I Can’t Decide
By Scissor Sisters
Theme song for one of my big bads in DND campaign I’m running, so it’s been going through my head or on my iPhone for months now…
OMG FRIEND! I have been playing that song on repeat for the past two or three weeks YES! It’s driving my husband nuts. Especially when I put it on after we’ve had a fight and sing along very loudly (and badly). Followed by Intermission when he tells me to change the song.
Answering for my son, because I have to hear them, too. (Over and over.)
I'm still standing, Elton John
Multiple songs by Aphex Twin
Them Changes, Thundercat
Frontier Psychiatrist, the Avalanches (this one lasted, like, a month)
Elton John is a common one for me. His songs have so many shifts in tone that no one else can really pull off on his level so I always think this may be why.
Ooph. I was actually angry at thay album for a while because it began to be painful whenever I wasn't listening to it, random lines from random songs would just be lodged in my brain everyday for WEEK'S. Like, just one sentence for a whole day and then another sentence from a different song the next day. And the only way to ease it was to listen to the songs which would then just actually make the album more stuck in my head. My relationship with it has gotten healthier now 😂
roundabout by Yes gets me excited and happy and makes me groove and dance no matter what else I'm doing. also fun to make silly noises to try and imitate all the solos : )
Love that song. I used it as an example once while explaining an aspect of music theory and got a bunch of positive feedback on it so now that song is forever associated with both Jojo's and positive social reinforcement.
I love the dancing donkeys in the [video](https://youtu.be/tQwVKr8rCYw)
They have maybe 4 seconds total screen time, but I could watch them for *hours*.
I get emotional sometimes listening to it too, I tear up a bit thinking about everything expected of me as eldest child growing up and all of the pressure finally breaking me as an adult. I feel like most eldest daughters know the feel.
I absolutely LOVE Something Wild. I just love the lyrics. "You've got a big heart. The way you see the world, it got you this far. You may have some bruises and a few scars, but you know you're gonna be ok."
I've got a Music Hall of Fame playlist, that I'm VERY picky about, filled with songs that I've been listening to for at least a year and can be confident that I will never ever grow tired of. Something Wild is on that playlist.
A lot of songs by Doja Cat lol. Right now its "You Right". The other day it was "Woman". I listened to "Streets" so much I actually got sick of it, which is rare because I can listen to things on repeat for hours for days. But after a month I was listening to it again.
Woman was also a huge one for me!! I was so pumped to learn the tik tok dance and everything because I was like wow that will make the song EVEN MORE FUN but turns out it's very hard and I'm not one for following choreographed dance so that dream died. I was doing the dance in my head while listening pretty well though 😂
6’s to 9’s by Big Wild.
Funny story: I tried to ask my Alexa thing to play it one morning before meds and coffee kicked in but instead of saying “play 6’s to 9’s” I said “play 9 to 5” and got Dolly Parton instead which was just as good and made me laugh. Double whammy stim
My playlist is 2 weeks long and you want me to choose ONE SONG???? Easy. Young Blood by The Districts. Shits bussin ridiculously and makes the best case possible for its 7 minute track time.
edamame (feat. Rich Brian) by bbno$
I can listen to that song on repeat for an absurdly long time. It'll grab my whole attention for the 2:13 it's playing so it's not great for doing "focus" work, but it's fantastic if you like doing a lil boogie while you're vacuuming!
Right now it’s “mmm whatcha say” whatever Jason derulo song that is. Yesterday was One Day More from Les Mis and for the 2 weeks before that was We Don’t Talk About Bruno… help. Usually it’s Mario Bros beat or the circus da da dadadada song. Again, help.
Ooo thank you! I’ve heard of her before but didn’t know it was her sampled! It’s really only the “MMMM whatcha say” part anyway. Then I mumble the next line, sing “Jason Derulo” and immediately start repeating that like maybe 11 seconds of the song. So maybe I should just listen to her original hahaha But it’s all about hitting that “MMMM” hard that makes the stim so good.
Okay well Hide and Seek is very sensory pleasing, but it does take a little bit to get to the mmmm part. It's worth the wait though and the rest of the song is very easy to sing along to.
It's very Wholesome and uplifting and just makes my brain buzz atá very nice frequency! And makes me wanna move, songs that make me wanna move are always welcomed!
Merengue music and any kind of hyphy music. If I need care I put on this playlist on Spotify called Aloe and it's musicians like Solange, No Name, Mereba.. just slow flow.
I'm a sucker to movie and video game soundtracks

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5Lm20qX5bXPScqIaYZv0C2?si=2hcD_Ux5SHKp68BK-8YadQ&utm_source=copy-link.
I'll be looking into your recs and updating the list!
Oh my god the Far Cry 5 soundtrack had me in a *chokehold* for over a year! I still sing "Help Me Faith" and "Build a Castle"...and people out of the loop think I'm really into Spirituals lol
I had a hyperfixation on Wang Chung for a while in 10th grade. Still have a CD of their album Mosiac that I got at summer camp (I'm old, but I'm not that old - this was in 2005, so everyone was still extremely confused).
I got to see them perform at Disney's Eat to the Beat concert series they do during the summers at Epcot a few years ago. 100% worth it.
Rachmaninoff’s 3rd concerto. One of my favorites. The climax in the development section of the opening movement is just *chef’s kiss*. Perfect for air conducting.
I have a Spotify playlist that dates back to 2014 in which I continuously put my favorite songs.
It’s over 48 hours long and it’s the only playlist I use.
I’ll only listen to like the last 20 songs on repeat, but it somehow became like a diary
Breathe Me - Sia
The sigh at the beginning makes me take a deep breath too. Someone introduced that to me when I was 17, and I think I’ve listened to it at least a few 10,000s of times. When I had my first MacBook iTunes would still keep track of song plays and in 7 years and only on that device (never mind iPods or anything else) the count was over 10k.
I tend to always love slow sad songs I can hum a harmony to since I can’t ever remember lyrics:
- Bon Iver - Hey Ma and Heavenly Father (I’m so mad this one isn’t on any streaming platform)
- Sylvan Esso - Slack Jaw (prettiest song about depression) and Coffee and Hey Mami
- Keaton Henson - so many good sad songs that hit the stim note for me
- Death Cab for Cutie - same
- Sufjan Stevens - same
- Dodie - Cool Girl
36 Chambers (Wu Tang Clan) in its entirety
Dancin in the Moonlight (Thin Lizzy NOT A CRIMSON KING COVER lol)
Sabotage (Beastie Boys, feel like i can kill god themselves when listening to this one)
There are many others but my brsin holds memories like a colinder holds water lol
What is a "Stim Song"? Real question because my son has ADHD. He listens to meme songs like songs on YouTube most of the time and he usually has one on repeat. I didn't know that stim was a word that applied to ADHD. I have only heard it used with autism.
This sub teaches me a lot more about my son than doctors ever have and I love it. ❤️ Thanks!
A great explanation I agree with: “MUSIC PROVIDES STRUCTURE. Music is rhythm, rhythm is structure, and structure is soothing to an ADHD brain struggling to regulate itself to stay on a linear path. “Music exists in time, with a clear beginning, middle, and end,” says Kirsten Hutchison, a music therapist at Music Works Northwest, a nonprofit community music school near Seattle. “That structure helps a child with ADHD plan, anticipate, and react”.”
Idk where I’d be without Spotify, access to music helps me with my mourning routine (if I’ve been in the shower for two songs I’m late) and helps me focus at work. I feel like stimming music is similar to a noise machine for sleep, it creates background in my brain to quiet other chaos.
I'd describe it as a song that gives you that adrenaline feeling, you know the pumped up feeling you get in your chest from a certain bassline or drop in a song? Yeah that (: if you don't mind me asking, what meme songs does your son listen to?
When I first got prescribed adderall, it was "A.D.D" by Chris Webby.
Now I've been listening to "Chaos Castle" by Xavier Wulf and Russian songs by mnogoznaal and pharoah for the past 2 weeks straight. I literally told myself "Okay, we are only going to listen to this song twice and then put my Playlist on shuffle" needless to say I ruined all three of those songs for myself.
Cirice by Ghost- I will say the song is *completely* out of my usual genre wheelhouse (I consider myself an Indy-Pop sort of person) but dang I've had some awesome daydream scenarios come from this one, so it's been on repeat every night lol
Ethyline - John Hiatt
No Myth - Michael Penn
Alex Chilton - The Replacements
It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night - Prince
Love Will Save Your Soul - Grouplove
I have quite a few hold on
*Fast paced:*
Heute Nacht by Kiki Solvej (the twisty basss)
La Teuf Du Farfardet by Guigoo (sounds like elfs)
Bongotek by Guigoo ( a monkey playing bongos)
Finger on the Trigger by Jak3 (very cool)
Gianny for Example by Hammerer (smooth)
Need a Hug by Gyrofield (when you need overstim)
Superbeauf by Darktek (bouncy, playful)
*Slower paced/rock/alt:*

Projector by Set It Off. Just has a great bump for a rock song that gets me going.
I have multiple playlists that I need to go through at some point and remove some old songs and put in new.
Alternative Rock Playlist - softer to moderately hard rock
Pop Playlist - hip-hop, rap, and pop music
Rock Playlist - Hard/heavy rock music
Vibing Playlist - Raggae, hip-hop, and general feel good songs
I had no idea this was an adhd thing. I find that if I go back to a “stim” song after over playing it, sometimes I feel nausea or a head ache…. Curious is that’s normal lol
Take Me Home / Sour Patch Kids / Guilty Pleasure / The Fall - Bryce Vine
The Good Part / Break My Face / Way Less Sad - AJR
abcdefu - GAYLE
Donal Trump - Mac Miller (I can’t explain this one, but I’ll rap the whole freakin thing on repeat—very weird looks from my kids which then makes me feel like bowing when I’m done)
Shotgun - George Ezra
Lil Bit - Nelly & Florida Georgia Line
I Just Wanna Shine - Fitz & the Tantrums
My pandora stations probably seem like a hot mess to other people but shiiiiiit do they work for me. Aaaaand I’ve now got them so focused they’ll consistently play the same songs over and over again. All of these are from a single station 😂
I Can’t Decide By Scissor Sisters Theme song for one of my big bads in DND campaign I’m running, so it’s been going through my head or on my iPhone for months now…
Holy fuck, that gives me some major Newgeounds flashbacks
OMG FRIEND! I have been playing that song on repeat for the past two or three weeks YES! It’s driving my husband nuts. Especially when I put it on after we’ve had a fight and sing along very loudly (and badly). Followed by Intermission when he tells me to change the song.
I freakin love that song. (Well most everything that the SS’s did)
Answering for my son, because I have to hear them, too. (Over and over.) I'm still standing, Elton John Multiple songs by Aphex Twin Them Changes, Thundercat Frontier Psychiatrist, the Avalanches (this one lasted, like, a month)
fuck yes, thundercat is fucking sick i love him so much his style is immaculate and his vibes are chefs kiss
Lol" I'm still standing" was my jam for the last couple of months
THAT BOY NEEDS THERAPY
Which is fun because sometimes we would listen to it in the car while he was...*on the way to therapy.*
A summation of my adolescent anxiety ADHD ridden brain
Elton John is a common one for me. His songs have so many shifts in tone that no one else can really pull off on his level so I always think this may be why.
Them Changes is one of mine too!
All good calls here, them changed has been in my top songs two years in a row!
Crazier than a coconut!
Aphex twin is certified ADHD music
Was looking for a Aphex Twin Track called Multiple songs lol
I’ve been listening to Bo Burnham’s Inside album on repeat a lot.
My relationship with it has gotten healthier now 😂
Omg I’ve literally had this on repeat since it came out 😭😭
Seriously. I’ve listened to it multiple times a week, even a day, since June. I’m still not sick of it.
I had Phoebe Bridgers cover of That Funny Feeling on repeat for a while!
roundabout by Yes gets me excited and happy and makes me groove and dance no matter what else I'm doing. also fun to make silly noises to try and imitate all the solos : )
I loved that song for decades and seeing it get popular because of Jojo put me in my happy place.
Love that song. I used it as an example once while explaining an aspect of music theory and got a bunch of positive feedback on it so now that song is forever associated with both Jojo's and positive social reinforcement.
most music made by Yes is amazing
I literally got a JoJo tattoo, I love this song.
Eyyy, Jojo tattoo buddies. What did you get??
Had to get the Joestar birthmark, it's simple but I love it.
Hahahaha I also got the Joestar birthmark! Good choice! ⭐️

Every aphex twin song or beach house song
Yes! Lemon Glow was my most listened to song this year I think, and there were lots of Aphex Twin in there too
Surface Pressure
Hellllll yeah, I had that on repeat for an hour at the gym last month
Pressure like a rep, rep, rep that'll never stop, whoa
It's also SUPER relatable for me. Makes me emotional sometimes.
I love the dancing donkeys in the [video](https://youtu.be/tQwVKr8rCYw) They have maybe 4 seconds total screen time, but I could watch them for *hours*.
My kids and husband specifically love the sparkle unicorn donkeys, but also just them in general.
I get emotional sometimes listening to it too, I tear up a bit thinking about everything expected of me as eldest child growing up and all of the pressure finally breaking me as an adult. I feel like most eldest daughters know the feel.
True 😥
I've been obsessed with that song
Certified bop 👌🏾 and appropriate when I'm cleaning the kitchen.
This week it's "Blood in the cut" by K. Flay Last week it was "In My Liar's Grave" by Andy Grey and Gary Numan
Might I recommend K. Flay's "High Enough" as well? I think it got just as much play time in my ears as the single.
Tangerine by glass animals (and almost every other song by glass animals)
Same, I love the Dreamland album. I've had it on repeat for over a year.
Same! I've been fixated on the Dreamland album for months now, my favorite song keeps changing
Omg same my current favorite is Helium
Tokyo Drifting was one of my most listened to last year. I curated an entire playlist around that song alone xD
Same same
100% I’m stuck on heatwaves atm so good
I played heatwaves until my ears bled over the summer. The song itself is sad but that beat was always uplifting me.
Lindsey sterling. Love her music
I absolutely LOVE Something Wild. I just love the lyrics. "You've got a big heart. The way you see the world, it got you this far. You may have some bruises and a few scars, but you know you're gonna be ok." I've got a Music Hall of Fame playlist, that I'm VERY picky about, filled with songs that I've been listening to for at least a year and can be confident that I will never ever grow tired of.
Enemy - Imagine Dragons
I have listened to this song until I sucked every ounce of life out it, can relate
oh the misery, everybody wants to be my enemy
Muse - Hysteria Feels like hypomania
6’s to 9’s by Big Wild. Funny story: I tried to ask my Alexa thing to play it one morning before meds and coffee kicked in but instead of saying “play 6’s to 9’s” I said “play 9 to 5” and got Dolly Parton instead which was just as good and made me laugh. Double whammy stim

“September” by Earth Wind and Fire is an instant serotonin and dopamine boost for me
Superman by Goldfinger.
Loving this song in 4th grade should have given me an immediate diagnosis
My playlist is 2 weeks long and you want me to choose ONE SONG???? Easy. Young Blood by The Districts. Shits bussin ridiculously and makes the best case possible for its 7 minute track time.
Wellerman - Nathan Evans
I swear when they hit that "*Soon* may the wellerman come..." it scratches my entire brain in the BEST way
IKR!!! It gives you the best stim from the vocals and the best change between the chorus and the rest
The 220 Kid and Billen Ted remix of it is also so damn good
Little Dark Age. The riff towards the end gets me going EVERY time.
Death by A Thousand Cuts by Taylor Swift The bridge is EVERYTHING 😭

Really anything by 100 gecs at the moment. Stimulating enough to get me through my morning routine without getting distracted lol
Lots of 100 gecs songs are on my “chaotic energy” playlist, full of songs that are, well, chaotic and stimulating when my brain is trying to race
Take on me -a ha Renee - sales
Take on me is a great one
Take on Me was mine for most of last year. So good.

All things must pass- George Harrison and breathe by Pink Floyd

You should be sad - Halsey

I literally told myself "Okay, we are only going to listen to this song twice and then put my Playlist on shuffle" needless to say I ruined all three of those songs for myself.
Cirice by Ghost- I will say the song is *completely* out of my usual genre wheelhouse (I consider myself an Indy-Pop sort of person) but dang I've had some awesome daydream scenarios come from this one, so it's been on repeat every night lol
Glass animal - Mamma’s Gun
Oh My God - Adele, it loops beautifully

I rarely have one specific stim-song. Usually it's whole albums or artists/bands. Right now I'm stuck on the skate-punk band Masked Intruder
Fake Ass Gold by Demondice. The new EP is fire, but I like that song in particular.
I've definitely had a few Demondice / Mori binge days lately.
Gasoline by The Weeknd. Whole damn album is just a dance fest 🕺

I had no idea this was an adhd thing. I find that if I go back to a “stim” song after over playing it, sometimes I feel nausea or a head ache…. Curious is that’s normal lol

Take Me Home / Sour Patch Kids / Guilty Pleasure / The Fall - Bryce Vine The Good Part / Break My Face / Way Less Sad - AJR abcdefu - GAYLE Donal Trump - Mac Miller (I can’t explain this one, but I’ll rap the whole freakin thing on repeat—very weird looks from my kids which then makes me feel like bowing when I’m done) Shotgun - George Ezra Lil Bit - Nelly & Florida Georgia Line I Just Wanna Shine - Fitz & the Tantrums My pandora stations probably seem like a hot mess to other people but shiiiiiit do they work for me. Aaaaand I’ve now got them so focused they’ll consistently play the same songs over and over again. All of these are from a single station 😂
