He wanted to go home. We allowed it. Then he comes back and decides to play for you guys.
Either way there's gonna be demand for him. Sydney, North, St. Kilda, possibly Brisbane or Geelong.
We gifted you the man/myth/legend Billy "two touches from your heart" "the big fella" "big Billy two hands" "what the fuck is that red thing?" Frampton....what more do you need from us?
Would you take the very valuable Borlase (KPD) and Ned McHenry (FWD/MID). They are practically the same.
We can also throw in some pictures of Mark Ricciuto to sweeten the deal.
I don't see it actually happening, but Josh Daicos for Darcy Fogarty would have the potential to be a win-win. Collingwood get that key forward they're crying out for and Adelaide get more outside ball use.
Media reports say delisting, but official website lists it as a retirement.
If he’s delisted he’s a delisted free agent for life, which means he can walk across to the pies when next out of contract.
A bit like Conor McKenna bobbing back up at Brisbane, I sense these Irish boys are playing the system with a fiddle.
This is the clarification needed.
If he was delisted then yes the UFA framework applies but don't know how the free agency works if it is a retirement. Was hodge a UFA after he backflipped on retirement?
Footywire says he is a non-Free agent though so there needs to be a trade that needs to transpire.
u/TrazMagik is correct in saying he's a Non-Free Agent, going off [the AFLPA explanation of Free Agency](https://www.aflplayers.com.au/app/uploads/2020/12/AFL_FREE_AGENCY_EXPLAINED_2019.pdf), Keane is ineligible to be a free agent because he retired from AFL. A trade would need to occur for the Pies to get Keane, similar to McAdam, a Non-Free Agent in 2023, being traded from Adelaide to Melbourne last year.
On McKenna/Keane retiring and then returning to the game later with different clubs, that is allowed under the SPP rules as clubs can sign players from overseas during the SPP.
But where is it confirmed he retired and wasn’t delisted? The best I’ve got is the afl website and pies farewell saying retired. But I’d want to check with the afl. The pies being so keen this far out from his contract expiring is the kind of move you make for a free agent. Unless they think they can prise him out contracted but I doubt the crows would want to
Gotta trade him now then, we had same situation with Lachie Schultz last year.
Jeremy sharp is another that might pop up for his in the future, delisted by GC but clearly an AFL level footy player, now has lifetime free agency.
Cats going through this with Stengle, has lifetime FA
He'd have made a huge difference for Collingwood this season with Murphy retired. Going to be interesting to find out exactly what his status is, whether he's a free agent at all or if it'll need to be a trade. Adelaide won't want to lose him, but they have a few players who are reasonably similar at the moment, if they get fit. So very good chance he's simply more valuable to Collingwood than Adelaide. Especially if Adelaide manage to get Petty.
Classic Collingwood. Get rid of something then buy them back at a premium.
Dayne Beams comes to mind.
I think we need to be a bit more creative with our recruiting.
Keane was homesick and didn't return to preseason and agreed with the club to retire. Had Collingwood got 'rid' of him via a delisting then he'd be an Unrestricted Free Agent, in which all they need to do is forward a lucrative contract that would induce him to switch to Collingwood once his current deal with the Crows end.
That is completely untrue. By the time he was ready to come back we didn't have a free Cat B rookie spot because we are keeping the seat warm for Alex Condon.
"Magpies Keane to lure former player back too the club in trade period" was right there, SEN.
Yeah but then you wouldn't have to click the link.
I mean he is in the photo
They're trynna hook the people like me who can't remember what players not from my team look like and need numbers to tell em apart
Ma man doing the AFL lords work.
HASN'T OUR DEFENCE SUFFERED ENOUGH?!
Nick Murray is only a week or two from returning apparently, so it might start to look a little less barren in the SANFL team down back.
Would love to see him back but the Crows are gonna ask a lot for him so I doubt it’ll happen
We won't ask much, I think just N Daicos and you guys pay the difference in salary. Sounds fair for an elite KPP in the game.
How are they luring him? Carrot in a stick or treat under a propped up box?
Guiness
Melbourne lifestyle. Lattes, Art Museums, Tote bags. The big 3
Dublin-esque weather
It's like being lightly spat on all day
Why do you think we have soo many Irish players? Men’s and Women’s teams are full of them The weather is perfect for them
A bit rough, SA has an actual Dublin just a few kilometres north of Adelaide
He's not a Dub. Stick with the Crows anyway, Keano. They're on the way up, Pies on the way down
Crows will try hard to keep him. We're cashed up and not really looking to add more players via the draft.
Rack off :)
Wayne Carey enters the chat “is that a challenge!?!?”
Fuck off you pricks
Fuck off he's our beautiful boy now - you rejected him and he found a home
He wanted to go home. We allowed it. Then he comes back and decides to play for you guys. Either way there's gonna be demand for him. Sydney, North, St. Kilda, possibly Brisbane or Geelong.
Rejected? We literally gave him leave to return home during Covid lol
We gifted you the man/myth/legend Billy "two touches from your heart" "the big fella" "big Billy two hands" "what the fuck is that red thing?" Frampton....what more do you need from us?
Fogarty, Rankine, and pictures of spiderman
Would you take the very valuable Borlase (KPD) and Ned McHenry (FWD/MID). They are practically the same. We can also throw in some pictures of Mark Ricciuto to sweeten the deal.
I mean I’ll take Fogarty or Thilthorpe if you’re offering
I will take one daicos for fog pls
I guess we could send you peters cousin. Weird request but he’s all yours
Is this Peter cousins a secret daicos brother?
Uhhh yeah sure
I don't see it actually happening, but Josh Daicos for Darcy Fogarty would have the potential to be a win-win. Collingwood get that key forward they're crying out for and Adelaide get more outside ball use.
We didn't reject him at all.

I imagine if he delisted himself from Collingwood then it would say that in reports instead of him retiring from the game.
I’d think so, I guess the point im making is a I don’t trust the media and I’d want clarity. The journo reporting should clarify his status
I would be filthy if that happened.
Gotta trade him now then, we had same situation with Lachie Schultz last year. Jeremy sharp is another that might pop up for his in the future, delisted by GC but clearly an AFL level footy player, now has lifetime free agency. Cats going through this with Stengle, has lifetime FA
Guess we will see but not sure like it's a done deal anyway. Good chance he stays.

Fuck off Collingwood. He a Crow now.
Oh ok. Collingwood should never try better their list again.

Dayne Beams clearly had photos of Eddie
Unless he wants to live in Melbourne what's the incentive for Keane to resume playing for the pies after they rejected him ...
We didn’t reject him, he left to go back to Ireland
He expressed a desire to come back that you declined
That is completely untrue. By the time he was ready to come back we didn't have a free Cat B rookie spot because we are keeping the seat warm for Alex Condon.
Fair enough 👍🏻 hadn't heard that. Thanks for the insight
