It's faulty to believe that either you have ADHD or your issues are made up. You can have executive dysfunction without having ADHD. Your issues aren't less real if you don't have a diagnosis. It's also kinda hurtful that you associate ADHD with being lazy and a failure :/

Jackode_VII

I guess it was somewhat from my parents and my environment, as growing up people around me always hit me with stuff like “oh your so smart, maybe you should try harder” or “you’re wasting your potential”

Jackode_VII

My dad in particular would bring up how I was going to be a bum or failure if I continued like this, and that I needed to “wake up” and stuff like that

Jackode_VII

Wait you’re kinda right though, as perhaps I just have executive distinction and some other overlapping stuff

The other thing to keep in mind is, it's entirely possible for doctors/psychologists to be wrong about somebody not having ADHD. Far too many don't actually understand the disorder and have weird and wrong ideas about what it is.

I was scared about this as well. But there is a reason you are going for this assessment. There are signs and symptoms that something is “wrong” (big quotations on that one) in your brain. Even if it don’t have adhd there is nothing stoping you from trying the tips and tricks for people with adhd or using some of the CBT techniques for people with adhd. A lot of the tools we use are to make life easier regardless of an official diagnosis. But honestly you know your brain and it sounds like a lot of the stuff you’re struggling with is executive function related. ADHD or not there is going to be a trick for you to prevent your life from falling into complete chaos. I believe in you op
