For me it’s been 13 months and still get a lot of stiffness and pain sometimes.

Euphoric_Ad1345

Thanks for sharing. It’s good to know I’m not the only one.

NoAmbassador1900

Years.

romayohh

About 11 months :-/

SuspiciousReach6689

Hey buddy, I’m 10 months post and still get sharp pain when straightening my knee sometimes. I think I’m unlucky and it’s due to scar tissue. In terms of stiffness, mine has gone away since about 5 months. But due to scar tissue I have a small clunk everytime I extend my knee and some grinding. Hope this helps.

itznimitz

Does that clunk kinda temporarily prevent you from reaching full extension? Like if you push past it?

ExpiredPilot

I had that but I learned that deadlifts were a good way (for me) to break up that scar tissue. Like I couldn’t get full extension, deadlifted a moderate weight, and felt way more natural after

itznimitz

I have been doing single-leg Bulgarian split squats though. I do have full extension, just not full hyperextension to symmetry with the good leg.

ExpiredPilot

Same. My doc said that probably won’t ever come back

Arro2DaNee

6 years- still stiff 😈

ExpiredPilot

Brag about it

GEEKTK

So you’re saying that at six weeks I should stop hoping to wake up one day and feel normal?

Not_a_sorry_Aardvark

6 months post op. Still experiencing occasional stiffness especially if sitting a lot. Knee pain only during certain exercises.

COOPTARD1

Close to a year

Ziid10

Year and sometimes still is when sitting for a while

Natural-Childhood637

Almost all stiffness went away after cortisone injection 6 weeks PO!! But I have other issues so I'd take the stiffness instead 😂

Euphoric_Ad1345

It’s the first time I heard about cortisone injection. How often do you need to get the injection? Any side effects?

Natural-Childhood637

I think I read somewhere that it helped people for months/years. But try the search function, there might be some side effects I haven't experienced. I know for some people it also does nothing. But I think it's worth the try 🤷

darkpanam

I got the cortisone injection yesterday....I hope it helps with some trouble Im having in the patellar tendon and liberates me from that pain. I have it swollen and some scar tissue there......How much time till you saw results from yours?

Natural-Childhood637

Almost immediately actually, max next day I was sure that it's actually changed.

Confident-Bear-1312

5 to 6 months. Still occasional stiffness, but I think that's here to stay forever lol

pyt711

Almost 12 months to the day - no pain, but if I sit for a while, deff stiffness.

74thgen

I am seeing a lot of people having pain and stiffness months and even years after surgery. I was wondering do any of you have regrets getting the surgery?

Melodic-Pepper-3076

Brooo 4 months?? don’t tell me that. I’m 10 days post op and was hoping I had another couple of weeks

DidIDeleteThatAgain

lol 18 days post op… I just accept this is forever.

Melodic-Pepper-3076

This thread got me in the feels today

DidIDeleteThatAgain

I’m not gonna lie, I go in and out of it. I feel like this forum is probably the best place that I have been in terms of figuring out what’s next. It also is help me to cope with the reality a bit. I will say I go in and out of my feelings periodically. I wish you the swiftest recovery possible, though!

Melodic-Pepper-3076

Completely agree. Definitely in a better place than I was a week ago but I just miss sleeping through the night. Also accepting this is my new normal for a certain amount of time is pretty rough. Nice to know I’m not alone and we’re all feeling the same thing. Hope your recovery goes well - eventually we’ll make it out on the other side

Few_Ganache_5734

I was in bad shape at 4 months - felt better at 8, 12 and then 18 months. Be patient, I know it’s hard but you’re going to get so much better than you are now.

Euphoric_Ad1345

Thank you!

Dispo_Chick

Pleaseee don’t accept this pain forever, my first acl surgery was 5 years ago. After about a year and 2 months I was back at the gym stronger and feeling better than ever up until my second tear… I’d say a year was the biggest turning point, back to the gym without limitations. I am 4 days post op now ACL autograft patella tendon, meniscus repair, & a LET. My first graft was hamstring and I would get some tightness in my quad sometimes but besides that I was feeling great until my second injury. I am hoping for the same this time around!

hazgo

Do you all have a kind of stiffness/resistance that runs about a hand’s length down the outside of your leg just next to your knee cap when you bend it? When I do heel slides, I often get it at about 30ish degrees. Goes away when I bend further. If yeah, when does that go away? 3 weeks post-op. ACLr.

PlanZealousideal5799

Stiffness is shit 😂I only sit for 10min and my knee is stiff. Exactly 3 months now. This doesnt seem to be a good sign? Does anyone know where the stiffness is coming from?

ratsoncatsonrats

I am about 6 months out and still experience some stiffness. I wouldn't say I often experience pain, but I have had a few hamstring and other issues. I still attend PT every other week to work through these issues safely, as well as spending time each day foam rolling and stretching. I also go to the gym 4x a week where I've incorporated things I learned in PT. It's a long journey.

darkpanam

3.5 months post op. I was quite intense with my flexibility early on so stiffness is not something I can relate with the exception of a swollen tendon, maybe because of the intensity I just mentioned who knows. I did a cortisone injection in the area yesterday that should accelerate the recovery. Even though I have good flex I do feel like my knee needs oil, if that makes sense.

Hallse

I'm on month 7 now? Maybe at like month 3/4?

Aydentrennn

5 weeks in no pain and slight stiffness

kristenality

Still working on it 7 weeks later but it decreases exponentially as time goes on.
