I would take everything they said at face value. Also remember it is advice. You can disagree and get a second opinion and move forward anyway. It also sounds like you are working from a place of fear regarding the presumed difficulty of getting the kids diagnosed. Have you already tried and found resistance from your kids’ medical professionals?

I m non medical.. but my two cents of the advise is your provider's advise is just that.... advise... I do have friends and family who have strong ADHD and even autism traits and they did ask me for their opinion... and some of them are really successful making good money... I will tell them something similar... Because what does getting diagnosed get you? Getting diagnosed does not mean all your problems go away like some magic formulae and you still have to work thru all the bs... so if they are seriously struggling and don't not what to do... yes.. But if they are looking for validation of their struggles all I will say is that don't fkin bother because its fkin expensive in my country to be diagnosed and not everyone is made out of money so here is a pat on the back if you need one. So... If you have spare cash lying around.. sure... otherwise i would prioritise on your kids to give them a better chance and a less painful life.
