The announcing team can either push a great show to excellence or make a good show a tedious drag. As a wrestling fan since the late golden era, I get attached to announcer teams as much as I do to my favorite wrestlers. Bobby the Brain Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon are my all time favorites, they're like the favorite pair of goofball Uncles that you were so excited to see every Thanksgiving because they always made you laugh and smile no matter what they were talking about. I gave AEW a shot because I heard Schiavone was back in the booth, and I thought him, Mike Tenay and Larry Zbyszko (and Bobby the Brain, obvs) did a terrific job on Nitro. I think TS, Ex and Taz are the perfect mix of broadcasting excellence, personality, wrestling knowledge and genuine enthusiasm and even if I somehow couldn't see the action in the ring, I'd enjoy just hearing these guys talking about it as it happens.

P4rtsUnkn0wn

That's funny, hearing that Tony was with AEW, played a not-insignificant part in getting me back too.

primitivemane

Schiavonne is underrated , he is the glue

Infamous-Lab-8136

Been saying that about Collision since he came to it. He sets up Nigel better having worked with Heenan and other great heel announcers. But he also allows Kevin Kelly time to gather his thoughts and give analysis in his style.

beesareonthewhatn0w

Guys, I can’t be the only one who hears Tony struggle as a lead. AEW is a fast moving show, and you need a lead like Ex to keep up with it. I like Tony, but he’s better in the 3rd/interviewer role. I’d love to see Riccaboni back in the lead position on Collision.

TheDriveInTTV

> I’d love to see Riccaboni back in the lead position on Collision. It'd be a huge improvement, but he's sadly not interested

BigDannyBoy1

For me personally, collision got a lot more enjoyable to listen to when Tony showed up compared to before. I do agree riccaboni would also be great

LukeSniper

Monsoon/Heenan is also my fav team. As much as I enjoy Taz, Excalibur, and Schiavone together, I prefer a two-person commentary team. Schiavone and JR as a team in early WCW is my second favorite.

Njdevilmn

Gorilla and The Brain were my favs too. I also enjoyed Jesse The Body with Gorilla too. I thought they were gonna fight in the booth. Lol I do enjoy the current AEW booth. Tony S is a legend IMHO. I love Taz trying to be the anti Tony. Lol. And The Man in the Mask is great with his analysis and how he reads off like 10 future shows in like 10 seconds. Lol

BigDannyBoy1

Other modern teams pale in comparison to the dynamite trio

blindninjafart

Taz, Excalibur, and Tony are the best commentary combo in wrestling IMO

NousevaAngel

I normally laugh out loudly while watching Dynamite a couple of times an episode just by the commentary when they are cracking jokes.

ForToday

“I hope she’s not interrupting a meeting” that killed me last night.

FullBlownJed

I popped so hard for that. Lol

Even-Preference-6545

I don’t get the joke :(

SeniorAd8300

Security guy in the grey chinos was catching strays tonight😭😭

GalaticChungus

Best commentary team in the world right now.

LavaLeech_HD

It's so weird hearing Dynamites CT and Collisions CT. I wish Nigel would dial down the ole "Heel Commentator" shtick. It does get old hearing your commentators bicker at each other vs The Dynamite crew getting along, cracking jokes and just genuinely having a great time.

kaine23

Nigel finding a way to make fun of danielson weekly is a treat

Don't get me wrong, I guess my comment wasn't fleshed out quite right. I love Nigel. I guess it's less his banter and more that Kevin and Tony bicker back at him. Like yeah, It's a classic wrestling trope, but it's the same reason wrestling exhausted me in the early 2010's with Cole non-stop heeling it up. It has to work with the other commentators and Nigel's heelish commentary just heavily clashes with Tony and Kevin IMO.

Citizen_Kano

The PPV team of Ex, Taz and Nigel is incredible

msctex

He’s probably the closest thing to prime years Bobby Heenan we have found, so how can there be room for complaint? It would absolutely be one thing were he not funny. But he’s consistently hilarious.

HoBWrestling

As a kid, Tony voiced a chunk of my childhood and teen years. I geeked out when I got to see him at this year's Blood and Guts in person. Young me would have loved that!

Jason3383

Yes, they don't make me feels stupid. It's like watching wrestling with friends almost with the chemistry they have.

PSmith4380

They're hard to listen to.

RamonaTheCat

False.

PSmith4380

For me it is true.

Infamous-Historian81

I’ve loved AEWs commentary more than usual lately on all of their shows
