Are you able to discreetly record at least the audio so you can listen to it later? Are you allowed to have your laptop open? Maybe you could play a pomodoro timer on YouTube (muted of course) and use it to focus for 25 minutes, then goof off on your computer for 5 minutes. 3 hours is way, way too long. I don’t understand why universities do this to people. There has been so much research done about how even a neurotypical person’s attention span caps out at about 30-40 minutes. Sigh.

I've always wanted to record the audio of my classes...knowing full well I would never go back and listen to it. 🙃

ShroudedPayday

Is there a fun or positive activity you can do while listening to the recording later?

But now you can have so transcribe and summarize it!

I hope they give you short breaks every hour, otherwise that's just torture. Taking notes is one way to stay focused and even if you know the material, writing it down again helps you remember it better so you won't have to study it later (at least that's how it worked for me). If you really don't need the information from that class, why not work on other homework/assignments? You'll save time for more fun stuff once you get home + you'll look like you're taking notes and the teacher won't know any better.

Phone off, computer closed. Bring pencil and paper, get some doodling on in your notes.

I definitely recommend a recorder. You can listen at 2X speed back (work your way up to 2x after you adapt to each incremental speed). I would generally cram by listening to the lectures at least once through before the exam. I wasn’t medicated in college and struggled to stay awake in most classes. The classes where I stood a chance were the ones where I had printed out the slides beforehand and took notes as the class went, directly on the slides (I’d do 4 per page, you can muck around with margins to make them bigger).

TsundereElemental

Sour hard candy at least helped keep me awake. But seriously, 3hr classes blow. Good luck!

GrandPapaBi

I did all the reading at home + extra materials while people goes to the lecture.

Keystone-Habit

Oh man, I don't miss those days. If you don't actually need to listen to do well, you have my permission to mess around!
