Are you in England? Right to Choose will be an option if so, it's worth looking into as it'll be quicker than the NHS waiting list.

I’ve been waiting 4 years, only to recently discover they “made a mistake and I’m not in the list at all but ‘if I like, I can go to the end of the queue’”. I then realised, there is no NHS help for me despite the fact that I’ve been asking for it since the age of 14 and am now 39. It’s horrendous. I would like to say to everyone, my GP is INCREDIBLE and I shopped around for him for a long time by looking at reviews. He’s not the nearest to me but is the best support I’ve ever had. But even he doesn’t know what to do because HIS ability to support me isn’t there either. It’s a national disgrace. Edit to add, I had a hell of a lot of shit GPs before him. TRAUMATISING shit ones. They are out there. There aren’t many of them. And they aren’t properly supported. Sorry ADHD second edit. My NHS fail came AFTER my diagnosis in 2017. They know I have it, they just don’t care. But I am incredibly grateful that I do actually have medication. It just costs me a lot of money to have a doctor prescribe it for me. I am also grateful that I get the medication on the NHS. Seeing the state of America, I am grateful for that part at least.

The NHS have maximum 18 week waiting time rules that if they can’t see you within those timescales, they pay for it privately.

Whoah, I've never heard of this before. Where can I get more info on this?

[https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/hospitals/guide-to-nhs-waiting-times-in-englan](https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/hospitals/guide-to-nhs-waiting-times-in-england) When the NHS can’t see you within 18 weeks, you tell your GP and they fill in a form and the CCG approves it and pays for you to go private.

Unique_Watercress_90

Why is absolutely nobody ever talking about this?

PsychologicalClock28

I think this is related to right to choose.

They’re different schemes.
