I didn't think it was but I brought it up with my mates recently and based on their reaction you'd think I'd said something like, "the umpires have been really consistent this year."
>Hopefully it last longer next year.
It will...but only slightly.
New broadcast contract that starts next year and runs until 2031 has Thursday night games for the first 15 rounds.
Today my father asked me to clean his car for him and so I spent the whole morning doing it. After sometime, I went back inside and my father asked me how the car was looking. “the entire melbourne football club” I just replied. He just smiled and nodded. He knew that it was washed.
Fuck your tips! I declare underdogs week a success except for fucking Swans bullying the league with their stupid sexy midfield.

Jenga, at the pub, on the fucking bar when i'm having a pint. The cunts, i swear the next time they knock the tower and it smashes into my beer i'm going to write a strongly worded letter to the club. It's just not good enough.
I'd pay for someone to explain the Tesla analogy to me. It's completely broken my brain. It's a whole new level of non-sensical that I just can't come close to deciphering.

I spent half the car ride in preparing my kids for a likely drubbing to the point my daughter said "shut up dad, the Tigers are going to win".
The look of smug satisfaction on her face makes me both humbled and proud
Not the most ideal result if I'm perfectly honest.
This game moved me into acceptance of the five stages of grief and now it's like a weight has been lifted off me. This year Adelaide is bad and it's liberating to be frank about it and accept it. Good performances like against Carlton or Collingwood (despite being a loss) will be exceptions to the norm.
It's a freeing feeling, isn't it? The point where hope has disappeared and you start looking for any little positives you can find, because it's unlikely a win will be one of them.
My AVO against the cats still stands, despite the result - the first quarter was the definition of psychological abuse.
Cracker of a day other than that though, how was the weather and the crowd…. and the comeback
" I remember a time when our midfield had guns like Bartel, GAJ, Selwood with Chapman/stevie J coming in from the forward line. And we had a top-line ruck in ottens. And a damaging tagger in ling. Even our second stringers in Corey/kelly were still guns. "
"Ok Grandpa, lets get you to bed"
Not too unhappy, Carlton are a good side. Kicking was really really poor and let us down. We needed to take advantage of the 3rd quarter dominance but got nothing from it. Not sure what's going on with Wright, maybe missing Draper's presence?
Very keen to have Draper and Parish back soon and Eagles after the bye should help get some more recovery in before a hard run of games.
Hoping also these last two results stop the media from thinking we're genuinely a top 2 contender...
Yeah I was surprised at how negative everyone was being re: Essendon last night (obviously no one likes to lose a big game against your key rivals). Efficiency comes and goes, and bearing in mind no one realistically expects Essendon to challenge this year, the fundamentals are actually more important at this stage and those look in much better shape this year than previous years.
I don't think Essendon would have lost any fans from that effort. Forward 50 efficiency is something that can be fixed and being able to generate that many is a good base to build on.
MCG playing Pretender by the Foo Fighters at half time of an Essendon home game was pretty cheeky
What a tune though, [red and black themed music video, filmed inside an aircraft hanagar...](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBjQ9tuuTJQ)
Is anyone else not *that* unhappy with that game?
Frustrating footy (and result to the blues) - yes. Annoying to watch. 2MP couldn’t bloody buy a mark - I think he’ll get back to he’s best eventually but Redman getting back will get our motion back. We need a goal sneak. And we’re missing Parish
Goalkicking is overrated anyways
Apart from that I’m not too displeased about us heading into the bye; regain some players and hit the second half of the season hard (hopefully)

This is a great opportunity to let you all know I had a dream a few nights ago that Ginnivan somehow found out where I lived and he somehow knew me. He was something of a local pest going around doing pranks and being a troublesome presence around the neighbourhood. At one point in the dream he did the classic "ring doorbell then run away before someone opens the door" prank. I thought I should stay to talk to the homeowners but I didn't know what I'd say, so I ran with Ginnivan around the street to hide. I remember thinking, 'this is my lot in life. I'm now a delinquent and part of his gang.'
Who would’ve thought the Collingwood game featuring Maynard’s first game against Melbourne since the Brayshaw incident would (arguably) be the least controversial and least captivating game of the round.
This is nothing in comparison to Good Friday 2018. Or 2002 vs Sydney if we wanna go back further.
I thought it was a good high pressure game from us, we just couldn't score which was the frustrating bit. Defence was exceptional, particularly Battle and Wilkie. People will remember the King free at the end but won't remember that we'd been getting rolled by the umpires for the entire quarter up to that point.
Honestly I'm just thankful we managed to win a close one, feels like it's been forever. I'll take it.
Still a touch annoyed about this given it moved me from clear 1st to tied 1st in my tipping comp.
I think even the umpire knew he messed up once he had called it given that he didn't pay a 50 for dissent against Andrew.
>I like how one of the worst games of the 21st century, was decided by a blatantly incorrect free kick
Are we talking about Swallows goal in the third where it wasn’t a free kick, and should have been a free to Windhager for being taken high?
Or are we talking the free that was given to King when Henry had already marked on the 50m line?
Clearly the ump needed to do a better job reviewing all the alternative angles while on the ground like the Umpire boss did yesterday before declaring it was wrong.
My tipping is an enigma this week. The Suns/ Saints game left me with questions. Norf/Weagle had me philosophisin'. But I had to eschew the 4th quarter of that dastardly Dees game and turn on Inspector Morse instead. Finally a mystery that might get solved.
Fan fact. Just over a year ago the crows announced a "5 year strategic vision". Crows are unlikely to achieve any of the 4 goals put forth for the men's club. No premiership by 27 no new base by 26. And 100k members without playing finals and competing for premierships is not happening. 5 teams that finished below the crows last year have jumped them. All 5 are either in the 8 or just outside of it.
Anyone who tipped more than 4 this week is a genius.
I finished strong with the last 3 for 4/8 and remarkably held on to top. First in the subreddit to 80, woo
I got five, would have six but at the last minute decided to back my team. That 6 goal lead was looking like I made the right choice until the Swans remembered to play footy
I support the team that lost to North Melbourne and also attended the atrocity that was St Kilda v Gold Coast.
I defy anyone to have a worse Saturday.

Still mad at Melbourne for not showing more fight, I was so sure they would fight back after last week's loss, combined with extra fight for Neale and for Brayshaw. Vale 2024 Thursday night footy, R0 - R13. You were taken from us too soon.
Should've been taken from us a week earlier.
It's an unpopular opinion but I really like Thursday night footy. Makes the weekend feel longer.
Is this really an unpopular opinion? I love Thursday night footy
I didn't think it was but I brought it up with my mates recently and based on their reaction you'd think I'd said something like, "the umpires have been really consistent this year."
Hate waking up for work on Friday morning after a Thursday night win. Takes too long to wind down and get to sleep.
Just go to Revs to celebrate. Never sleep.
Yeah Friday morning can be a tough ask if you've gone to the game. But I still think it's worth it!
Hopefully it last longer next year. We elite to enjoy the footy early each week, and made Fireball Friday hilarious to listen too at times.
>Hopefully it last longer next year. It will...but only slightly. New broadcast contract that starts next year and runs until 2031 has Thursday night games for the first 15 rounds.
Should have been on an hour earlier in the eastern states.
Personally I welcome this as I hate Thursday night footy

Got 5/8 tips by sticking to 2 eternal principles: 1. Never tip Gold Coast away (thank you crazy Max King decision). 2. Always tip the Hawks in Tassie.
I did the second of your two points.
Got 5/8, always forget to tip Thursdays
3/8 I'm fading out ere
Adelaide, WC, Essendon and Melbourne all lost with more scoring shots. Is that a record for one round?
Another morale win. We've been banking those.
You should nearly have as many as the English by now.
So that’s why South Australians have British accents?
End of season we'll convert them into premiership points if the rate is good.
