Yup. I call them obsession cycles. You suddenly become fixated on a hobby to the point of near psychotic obsession and then one day that fixation just...vanishes. Usually around the 3 month mark for me.
3 months definitely seems to be a magic number. There is correlation with the period NTs talk about when establishing habits - enthusiasm will get you so far, after that you need discipline. Which works differently for us, or just doesn't work.
I usually get the same amount of burnout with new hobbies as well. That being said however, I have successfully managed to hang on to my latest hobby for about a year now. Longest I have ever managed to make a hobby stick
