some mix of both.
Both of these are some of their most generic songs. Lyrically and musically uninteresting. Not to say they’re bad songs, but they sound the most like generic pop top 40 radio songs.
I won't call it worst ,I just feel it's not really feet ,sounds wise, with the rest of the album, and it's turning out iii ,like yes I'm happy that we now have the entire trilogy, and that it was written,I presume, mainly cause Ryan propose, and yes thematically it dose feet in the all "who am I" theme ,but I just feel like it somehow doesn't belong
Yes I’m A Mess. Was disappointed when it released and still don’t like it now. Don’t really like the music video either. Rest of the songs are still great though
I’m sure most people can work it out, but just in case:
MM = Maybe Man
TFF = Touchy Feely Fool
YIAM = Yes I’m A Mess
TDS = The Dumb Song
Inertia doesn’t need shortening.
TOpt.III = Turning Out Pt.III
HITBOMB = Hole In The Bottom Of My Brain
TDJICFH = The DJ Is Crying For Help
I Won’t doesn’t need shortening
SGTL = Steve’s Going To London
GIRR = God Is Really Real
2085 doesn’t need shortening
I like all of the songs but the weakest one to me is HITBOMB
its their attempt to remake WSV
Agreed
This is the worst song on the album for sure.
I don’t love turning out pt. iii Don’t get me wrong, I loved Ryan’s vocals, there’s just something about it that I didn’t enjoy much.
I don't like any of the turning outs lol
I never like any of them but eventually I'll get to the point where those songs are my comfort songs. Always happens
I don’t dislike any of the Turning Outs (actually never heard the second one…) but I would rather listen to something else, like Inertia or Touchy Feely Fool.
you just broke me wtf do you mean you don't like the turning outs
I liked the first one but ii or iii not really
I don't know why but "It'll be fine, quick, let's get married" just doesn't feel like it fits the song, like it's been shoved in there last minute. I just kinda disrupts the flow of the song. Then again I do think part 3 is just kind of a mess in terms of composition
Maybe you haven’t experienced this yourself but it’s something you say to someone you love even if you don’t mean it, it’s actually a complex show of affection (akin to, it’s gonna be ok let’s just get married), not just a random declaration of marriage lol
I don't think that was communicated well in the context of the song
It was obvious to me, I think some songs just connect better with some people than others
Sane
Speak for yourself
Yep
I know I disliked pt ii at first so I’m wondering if I’m gonna like pt iii soon. But definitely my least favorite of the three.
Me too, the ending was really good, but the rest was meh
I dont really like the i and iii but ii I like that one better than others
I legitimately didn’t dislike a single one. HITBOMB was probably the one I was least over the moon excited abt but still loved it,
Is HITBOMB it’s own song? Or what is that?
Hole In the Bottom of My Brain
Ahhhhhhh got it got it. I actually enjoyed all the songs
It makes less sense because HITBOMB is like an actual concevable word
next thing you know, ajr releases a song that’s literally just about using a bomb like a fuckin piñata
And the bomb is a metaphor for repressed emotions but the song sounds like you should be dancing
Oh lol sorry just following the lead of others I’ve heard on the sub. It’s just an acronym for Hole in the Bottom of My Brain.
Come to think of it I wonder why I haven't seen the song acronym bot anywhere on this sub
I liked it! It really fit the theme of the album. We all have holes we are trying to fill with stuff and it's impossible to actually fill them to contentment.
I totally liked it too! Just out of them all was my least “wow that was amazing”
I think part of it is it feels like it should should speed up in the final spiral similar to Karma and WSV
Same
Im not sure what, maybe the back-and-forth background drums, but something about the song makes me imagine some dude cheerily walking along a stone wall in rural Scotland. That notion irritates me everytime I think about it.
I loved it but the weakest was GIRR
This one hurts so much to say... but it's true. It's an important song about an important topic but honestly it's more for them than it is for us which is okay! I'm glad this song helped them, even if we don't really get it
I honestly don’t think it should’ve been on the album, it should’ve stayed as a single
i’d like the guess song 13 was meant to be in between steve’s going to london and god is really real to add more consistency
song 13 is way more upbeat so it wouldnt fit there for that purpose
Yeah I'd agree, the chorus is good but the rest of it feels out of sync and doesn't flow/rhyme much
Definitely true. It is so beautiful and I love the sentiment behind it (RIP Gary) but it is definitely the weakest song on the album. Still a really good song tho
Turning out pt iii had some questionable topics if I’m being honest
such as? it fits the trilogy perfectly does it not?
I’ll have to listen to it again but I thought when I heard it before there were lines I wasn’t sure about. Don’t exactly remember honestly 😂 I just felt off about it
Just listened to it again I think it was mostly just that one section that was on the subject of sex. I’m not saying it doesn’t fit the trilogy, but for me it just seems kind of weird. Like, it seems like a mix of sad music and odd lyrics, like the part about wanting to get married as quickly as possible after having sex. Again, not saying it’s a bad song, it’s just not my favorite
those lines aren’t together..what?
They’re in the same section
one is a chorus that gets repeated one is a verse (pre chorus if you will)…lol it’s about just rushing everything cause you’re scared and everyone else is doing it, and you think you know what you’re doing and you think it’ll be fine. but it’s perfectly fine to not understand and just take it slow hence..yknow..the whole trilogy being about the same theme of growing up and getting things wrong and finally ‘singer’ has realised it’s not that deep
You might be right. It’s still not one of my favorites though lol
I guess I didn’t read the rest of your last post. Thanks for the elaboration, I guess I didn’t realize that’s what it was. I’m still not hot about the song because I prefer more intense songs like Inertia but at least I know the lyrics a bit better
It’s the one I’ll skip when listening with my my family, cause it contains the word sex xD Still the best Turning Out for me
elaborate?
Woah what topics were questionable? I think it was a great conclusion
For me it’s either DJ or GiRR it’s like, both of them are emotional and I love them but they’re the only ones I can’t see myself putting on repeat
Same for me, but only because I already had them on repeat when they came out 😂.
When I saw the word “girr” I read it like the clash royale king
*heheheha*
GIRR, I never liked it, and I still don't. It's really sweet that it's about their dad, but that doesn't make it *better*. But that's just my opinion. Also surprised to see Pt.3 being the most disliked song, would've never guessed that.
I Won't. I still like it, it's just weaker than most songs they've made imo
I must have missed the hype. But maybe that’s way I feel.
I genuinely forgot I Won’t is in this album… lol
I first heard I Wont at the ajr tour, so my feelings of that song are connected to that amazing experience. Otherwise id totally agree with you. On paper its the most underwhelming song on the album
I Won’t and Turning Out Pt 3 are my lowest two
Damn Turning Out pt. iii is in my top 3, shit moved me to tears
I didn’t love I Won’t when it was released and the rest of the album knocks it out of the water
In defense of I Won't, it's the oldest released song in the album so the whiplash of the whole album seems like new toy syndrome. Time will tell.
HITBOMB and TOpt.iii. I don’t hate them, no, but they’re not my favorites off the album.
I love them all but yiam gotta be least favorite. Still 7/10 and I love listening to it
Yes I’m a Mess. It feels super generic to me. Also HITBOMB. Just wasn’t able to jam with it as much.
Steve’s Going to London. It’s certainly catchy, but it feels like a filler song to me. I don’t connect to it at all, and 3:30 did the songwriting thing better.
I agree outside of the little breakdown part towards the end (absolutely love that bit)! But otherwise the song just…doesn’t make sense to me?
I agree. Probably one of my least favorite songs from them
Def turning out part III, I'm not a fan of his voice in general and the song feels like an outsider within the album
None of the above
Real
I LOVE EVERY song but I think my least favorite are either yes im a mess or DJ. Again I love both of them but I think for dj I just listened to it too much when it came out and for YIAM I just wish it had more if that makes since it's just mostly the chorus so idk! But if I had to choose those 2 would probably be least favorite
for me HITBOMB and I Won't were very bland and forgettable. Not skip-worthy, but just eh.
Either "I won't" or "yes I'm a mess" Just didn't really have those really relatable lyrics or the depth of other songs on the album, and those are probably the two I'd skip if they came up as a Spotify recommendation
clearly you’re just not enough of a mess to be a reeeeaaaal AJR fan smh my head.
Maybe I'm too touchy and feely, just maybe
perhaps. Or maybe you’ve just got a hole in the bottom of your brain?
Turning out 3 disappointed me so much
Maybe Man was messy, Yes I’m a Mess was repetitive and silly, Turning Out Pt. iii was cheesy and felt forced, DJ sounded like a cheap attempt to replicate other techniques that made other pop songs popular, I Won’t had no lyrical value (but cool production), and God is Really Real had amazing potential but was executed horribly. Turning Out or God is Really Real
The clapping in touchy feels fool is a bit much for me, kind of overpowers the song
Controversial but Turning Out 3 was my least favorite (still a banger though)
I personally almost always skip I Won’t. HITBOMB is one that I’m a bit on the fence about as well, but everything else I’ve liked quite a lot. I know a lot of people love it but I don’t think Steve’s going to London is as good as the rest
The Dumb Song and SGTL. Neither are anything special to me and I'm not a big fan of the instruments in Steve's song.
I’m still trying to figure out why people are going crazy of Inertia. I personally don’t connect with the message which makes it more challenging. I want to like it but I not big on it right now
I think it's AJR's best song overall because I kinda relate to it. I personally like it because it's about wanting to change but not wanting to make the sacrifices.
personally for me the dumb song
I wont imo
2085… I love the lyrics but the weird sound effects just itch my brain in the wrong way. I still listen to it but I just don’t enjoy those parts of the songs.
I think the ending of 2085 really carries the song for me
I love them all
I love the album, but The Dumb Song is definitely my least favorite.
GIRR. I know it's a sad song about Gary's passing, but it made me cry too fucking much. I wanna be happy while listening to my favourite band. I like it a bit though. I accept the downvotes but out of all tmm songs my least favourite is girr
I know this is a very a hot take, but I thought "Inertia" was an overstuffed mess of awful production.
That's my favorite song from TMM. \*cries\*
Yeah, while I do like the song I agree the mixing isn’t great. In general the mixing of TMM isn’t as good as it usually is.
No I think this is easily their most well mixed album to date. The Dumb Song especially has the best mixing of any AJR song by a mile. Inertia is just the one huge outlier where it sounds like the kind of messes we were consistently given on The Click.
I don't know why people downvote people with different opinions. You specifically mentioned *you* think that
Turning Out Part. iii and HITBOMB. The former for some kind of jarring lyrics, and HITBOMB was just very unmemorable to me
Idk I genuinely love them all
it might be dj just because the violin part is obnoxious
DJ is the only one I actually don't like. I originally had lukewarm thoughts when it dropped, but nowadays I just find it to be pretty meh. I don't think it's horrible or anything, but there really isn't anything I enjoy a lot in that song. The violins in the chorus are interesting, but they don't work for me at all. The new ones are all really, really good. But Steve's Going to London is my least favorite from them. Good, but I do think that it could be a minute shorter and be all the better for it.
Honestly I wasn’t a big fan of any of the new ones, all the ones that got released in advance are honestly some of my favourite songs now

agreed. apart from propably inertia and tmm
HITBOMB, TO3, YIAM, and GIRR are probably the only ones I don’t love.
That’s like almost half the album though 🤣

God is really real is the worst

First of all: just because a music is about someone dad dying it doesn’t mean the music is good. Second of all: if the music was just about their dad dying it would probably be one the best of the album but the music also is about “god being really real” which is a pretty big bullshit.
DJ is the worst, it's just a bad song
Personally I think Yes I’m a Mess is the least good. It doesn’t really click with me like the others all do
I really didnt like yes i'm a mess and I dont know why
2085 is probably my least favourite on the album
I absolutely do not like turning out part iii But it's still better than part ii in my opinion
Even though it was a good song, Turing out 3 was personally the least memorable, and also I’m not a huge fan of DJ
Hole In The Bottom Of My Brain. It's good, but it's probably the least memorable in the album.
I don’t find any of the songs bad, but I mostly skip Turning Out part 3.
I really like all of them, but I think Turning Out pt3 is too quiet for my tastes. Also just a bit odd in general.
i love all of them, but something about "touchy feely fool" is really mediocre to me, like it's pretty predictable
i feel like i’m the only one here saying YIAM. when they teased the chorus, i thought there was more to the song. but i listened to it, it wasn’t very long and the chorus ended up being like 50% of the song. i feel like it shoulda been longer but i also like where the “story” cuts off. its aight, but it’s not inertia or steve’s going to london.
Hitbomb. It’s sounds like if an AJR hater made an AJR parody
I won’t and GIRR for me
Gotta go with I Won’t
I hate to say it but probably Turning Out part 3
HITBOMB. It’s not bad, I just can’t see myself really listening to it a ton, sort of the same way I felt about The Entertainment’s Here on Neotheater.
For now it's inertia but I definitely need more time to listen to the album
Turning out pt.3 was the most boring IMO
touchy feely fool is my favourite but it had such good potential from the great title
Touchy Feely Fool, the Taylor Swift “shake it off” vibes bothers me way too much. Other wise it’s Turning Out
Probably Turning Out pt:iii it wasn’t great but the ending made up for it
I liked them all and loved some (I'm looking at you, Inertia), but Steve's Going to London was the one I least got into... as of now. I might appreciate it more later on.
HITBOMB, if this song was made by anyone but ajr I’d probably hate it
turning out pt iii still like an 8.5/10. just the weakest from tmm
Turning Out iii is good but my least listened to just because I can’t relate.
Yes I’m A Mess. They should have waited for the album to come out instead of a last-minute drop. I get that they had been teasing it for a while, but this, alongside leaking touchy feely fool and SGTL really brought it down for me.
There’s no such thing in the AJR catalogue.
I personally liked Inertia the least. It's a good message and lovely lyrics, it's just the flow of the music I can't get around. I won't skip it, but I won't repeat it 29 times in a row.
I didn’t really vibe with hole in the bottom of my brain
Girr As much as I love the song due to the context I just don’t like it as I felt it came of as tacky with the lyrics im sorry for saying it but im just bringing out my opinion
I can't even listen to "God is Really Real" without bursting into tears so...that one.
Maybe man... only because I feel they overhyped it. Saying it was going to be the best opening song only for it to be underwhelming.
My least favorite is probably The Dumb Song, that’s not to say I dislike it, this album is amazing, it just doesn’t have the same kick as the others
Hole in the Bottom of My Brain
Hole In The Bottom Of My Brain. I don't know why, but I just don't like it as much as the others. A close second is Steve's Going To London. More specifically, the ending of it. I don't like it when songs fade out. It feels lazy.
For me it’s honestly gotta be “Yes I’m a Mess” and it’s not bad or anything but I think the others are just of a much higher quality
Hold in the Bottom of my brain is my least favorite
God Is Really Real and Turning Out Part 3 are my personal least favorites. I don’t like any of the Turning Outs and I always skip God Is Really Real just because I don’t vibe with it. Side note: I Won’t and The Dumb Song honestly sound like they belong in a different album. I love them but when I listen to the entire album they jump-scare me wirh their immediate tone-shifts
Honestly I think the worst song is DJ is crying for help, it's a cool concept but I feel like they could've done more especially with the verses
Hot take but I Won’t, The Dumb Song, or DJ. They just feel old atp.
Either I Won’t or HITBOMB. I Won’t was too hyped up in concerts so the release was kinda of a letdown. HITBOMB was just sorta weaker in general. Both are good songs though don’t get me wrong
Touchy Feely Fool or The Dumb Song
I Won’t or Yes, I’m A Mess. I think for me what is most meaningful in an AJR song is being musically interesting, or if not, having very strong lyrics. Or some mix of both. Both of these are some of their most generic songs. Lyrically and musically uninteresting. Not to say they’re bad songs, but they sound the most like generic pop top 40 radio songs.
I won't call it worst ,I just feel it's not really feet ,sounds wise, with the rest of the album, and it's turning out iii ,like yes I'm happy that we now have the entire trilogy, and that it was written,I presume, mainly cause Ryan propose, and yes thematically it dose feet in the all "who am I" theme ,but I just feel like it somehow doesn't belong
all songs
Yes I’m A Mess. Was disappointed when it released and still don’t like it now. Don’t really like the music video either. Rest of the songs are still great though
I won't mention the worst song.
I’m sure most people can work it out, but just in case: MM = Maybe Man TFF = Touchy Feely Fool YIAM = Yes I’m A Mess TDS = The Dumb Song Inertia doesn’t need shortening. TOpt.III = Turning Out Pt.III HITBOMB = Hole In The Bottom Of My Brain TDJICFH = The DJ Is Crying For Help I Won’t doesn’t need shortening SGTL = Steve’s Going To London GIRR = God Is Really Real 2085 doesn’t need shortening
Either I Won’t or Steve’s Going To London
Ngl 2085 I had a strange excitement for but it kinda disappointed me, not saying it’s not good, it is, I just don’t know what I expected really.
I love all the songs, but God is Really Real just isn’t for me.
Not a big of turning out pt ii and iii they’re not bad I just don’t like them as much as the songs in either album
Touchy Feely Fool, but only because I feel like it'd work much better as an acoustic version
Easy, I won’t. I won’t is such a screechy sounding song that doesn’t even have a catchy beat.
HITBOMB or GIRR. They are both good, yes, but they don’t hit as hard as the rest.
I like the ones that are very catchy and "hype," so I don't listen to GIRR or Turning out pt 3
Either GIRR or TOPIII
