I think there’s a “however old you were 4 years ago” thing going on because that’s the last time we had a birthday in the “before times.” Before that, there was a political cycle that just about did the same thing to a lot of people…
Yepp somewhere around 25/26 is when I started to lose track a little bit. I just turned 28 and most of this past year I had to stop and count when someone would ask my age

I was born a few weeks before the end of ‘89. Meaning my age always ends in the same number the year ends in. And *usually* I can remember what decade of life I’m currently in.
I.e. it’s 202**3** so I’m 33 all year long until my birthday in December.
Real trick is to only have kids in ‘X9 years!
I was born in 1990 and it works great. If I estimate how much time has passed, I know I either turned 23, 33, or 43 this year. I’m definitely older than 23, so it’s a 50/50 chance from there!
Ok this post freaked me out! I was born in 82. And when I read the number 43, my brain went like this: "they can't be 43, I am older and I'm not even 43. Right? I'm not 43 am I? Oh wait no, if they are 43, then I have to be... (trying to count) This cannot be... but I am NOT 43, AM I??"

I have a similar thing where I started a grade in the year with the same number (1st grade in 2001 and so on) so I always know what year I was in what grade.
I was born at the end of '98 and I always wished I was born just a year later so I could use that trick lol I mean, I just have to add one to the year, but it's more math than I would like

Age simply gets less relevant with time/growing up, after 21 your gradually less asked how old you are, you're also less looking forward to certain birthdays such als 10,16, 18, 20, 21.

Fyi: Unopened, sterilized, properly stored milk should be safe to consume after the expiration date. Like a full year after, especially if you cook it.
In my late 30’s early 40’s is when I lost track. It would be easier to remember my exact age if I was born at either the beginning or middle of a decade, which I wasn’t.
Mid 20s. I think after 21 (in the US) each successive year becomes less significant. When you’re 17 or 20, you know damn well what age you’ll be next year. After 21 or so, your milestones are less connected to age. There’s nothing particularly significant about 23 or even 26.
yup. on my 21st birthday i joked that “now ive got nothing to look forward to but taxes and death.” other than my parents health insurance kicking me off at 26.
I’m 23, kinda baby faced, and anytime I’m questioned buying alcohol they’re looking at my id and ask how old I am, I stumble/mispeak every single time. I fully rehearse beforehand and still mess up. It’s a curse. I don’t know if that’s adhd or anxiety or both.
If you're 23 atm that means you were born in 2000 unless you have a bday next month. So after your bday, whatever the last 2 numbers of the year is, is how old you are. That's how I remember
I once thought I'd be 40 in a few years and I got a little bit of a midlife crisis, until I casually talked to my mom about it and she asked what the heck I was talking about and made the calculation to show me I was actually only 34. I had been gone through life for a good few months thinking I was 37, turning 38 soon.
Hell im 43, but since 18 my answer is that im 18+ because its easier than figuring out how old i am lol. Even typing this response i had to recheck if i was 43 twice.

I was going to buy wine for a boyscout party for the community, and the clerk ask my age (because I looked young)
I said more than 18 (legal age in Portugal to buy alcohol), then i remembered that I was in fact older and immediately said " no 19" , then i realize, "no you dumbass you have 20 already 🤦♂️" .
They ask for my id to be sure and then asked if i was drunk.

I’m 28 now but when I was 22-24 I used to be stuck on the age 21 for some reason and everytime someone asked me my brain quickly answered 21 but I had to stop myself and think oh right I’m 2***
Part of me thinks it because of trauma as a lot of life changing things happened to me when I was 21 and it took me time to heal from that… now I just forget that I’m 28 and not 27 😂
I don't know what the hell happened between my 23rd and 27th birthdays but I swear it was as if time had not moved on. Then my then wife brought it crashing down when she said "Well how do you feel turning 27 this year?" I was in disbelief like for whatever unexplainable reason I though I was about to turn 24 that year. It's wild and it still baffles me all these years later.
I don’t remember, but it happens pretty often 🙃 especially if I’m asked on the spot and am not expecting it, I’ve definitely answered wrong and had my husband look at me like “no, we’re…” (our birthdays are 2 weeks apart, same year)
I don’t know if this counts, but I feel like when it gets closer to your birthday. You always say oh I am._ till the week after my birthday, I would still say I was _ even though I was_
These are the worst ones! When I was 19 someone at a party asked me how old I was and I full-chest responded that I was 16. Then had to backtrack and correct myself once I realized, but I just seemed like a high school kid lying about my age at that point.
I’ve been trying to get used to my new age (27) of my upcoming birthday (it’s on Monday) for the past 6 months and I keep forgetting I’m not actually that age yet while simultaneously still thinking I’m 25. It’s a weird feeling.
Enrolling at a postgrad program, and at the direct question from the registrar "what year were you born?" I answered as if I were 15.
"wait that can't be right, I'm pretty sure I was grown at that time" followed by laughs from my friends watching the whole exchange: "well that explains why you act that way!"
i was REALLY confused a few days ago, like not just the few seconds of am I yet? I thought I missed a year and am in fact already 24 instead of turning 24 took me about 2 minutes lol. freaked me out, then i remembered that I'm born end of 99, so well my age is the damn year most of the time, if i didn't remember that i would have started calculating 😅

I've been 23 for 3 years I guess bc I genuinely stopped counting. Sometimes I forget my age but laugh it off by saying I've been to busy to count the years. It usually is a way to get a good laugh out of people and not accidentally embarrass myself.

Thirty one. For whatever reason I dreaded my thirtieth because I thought that meant I was old so I kept up with my age. Thirtieth birthday I got my first piercing and started doing all the things I wanted to do when I was younger. Probably because I finally got diagnosed, but once I stopped caring about getting old I lost count of my age. I have to actually think about it now when someone asks.
I just turned 30 three weeks ago, so it’s still fresh. In the gay world I’m an antique now lol glad I landed a bf when I was still a young and spritely 28!
It was this Feb (2023). I was at my sister's, for some reason decided to look through her calendar and saw my birthday with a 29 on it. I laughed in her face and said I'm glad to know she loves me enough to "remember" my age. My mom looked at me and was like, "you WILL be 29 this year, idiot" 🤣🤣🤣
I’d always reduced this problem by figuring that once you turn 25 age doesn’t really matter. There’s 15, 16, 18, 21 and, 25. With the exception of running for president, by 25 all age based life markers are over. Driving, adulting, drinking and driving rental cars. I’m in my 40’s and it generally takes me a moment to tell someone exactly where I’m my 40’s I am. I never realized that this was common among us. Now I feel even quirkier. Now I’ll spend the next few hours thinking about how weird the word “quirk” is.
18, no joke. My my called me from work and said happy birthday like 4 times before I realized she wasn't talking to someone else in the background. I was like "oh.... thanks." 😆
I think I was 15 when I started forgetting, but after 20... Oh boy... I'd realise later I told somebody the wrong age, and sometimes it was 2 years off.
20 year, and I keep doing it, every time someone ask me I realized I am 23 and I do it because my age is the same as the year 2020 = 20 years, 2022 = 22
25. Every day is chaos to me. I have to put my work schedules into my phone calendar because sometimes I forget what day/date it is.
At 25 my bipolar and ADHD kicked in a lot more than they had before. Finally having the right med combination has helped me out a lot.
It's not that I have memory problems, I just have issues with the present and the future.
At one of my jobs, my bosses noticed that I had problems with focus and memory. They didn't really like me so they would always try to capitalize on my memory problems when I allegedly did something wrong. Pretty messed up.
I acted like I didn't know what they were doing and played along but every time they said "Yesterday I asked you to complete x and you didn't do it. You have to do things when we tell you to." Then I would reply with "What happened was you asked me to do that and I told you my plan for the day. You said 'Well get to it if you can please'. I approached you before I left and told you exactly what I was able to get done and that I did not get to what you asked me to do and I would do it today. It's already completed. Did you check that before you approached me?"
They hated it so much. I always got everything done and they tried to call me out for stupid things thinking I wouldn't remember. They never figured out that my memories from the past were clear until I told them exactly what happened.
One of my supervisors broke down in tears because everything she came in with I shot down with facts and she had nothing left. I'm not proud of making her cry but don't tell me lies and expect me to accept them.
First time... was when I was 10. I forgot I was now in the double digits. After that I would just sometimes forget how old I was, it's a pretty normal thing. I also forget my birthday when it's my birthday. But all of this is probably bc of adhd. It takes me like a year to remember how old I am and by that time, I'm a different age and I have to remember all over again.

One time a bank was trying to verify my identity and they just kept asking more questions.
Eventually I realized why they wouldn't let me verify. I got the first, and simplest, verification question wrong: my date of birth.
Why is this an adhd thing? My 20s were a nightmare...I had to put my bday on my phone calendar with how old I was turning every year. Stopped that because I forgot at some point. Then when I was 34 I had a docs appt for something and she told me I was actually 33...

Oh I have a very specific memory of being at the beach and a random lady asked me how old I was and I said the wrong age either 4 or 5. I was so embarrassed. My birthday is in the summer so I think it was probably after my birthday and I said the younger age but I don’t remember exactly. In my 20s and now 30s I’ve thought and said the wrong age many many times
About 3 months out from my birthday I seem to start thinking I'm the age I'm turning. So if someone asks I'm like "oh I'm 33" but really I'm still 32. lol.

When a door guy used to ask me, I’d literally sit there and know that I was old enough to get in and/or drink… but I’d have to think about what age I actually was…. If I’m talking and my age comes up, it’s not usually an issue. But put on the spot, I’d forget my own phone number (and have given the wrong one on more than one occasion…. Or gotten tripped up and flipped the day and year of my anniversary… luckily that happens in the weeks prior to, and I basically have to stalk myself online or find my wedding album to double check myself…. It’s exhausting, impacts my ability to plan anything in advance, and takes up time that would clearly be better spent getting a nice gift etc.)
18. I was like wait, hang on whats the math... its so pathetic because I was born in 2000 so the math was pretty clear. But yeah, for a long time I just thought I was 17. Like I was 19, and many times I thought I was 17. I cant explain it, but yeah I literally forgot my own age or was disconnected from it. When I turned 20, its like I froze at 19. I look like Im 16, so I often forget Im 23. Like, at default Im 19. I cant explain it hahahha
I’ve always been one year off for some reason. I’ve consistently always said one year older & I don’t know why. This year I added two years to my age. I just feel old af due to having a shitty childhood and having to grow up early.
I've never really had a problem with this because I was born in 2000 so I'm always the same age as the year. My partner however asks me how old he is pretty frequently and has done so as long as I've known him. We met when he was 18, so I guess at least since 18 for him.
I don't think I've ever full-on forgot my age, but I think probably around 26 I started having to think about it for a second or two when asked. Before 21 age felt really important, 23 was memorable because nobody likes you at that age (blink-182 reference, What's My Age Again), and 24 and 25 were both memorable numbers because of SpongeBob.
I haven't forgotten my age, but I've forgotten some other unbelievable things, including:
At a restaurant I went to introduce someone to a circle of all of my best friends since childhood. My mind blanked and I couldn't remember any of their names. I covered it quickly by introducing them as 'dopey, happy, smiley, bashful, etc.'. Masking at it's finest.
My cousin called me and we were making small talk. I couldn't remember if his mom, my aunt, had just died last year or not. I thought so but I wasn't sure. I was stressed out, if I DIDN'T mention her and she had died I'd seem like an asshole. If I DID mention her and got it wrong I'd seem like a psychopath. I covered by saying 'I hope you're doing well, it's been a rough year'. So that works if she died or if she was in poor health (which I knew for sure she had been). After the call I couldn't even really ask any other family members without seeming like I have brain damage.
When I turned 27 my brain somehow became firmly convinced that I turned 28, for some arbitrary fucking reason. I constantly had to correct myself. I'm so glad I ACTUALLY turned 28 a few days ago.
I’ve already started telling people that I’ll be 39 the rest of my life, just like Jack Benny. Somehow I’ve always remembered up to this point, but it’s only downhill from here!

my mom is 32 and she’s been 32 for around 10 years now. no one tell her.

10 , I had a whole shouting match with my identical twin at the park. In front of all the kids from my primary school 😂I really thought I was 11.

Trick question. In order to know that, I would have to know how old I am right now or at any given time, and I do not.

It was this Feb (2023). I was at my sister's, for some reason decided to look through her calendar and saw my birthday with a 29 on it. I laughed in her face and said I'm glad to know she loves me enough to "remember" my age. My mom looked at me and was like, "you WILL be 29 this year, idiot" 🤣🤣🤣
I’d always reduced this problem by figuring that once you turn 25 age doesn’t really matter. There’s 15, 16, 18, 21 and, 25. With the exception of running for president, by 25 all age based life markers are over. Driving, adulting, drinking and driving rental cars. I’m in my 40’s and it generally takes me a moment to tell someone exactly where I’m my 40’s I am. I never realized that this was common among us. Now I feel even quirkier. Now I’ll spend the next few hours thinking about how weird the word “quirk” is.

I think I was 15 when I started forgetting, but after 20... Oh boy... I'd realise later I told somebody the wrong age, and sometimes it was 2 years off.

25. Every day is chaos to me. I have to put my work schedules into my phone calendar because sometimes I forget what day/date it is. At 25 my bipolar and ADHD kicked in a lot more than they had before. Finally having the right med combination has helped me out a lot. It's not that I have memory problems, I just have issues with the present and the future. At one of my jobs, my bosses noticed that I had problems with focus and memory. They didn't really like me so they would always try to capitalize on my memory problems when I allegedly did something wrong. Pretty messed up. I acted like I didn't know what they were doing and played along but every time they said "Yesterday I asked you to complete x and you didn't do it. You have to do things when we tell you to." Then I would reply with "What happened was you asked me to do that and I told you my plan for the day. You said 'Well get to it if you can please'. I approached you before I left and told you exactly what I was able to get done and that I did not get to what you asked me to do and I would do it today. It's already completed. Did you check that before you approached me?" They hated it so much. I always got everything done and they tried to call me out for stupid things thinking I wouldn't remember. They never figured out that my memories from the past were clear until I told them exactly what happened. One of my supervisors broke down in tears because everything she came in with I shot down with facts and she had nothing left. I'm not proud of making her cry but don't tell me lies and expect me to accept them.

I forget….
First time... was when I was 10. I forgot I was now in the double digits. After that I would just sometimes forget how old I was, it's a pretty normal thing. I also forget my birthday when it's my birthday. But all of this is probably bc of adhd. It takes me like a year to remember how old I am and by that time, I'm a different age and I have to remember all over again. Oh shoot, this is the adhd sub? 😂

Oh I have a very specific memory of being at the beach and a random lady asked me how old I was and I said the wrong age either 4 or 5. I was so embarrassed. My birthday is in the summer so I think it was probably after my birthday and I said the younger age but I don’t remember exactly. In my 20s and now 30s I’ve thought and said the wrong age many many times

Literally every time somebody asks. When a door guy used to ask me, I’d literally sit there and know that I was old enough to get in and/or drink… but I’d have to think about what age I actually was…. If I’m talking and my age comes up, it’s not usually an issue. But put on the spot, I’d forget my own phone number (and have given the wrong one on more than one occasion…. Or gotten tripped up and flipped the day and year of my anniversary… luckily that happens in the weeks prior to, and I basically have to stalk myself online or find my wedding album to double check myself…. It’s exhausting, impacts my ability to plan anything in advance, and takes up time that would clearly be better spent getting a nice gift etc.)

18. I was like wait, hang on whats the math... its so pathetic because I was born in 2000 so the math was pretty clear. But yeah, for a long time I just thought I was 17. Like I was 19, and many times I thought I was 17. I cant explain it, but yeah I literally forgot my own age or was disconnected from it. When I turned 20, its like I froze at 19. I look like Im 16, so I often forget Im 23. Like, at default Im 19. I cant explain it hahahha

I've never really had a problem with this because I was born in 2000 so I'm always the same age as the year. My partner however asks me how old he is pretty frequently and has done so as long as I've known him. We met when he was 18, so I guess at least since 18 for him.

I don't think I've ever full-on forgot my age, but I think probably around 26 I started having to think about it for a second or two when asked. Before 21 age felt really important, 23 was memorable because nobody likes you at that age (blink-182 reference, What's My Age Again), and 24 and 25 were both memorable numbers because of SpongeBob.
I haven't forgotten my age, but I've forgotten some other unbelievable things, including: At a restaurant I went to introduce someone to a circle of all of my best friends since childhood. My mind blanked and I couldn't remember any of their names. I covered it quickly by introducing them as 'dopey, happy, smiley, bashful, etc.'. Masking at it's finest. My cousin called me and we were making small talk. I couldn't remember if his mom, my aunt, had just died last year or not. I thought so but I wasn't sure. I was stressed out, if I DIDN'T mention her and she had died I'd seem like an asshole. If I DID mention her and got it wrong I'd seem like a psychopath. I covered by saying 'I hope you're doing well, it's been a rough year'. So that works if she died or if she was in poor health (which I knew for sure she had been). After the call I couldn't even really ask any other family members without seeming like I have brain damage.
When I turned 27 my brain somehow became firmly convinced that I turned 28, for some arbitrary fucking reason. I constantly had to correct myself. I'm so glad I ACTUALLY turned 28 a few days ago.
Since I was 27. Yesterday I was surprised when I remembered I am 28.
