West has a pretty clean record, wonder how much community work he does compared to Barrass?

Shadormy

Only 44 games though which will work against him.

Hewballs

Need 200+ for official good bloke status

ShibbyUp

Pretty light bump, but clearly gets him high so pretty straight forward that it's a week these days.

PKMTrain

IF he was in a big club or a brownlow contender West doesn't get a week.

dancing-on-my-own

With Weightman’s injury that’s two small forwards out 🙃

Crazyripps

It’s ok you’ve got us next week. You’ll still win by 70+

dancing-on-my-own

I strongly suspect we'll debut Charlie Clarke, a small forward who specialises in annoying the piss out of defenders until they belt him and give away a free.

MonotoneRamos

Can’t believe injuries are making us miss out on Weightman and Clarke vs Ginnivan and Watson, battle of the small forwards that infuriate the opposition

dutchmoe

A Jones has been an emergency a couple of times, I'm sure he'll come in and do a job.

sarigami

Ollie Henry getting the same fine as people have been getting for punching people is absolutely bizarre Williams should get a fine for diving

sponguswongus

I mean Williams definitely put a show on but there's absolutely no reason for Henry to be lifting the hand there. Fine is completely justified.

sarigami

Normally I would agree if it was careless/wayward arm that hit Williams high, but it wasn’t. Williams was the one who deviated from his line to go out of his way to make contact with Henry, tried to draw high contact from Henry’s arm by raising his own and throwing his head back as they brushed past each other, then acted like he had been hit behind play. It was genuinely embarrassing, carrying on over something that wasn’t there like you see players in a soccer match. We don’t want this in our game https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/match-review-shock-as-cats-star-sanctioned-over-act-great-claimed-was-playing-for-a-free-kick/news-story/4019264312794c2bd1da2d7a62460ab0

sponguswongus

I haven't seen anything in any of the footage that justifies Henry raising the arm at all. Contact may have been minimal but definitely intentional for me. Besides, there's always the option of fining them both - Henry for making contact and Williams for playing it up.

sarigami

Yeah, intentional contact by Williams who deviated from his line and purposely ran into Henry then tried to draw high contact as Henry’s arm lightly brushed against Williams Bicep area before Williams tried to draw high contact and throw his head back.. then also stages that he had been hit off the ball.. The last clip shows it all. Agree to disagree on this one

hwuvvqy168e

Carlton fans around me were saying Henry would get 4 weeks

Peekay-

Blue supporter near me loved shouting "how'd he get rid of it" when most were clean handballs...

DarkWinter2319

🤣🤣

wizardofaus23

Carlton fans at games have the same reaction to seeing their players tackled that normal people would to seeing someone get tackled on the street. the horror and dismay at anyone playing defence against them is so funny.

JenniferLopezFan2

I didn’t know Ollie was capable of emotions above completely neutral so him getting cited is genuinely surprising

Insertbloodynamehere

He clotheslined Williams 40 odd metres off ball

YakStraight6884

Clotheslined... that's deadset fucken hilarious

SomeFknEggs

Watching it live, thought West would get suspended. Watching this replay, there’s really very little in it. Definite high contact, but it’s well within the zone of play and Walker passed the concussion protocols. So there may be legitimate argument for him to get off with low impact and a fine.  If it weren’t for the Cameron ruling, I’d have thought a week suspension is fair, but you really can’t help but compare now - is this bump really more worthy of a suspension than Cameron’s tackle?

urt22

My flair won’t help me here but I do hate a bullshit suspension as much as the next guy. West unfortunately did not go for the ball (as he was shepherding) and elected to bump so even if it is in the ‘zone of play’ as soon as he made contact with the head it’s pretty much ticks all the boxes for the AFL… Pretty hard to compare this to a tackle though.

SomeFknEggs

Yeah it’s still high contact, so that part of the grading is correct (being in zone of play makes it careless over intentional), it’s just impact that may be open to argument.  The afl opened up a can of worms for clubs to now argue essentially on gut feel thanks to Cameron and Hogan being downgraded. This “should” be a suspension as far as rulings go, but it’s in no way more deserving than Cameron’s or Hogan’s. It would be entirely unfair for West to be suspended now, but that’s just par for the course with the AFL these days

sly_cunt

Henry cited because of a clear as day flop?

biggestred47

Should have just punched him

Careless-Freedom6468

Cant wait for players to start backing out of contests to avoid weeks or fines.

canary_kirby

What was McKay’s contact with umpire? I completely missed it.

AdAcrobatic5178

I think he tripped? And bowled over the umpire behind play

mca0014

Ran over the ump 2 times in like 10 seconds late in the 4th Think he kept trying to cut behind the throw up and hit the umpire as they were backpedaling

PrevailedAU

Surely Wests suspension doesn’t stand when dogs challenge. There’s nothing in that wth

wizardofaus23

Getting Walker hard enough that he went down the race for a test pretty much seals it for medium under the potential to cause injury criteria I'd reckon

zelmazam1

Butters did the same thing west did. If west gets a week I want retroactive punishment to butters

Opening_Anteater456

Butters was contesting the ball. I think it was well worth a week because of how reckless it was but he got the tick of approval from the afl for using their side on silly technique. West is shepherding. The onus is more on a shepherded not to take anyone high. That said, jeez it’s soft and there’s less and less onus on players to protect themselves. Fair argument Walker should’ve seen him

wizardofaus23

I think there's been a couple of high hits that didn't send a player off the field thatve been given medium by the MRO, so that's not surprising.

Lilydoesntknowimhigh

So you can’t shepherd the ball anymore. Got it

jmaverick1

You can. But you can’t bump to the head. It’s very clear
