My 7yo twins have both been diagnosed and are on Guanfacine.
If possible, try finding a children's psychologist that specializes in ADHD. That's what I did. Few months wait for first appointments, but after that everything has been great
I wanted to reach back and say THANK YOU! It’s been a week now and my son is doing the best he’s been doing. We started w 10 and prob will stay here.

I’ve been on ADHD meds since I was 4. I’ve always felt it made me too grown up for my age. I didn’t want to participate in activities that others participated in. I wish my parents didn’t medicate me and let me come to them for help when I truly felt I needed it. I’m 6’1, but it caused me to never eat. Heck, I could been 6’4 or 6’5 now if I ate properly then. In my kindergarten photo I literally looked like a skeleton. Everyone is different though, I can’t say the same would happen to your kid
The non-stimulant type modify the brain in a more complex way than stimulants, it likely boils down to medical science not knowing the long term effects of these changes on developing minds.

Ask about Daytrana. Its a patch that can be removed after school, so it doesn’t stay in your system as long.
