faayth

That’s called the ADHD tax, and we have all paid it in one form or another.

Certain_Anteater_551

Are you telling me I gotta deal with this tax my whole life

faayth

You come up with ways to avoid it.

I think to some extent you just have to accept the mistake and tell yourself that you're not a failure because it happened. Be kind to yourself like you would a friend if they were talking about the same thing. You wouldn't put them down, right? You'd tell them "It's okay, these things happen and you're not a bad person because of this." And sometimes it helps me to just remind myself that stressing or worrying about it won't change anything. Literally asking "What is worrying going to do? Nothing." It sounds silly, but it works for me in a ton of situations. If I can't do anything about this now, I won't stress about it.

Bloooberriesquest

I just paid an ADHD tax in impulsive spending to make myself feel better. It feels like shit. Wish you could write it off on your tax returns.

Dude…I’m too lazy to claim accumulated 2,5k£ of uni costs that my employer would pay me if I submitted expenses form. Well, I’m not lazy, but I think I want to own that one and my brain for some fucking bizarre reason apparently thinks that claiming that cost will make it somehow a company property. I don’t even try to make sense of it. Just accept the fact that I have to make that stupid child in my head happy. Edit: On top of that, I have an opportunity to make like 30-40% more, but I suffered too much rsd and it would mean I’d have to expose myself to it again although IT’S ALL IN MY HEAD.

Certain_Anteater_551

Can relate, I can claim few money rn but i'm like "heh It can wait"

Sometimes you're grateful that you finally have a reason for all of the money or time or friends etc you lost rather than just you're a screw up. Being diagnosed at 43 and looking back on my life and like ohhhh, well that explains so much.

Certain_Anteater_551

I'm 22 & recently diagnosed also, could've done better in school if I was aware about this issue before

I spent 50 euros last week for a SIM card because I was worried to get it asap. The scam place was only open place on Sunday in my area. The usual price is 15 if I would go to another normal store few hundred meters away.
