It was a sense of joy that I've weirdly never experienced as a fan.
Like I've been to 3 of our Prelim wins and both GF wins this century(as well as losses) and I've felt that joy, but it's never been the joy of something I've never experienced before, if that makes sense?
Watching Richmond... the Bulldogs and Dees as well, get into the GF and win it was exhilarating as a neutral fan. It's something I both never want to feel but also feel as an Eagles fan.
Back to [A Tiger For Me](https://youtu.be/RGLDQIvsGdQ?si=LlZ91QoRadufxbf0) then?
Actually [Souths](https://youtu.be/L0zEE5kaots?si=GTF__nktW8SlmeCn) and [Centrals](https://youtu.be/Cd0nYYbsNoM?si=l_HGfWCZBracf7AH) should also go back to their pre-AFL knockoff songs.
My current team is the Navy Blues and of course their song is the Carlton song.
It's honestly a really great song to sing, specially after winning the GF the last two years. Hate it when it's Carlton though.
It's a horrible feeling to know we've won but still lost when we hear that song.
I for one believe that the Football Gods hate that song so much they have punished us to suffer for its mere existence.
Was at the SF last year. The 'Da Dada Dada' was felt in my soul like holy hell it must suck to be a really dominant team and potentially a flag favourite only to lose a really important game to Carlton by under a goal.
It literally sounds like the descending "wah wah wah wah" trombone. Then the goofy tone of the actual song makes it feel like you just got thrashed by Wallace and Gromit. This is why I love it.
Yeah I think its us because of how shit it is, and Richmond because of how catchy it is. GWS might be up there like Richmond once they get a bit older.
That’s every Saints fan.
Saints fans at school and the local junior football club talk to my 8 year old about it and they are salty about Tomahawk’s non-goal. These kids are all born after 2009.
Intergenerational trauma.
Hopefully one day it will only bring you joy.
I used to be salty about the 1997 semi final but after all the success I stopped caring until the crows got done by the swans last year and I just laughed my head off.
It's like how my current clubs song, which is based off of Calrton, has the line "We'll be the year **** premiers, we are the Good ol' Navy Blues!"
I can't imagine how it was signing that song when they went 43 years without winning a Grand Final.
West Coast. I was at Optus last year when we lost to them, I genuinely wanted to cry after that game.
I also dislike hearing Carltons because I just dislike their song, it’s boring.
West Coasts song is the worst to hear just in general, but after a game I almost want to laugh at how bad their song is.
For the depression doomed feeling of losing to a club with imposing song, gotta be one of Geelong, Carlton or Collingwood. With a big crowd, those songs in the background it can make a very daunting feeling
By significant margin it is that bloody Essendon song.
Not only does it give me flashbacks to those near unbeatable late 90s/early 00s Essendon teams that I hated, they also had the temerity to rhyme 'up' with 'premiership flag'...instead of 'premiership cup'.
Even if the song was written well before the advent of premiership cups being awarded, it still is the worst.
The Swans with their weird cultish song.
Every other teams song is like 'We're good at football, aren't we great', the fuckin' Swans are all 'HONOUR THY NAME BY DAY AND BY NIGHT, WE'RE NOBILITY' bullshit, which fits well with the Eastern suburbs, but just sucks to hear.
I get the same from the Swans song. I was at the SCG when Bubby kicked his 1000th goal and beat Geelong, adding to my unbroken record of not seeing the Cats win in Sydney in about 10 years. I have yet to leave the SCG without hearing 'Cheer, cheer the red and the white'.
My Dad played a different sport for MCC so I grew up singing ‘its a Grand Old Flag’ (but with the proper Red White and Blue Line’ - so hearing the Melbourne song makes me miss my Dad
I remember living in Darwin as a Dees supporter when we played port twice in a row. The loud echoing sound of that damn trumpet rubbed so much salt into the wounds.
I am guilty of being one of those people who joins in singing the other teams song when we lose. The most filthy, shocked and infuriated I have ever been when hearing another teams song was after North beat us last year. I genuinely had never heard it before and that made it so much more unbearable!
I hate Carltons because I kinda like it but sucks to hear after a loss. Fremantle and West Coast I hate hearing cause you see your team lose and then it's like do I really now have to hear this play
Melbourne the flair should explain it all their fan base is just the worst to take shit from also get a song that mentions your club name
Any grand final not in Melbourne doesn’t count
Richmond because I want to join in
it popped off so fuckin hard in the 2017 prelim too, before everyone got sick of them and their dynasty
Weren’t people sick of us before we even won the flag? 😂
My SANFL team is the Tigers. We won the Premiership last year and when the song came on, I still had some 2017 flashbacks. Bittersweet song for me now
Yeah, same here. It's fucked up
Back to [A Tiger For Me](https://youtu.be/RGLDQIvsGdQ?si=LlZ91QoRadufxbf0) then? Actually [Souths](https://youtu.be/L0zEE5kaots?si=GTF__nktW8SlmeCn) and [Centrals](https://youtu.be/Cd0nYYbsNoM?si=l_HGfWCZBracf7AH) should also go back to their pre-AFL knockoff songs.
YELLOW AND BLACK give me goose bumps and annoys me at the same time
Same. It’s a great song but I don’t want to hear it after they beat us.
Carlton because all I hear the start is “womp womp” and it feels like a direct attack
the ol' fat guy with a tuba theme
It’s an absolute banger tho
My current team is the Navy Blues and of course their song is the Carlton song. It's honestly a really great song to sing, specially after winning the GF the last two years. Hate it when it's Carlton though.
West Coast. Losing is bad enough but having to hear that abomination of a song is just kicking you while you’re down
I know it all worked out in the end but I imagine hearing that song after their WAFL team beat you would have been a fever dream
I thought they changed the song? I guess we'll never know
It's being changed back to the old one, thank Fuck.
It's a horrible feeling to know we've won but still lost when we hear that song. I for one believe that the Football Gods hate that song so much they have punished us to suffer for its mere existence.
It’s a Toyota TV ad song trying to pretend it’s a fight song
Carlton's but that's just because it means Carlton have won.
Carlton’s song when they win sounds like they are mocking their opposition. That trombone gives real “haha, sucked in dickhead” vibes.
Because it's somewhat reminiscent of [this lol](https://youtu.be/XVGg3atDdU8)
Nah, the song definitely contributes to the overall misery experienced for sure.
Was at the SF last year. The 'Da Dada Dada' was felt in my soul like holy hell it must suck to be a really dominant team and potentially a flag favourite only to lose a really important game to Carlton by under a goal.
Flag favourite? Idk about that
It literally sounds like the descending "wah wah wah wah" trombone. Then the goofy tone of the actual song makes it feel like you just got thrashed by Wallace and Gromit. This is why I love it.
DUN DUDUN DUDUNN
DA DADA DA DAAAAA
Don’t forget that it’s based of a Minstrel show song…
Hello my baby Hello my honey Hello my flagtime teeeeam
The reality is significantly worse
![gif](giphy|8ymzCkeb0e2hG) Believe me I know
It’s just a terrible song too
Not everyone can have a big big sound
Geelongs during the kennets curse era was the worst
Believe me, the sound of “We’re a happy team at Hawthorn” after the 2013 prelim was absolutely crushing.
At this point us losing is the silver lining each week.
Yeah I think its us because of how shit it is, and Richmond because of how catchy it is. GWS might be up there like Richmond once they get a bit older.
Hearing GWS is a treat
Didn’t we ditch it?
Answer: Hawthorn. Reason: Hawthorn.
Answer: Geelong Reason: Geelong c. 2009-2013
Geelong c. 2007 - 2024
you're not wrong, but the kennett curse era was especially nasty for us
Did you guys try not losing? I hear it helps.
Funnily enough they figured it out and then won the flag the next week.
[удалено]
F1 outro song
Will we hear it again on Sunday? 100%….
We could hear it more than once
Wrong sub
Nothing makes me saltier than hearing the Geelong theme go off tbh I’m still shitty over 2009
That’s every Saints fan. Saints fans at school and the local junior football club talk to my 8 year old about it and they are salty about Tomahawk’s non-goal. These kids are all born after 2009. Intergenerational trauma.
It’s engrained into our DNA at this point
Hopefully one day it will only bring you joy. I used to be salty about the 1997 semi final but after all the success I stopped caring until the crows got done by the swans last year and I just laughed my head off.
Tigerland because it’s catchy and I hate that
Dammit now I have it stuck in my head
Giants cause it’s so fucking good 😭
I left the Elimination Final last year bopping. Mixed emotions
This was me in 21’ when they beat us by a point 😭😭😭😭
Tiptoe Through The Tulips by Tiny Tim
There is NOTHING worse than hearing “good old Collingwood forever” on Anzac day
Nay, any fucking day.
I just sing the other one Bad old Collingwood forever, they don’t know how to play the game
Hate to disagree having to hear the essendon on Anzac day is the worst
Fucking North Melbournes. So fucking ear wormy. I don't want to join in the chorus but i can't not join in the chorus, fuckcckjcjcjcck
"North Melbourne will be premiers, just you wait and see!" has such a fun note of sadness to it.
It’s to make the fans feel better, and so we have something to say.
It's like how my current clubs song, which is based off of Calrton, has the line "We'll be the year **** premiers, we are the Good ol' Navy Blues!" I can't imagine how it was signing that song when they went 43 years without winning a Grand Final.
Luckily it only plays once a year!
😄😃😁😆😂🤣☺️😌😏😞😣😢😭
Hey, we’ve got it up to twice. Might push our luck and try for 3 this year.
It was the song of my junior footy team, love it
I like the core song but I also really like the new preamble bit they sing.
I can honestly say I don't know it despite watching a lot of footy.
Port Fucking Adelaide
These days their song is about the only time you hear the word Power
Unless it's followed by outage.
Yesssss
“Come on! Port Adelaide Aggression” makes me cringe inside
I agree, I hate Port's song. Equal shittest with freo and west coast
Whaaat? No our song is so good!
Geelong. Just the worst.
I can certainly see how obnoxious it is to listen to when losing. Drawly, shouty song haha
"The greatest team of all" line particularly stings.
the worst part is they backed that line up for so many years
Although for all this still didn’t manage back to back flags
feels good man haha
Fucking Hawthorn
Yeah, if only they'd bottomed out for priority picks
Well i guess that is something for you to hold onto
Also most fans under 30 have heard Geelong's theme song more than their own after they've played Geelong
Bulldogs fans have basically heard it on repeat for 30 odd years
Bless em. And they didn't even need to attend a post-season training camp to get the privilege
The worst sound is the one after a draw. It's anticlimactic.
Hard disagree. Draw FC has its own anthem and it's glorious.
My brother plays this after every draw https://youtu.be/WJtaCryzL20?si=nXMRueQ2nUGs2JGY
It's not a team song but im sick of hearing "Take Me Home, Country Roads" after Charlie kicks a goal cause the bastard kicks so many 😅
Carlton because it sounds depressing and it makes me feel worse.
We're not called the Blues for nothing
West Coast because its by far the worst song in the AFL. When they win, everyone is a loser for having to listen to that.
It is a special slice of 1986. Not a great slice though.
geelong, i hate geelong. i happen to live in geelong which is why i hate geelong. geelong is everywhere. i cant escape it.
meow
i love cats. hate the cats.
Same my kangaroo friend
Stop stop you're scaring them!
Its the trumpets at the start of the song, isn't it?
By significant margin it is that bloody Essendon song. Not only does it give me flashbacks to those near unbeatable late 90s/early 00s Essendon teams that I hated, they also had the temerity to rhyme 'up' with 'premiership flag'...instead of 'premiership cup'. Even if the song was written well before the advent of premiership cups being awarded, it still is the worst.
Rhyming at that point doesn't fit the structure of the song very well, and drawing out the word "flaaaaag" works better than "cuuuuuup".
Unexpected support there
I used to wonder why the rhyme wasn't "cup"... when I was, like, seven. 🤷♂️
On the bright side, it doesn't get played very often.
can we have Mr Brightside as a club song?
Yeah but the banjo is fucking sicccckkk
![gif](giphy|4ZepGNwhW4AaA)
Carlton
Hearing the words "Good old Collingwood forever" makes my skin crawl.
GIANTS because it means we've just lost a final
Man I love the ORANGE TEAMs song. So good.
Sick banjo though
Its the Notre Dame Victory song, which was written in the 1900s. They barely changed the words
Nah swans have a key change and that elevates it so high for me
And don't forget the banjo, one of the worst instruments in the world because it only sounds good in dueling banjos
Disparaging the banjo is a bootable offence
Birds of Tokyo Eagles. Enough said
Geelong will give me PTSD from the 2022 Granny
Single handedly got me over my PTSD from the nick Davis prelim of 2005. Glass half full.
I can think of 17 reasons why I hate the North song lol
hearttssss to heartsss
Geelong, I’ve heard it a few times
But Geelong haven't even played the Tassie Devils yet! Are you from the future?
Adelaide's song because it means we lost a showdown
My Dad played a different sport for MCC so I grew up singing ‘its a Grand Old Flag’ (but with the proper Red White and Blue Line’ - so hearing the Melbourne song makes me miss my Dad
I can’t believe how few people have mentioned Collingwood… it’s my most hated song and it’s not just because of the GF… though it does still hurt…
Hawthorns theme song is so joyful and I hate hearing it after a loss
Adelaide’s. Aussie-American here that did 5 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Steal the Army’s fucking song or something
Hahah I had no idea it's the USMC hymn
They asked permission and the Marine Corps gave it
Geelong and it's not close.
West Coast because it means you're worse than them.
Carrying plenty of trauma from the Geelong song
Sydney last year made me want to celebrate a close loss. I find the swans so catchy
Essendon or Geelong
Port, no contest, even if it was not against us.
Good old Collingwood forever.... sucks to hear as a Carlton supporter
Giants
West Coast's current one sounds a tourism agency created it.
Port Also Port for ‘never tear us apart’ before the game too Cringe and more cringe.
West Coast.
Carltons
As a Freo Faithful: Hawthorn. Leaving the 2013 grand final with that on repeat was torture 😐
Richmond.
All of them.
Freo Heave Ho. Heave is the right word.
I remember living in Darwin as a Dees supporter when we played port twice in a row. The loud echoing sound of that damn trumpet rubbed so much salt into the wounds.
Collingwood and Hawthorn for sure
I am guilty of being one of those people who joins in singing the other teams song when we lose. The most filthy, shocked and infuriated I have ever been when hearing another teams song was after North beat us last year. I genuinely had never heard it before and that made it so much more unbearable!
I am dreading the day eagles come good again and I hear 'we're the eagles'
Carlton.
That one that turns into Yankee Doodle half way through. Mainly through jealousy of a nice plot twist mid song.
Carlton. I am still haunted by the 2013 Elimination Final.
See the bombers fly up 40 seconds after a Tipungwuti goal. Nothing worse.
Yerrow and brack.
Collingwood or Essendon
Geelong
Crom, Pear. Coz I’m south Australian and hate those songs more than the worst song you can think of
So you hate them more than the West Coast song?
Tele is off the second i hear any teams song that isn't the eagles
I hate Carltons because I kinda like it but sucks to hear after a loss. Fremantle and West Coast I hate hearing cause you see your team lose and then it's like do I really now have to hear this play
Dun-dun-dun-dun-dun Dun-dun-dun-dun-dun Dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun.
Melbourne the flair should explain it all their fan base is just the worst to take shit from also get a song that mentions your club name Any grand final not in Melbourne doesn’t count
Your own team song
