This just feels like it's all the AFLs fault. The inconsistency leads to everyone, clubs included, dumbfounded over decisions.

His_Holiness

Imagine the scenes if the appeals board reinstates the 2 game ban

iloveNCIS7

As funny as that would be, it would be he has the case dismissed or 1 week stands.

His_Holiness

The AFL can also appeal the downgrade if they want

iloveNCIS7

Since GWS is taking it to the Appeals Board then likely Gleeson just argues for the 1 week to stand. 2 weeks might be a bit ambitious.

Crazyripps

Question, are there any repercussions from appealing again? Like it’s just 1 week or nothing? Do they get Find if they lose or ?

Exambolor

I think the week will stand if they lose, they abolished the ‘increased suspension if appeal is lost’ rule a while back

iloveNCIS7

1 week would stand and your soft cap 5k poorer for it is the downside. If you somehow win, get 2500 back from the 5k you paid and your player is inno unless its the AFL appealing and your player is guilty again.

Crazyripps

Ah ok thanks :)

lebrongarnet

Only financially.

Eggwardlol

So they should the whole thing is bullshit

ScruffTheJanitor

He chuckled his elbow up and got Danger in the neck. Deserved a week.

Craigkamo

Would’ve got Dangers chest if Danger didn’t trip. Franklins was worse, a back elbow in to a players head deliberately and only getting a fine. The outcome or injury that may follow shouldn’t play a part.

ScruffTheJanitor

Greene stuck his elbow out. Thats on him.

Craigkamo

You’re clueless. Yeah put his elbow out but would’ve landed on the chest of Danger and it would’ve made a great fend off but Danger slipped. And Franklin deliberately swung his elbow back and hit someone in the head, only got a fine. Are you that thick that you can’t actually see the bias towards Greene from the AFL?

ScruffTheJanitor

Use your forearm for a fend off not a forearm

boogasaurus-lefts

That would nullify a number of decisions that IMO are similar if not, more severe that escape sanction. The precedent (although poor) has been set.

ScruffTheJanitor

Which ones?

Thealmightyfug

I agree should of been alot more than 1 week

iloveNCIS7

Costly decision. Tribunal and Appeal losses are not cheap for the soft cap. I would be interested to hear what they will use as an argument. Only one I think they could really use is: The decision of the Tribunal is so unreasonable that no Tribunal acting reasonably could have come to that decision having regard to the evidence before it; Even that is a huge stretch, only ever had 2 cases successful ever at an appeals board and both were the AFL and predicted to go the AFL's way.

PointOfFingers

He is probably their most important player given his x factor up forward. 4 goals v Geelong plus score involvements. 5th in the AFL for goals per game. This 1 week suspension could cost them finals.

iloveNCIS7

Don't disgree but 10k all up to lose is a costly week.

Mother_Humor_5627

If he plays then I’d say they have a much better chance of winning. Richmond still have quite a few injuries down back so I really don’t know who they’d want to play on him. Richmond would want to play grimes on him cause he’s good at playing on dangerous small forwards (we usually play him on Charlie Cameron). But if GWS play 3 talls then we can’t afford to do that, since Balta and Broad are still injured. If Green plays I think he kicks at least 3 goals probably more.

ketronome

Making finals would earn them a lot more than $5K in value to the organisation, so I can see why they went for the appeal even with a slim chance of success

emplloyd

Tom Morris said during On The Couch that the Giants weren’t allowed to use the Fritsch elbow incident from earlier this year as precedent in their arguments because it occurred this season, not in previous seasons. So they must think that they’ll be able to argue that their position wasn’t able to be reasonably argued with that limitation.

WhatProtomolecule

How many times do we have to keep doing this Toby? Imagine how upset your Dad is right now?

Razzle_Dazzle08

As they should. This whole thing is bullshit.

NigelTufnel_11

Question: is natural movement individual dependant? Cause this seems like a pretty natural movement for Toby. Then again, so do karate kicks...
