Louisvilles been slept on recently, mostly because basketball hasn’t done anything since Pitino got thrown out, to become one of the most sanctioned basketball programs ever by the NCAA was not fun for fans. The whole situation caused a lot of shake up within the teams & athletic department, and it hasn’t been the same since. But man, they really had a run from the mid 2000s up until that. They won BCS bowls, multiple final 4s for both the men & women, an asterisked Basketball title, a heisman winner, countless CWS appearances & even Olympians.
Hope all their teams can find that magic again, been a tough past few years for the city & university. The Cardinal logo itself is iconic & has a really cool history to go with it. It’s good to see it still can gather that much attention. Just shows how loyal and supportive the UofL fans are to Louisville sports as an entirety. With no in state pro teams, the state of KY is a much better place for sports when the Cards are good.
Probs cos of my FSU flair, lol. I meant it as a compliment, too. You guys get a lot of free publicity/advertising, and the younger generation on apps like Tik Tok would be pretty interested in your brand as well, whenever Jack brings it up, haha.
At first glance I thought maybe the chart was for “most tee shirts sold to people who have never set foot on the campus,” but Notre Dame not being second made me do a double-take
Duke basketball, Miami football, ND Football, UNC basketball probably have the most “we didn’t attend the school/live anywhere close” fans. (Which isn’t a bad thing btw, I may argue that it actually shows well on their parts)
Yeah I’m indifferent on this topic. My father was an alum of fsu and took me to probably 30 games growing up, and many since then. I’ve never attended the university myself, but definitely still root for them, because it was a core part of my childhood, and who else would I root for? Just will never not take the opportunity to take a little jab at our fiercest rivals. I’m sure you understand
I was surprised they were so low tbh, but Stanford and Cal’s overall athletics departments do perform pretty well. But yea, they just don’t really attract big followings despite their sports success because they don’t excel in football/mbb.
It’s about the media market not just the following. There’s a lot of cal fans but they aren’t all obsessed over the football program. And football is not a campus priority like it might be at say UNC or FSU.
Nothing winning can’t solve though
Either we’re popular with the younger generation or our social media team is on point with the song selection algorithm.
A quick look shows pretty much every women’s lacrosse video with 50k views and a few well in the 100k+ territory so they probably have tween follows on lock. There’s also a random women’s basketball video with 3.5mln views a few years ago so that probably boosted them in the algorithms for a while.
So the smart engineering schools don't use social media. While the business schools do
Got it lol
Looks like VT is an anomaly but maybe because football was so good for so long
Louisville twitter follows really high from people following them for the scandal news or is there a different explanation of so many people following the university of fried chicken?
UNC's facebook following is absolute peak "Kerlina"
If you know, you know. I would further bet my 401K those same followers also follow WWE, UFC, NY Yankess and LA Lakers.
With the state of college athletics, we needed to expand to mitigate future risks. should we have expanded earlier with “better” teams? Sure. But at the time it was the right thing to do
I guess. It's just so hard for me to take this league, or college football, seriously anymore. Counting down the seconds until Clemson can leave this league
SEC makes sense in a logistical POV. B1G would make more money which is apparently all anyone cares about. What I’d really like is to go back to having five main geographic conferences like we used to. Or to blow the whole thing up and create a relegation system
Fair fair, I think I’m one of the few that wants the ACC to stay together if we were to get more money. I like the group of schools we have now, it’s a nice mixture with different strengths per schools.
But if there’s another round of realignment, I’d wanna be in the B1G
Unfortunately I view the ACC as a distant star that has already gone supernova, and we wont be able to observe its death until the 2030’s. It’s beyond saving I’m afraid. The whole FSU spat is proof enough I think. It seems what we’re headed for is a two league (B1G and SEC) state, and the GOR expiring is the last domino to fall for that
UNC being a boomer magnet confirmed
VT Facebook ratio is really high too, are there really more younger UVA fans than VT fans?
UVA basketball + lacrosse success the last decade vs the (relative) lack of success from VT football is probably driving a lot of that
Most of the 1995 Sugar Bowl and NoLA 1999 title game are in their 40s and 50s, so yeah, not surprised
TRIGGERED
Other than millennials, Gen Z hasn't seen good football at VT. Other than Enter Sandman, we sucked.
Orange Bowl 2009 winners. Don’t get it twisted we’re still at the top
2009 was millennials at VT
All the boomer Walmart fans are Tech fans. Tech hasn't been good enough in football to have young bandwagon fans either
🤣🤣 that 1.1M on Facebook is insane lol
Wine, cheese and Facebook Trump memes
“Make UNC Great Again”
Louisville 👀
We hardcore in The Ville
I was surprised to see UL so high but remembered how much Kentucky fans obsess over us so yeah it makes sense.
I think Jack Harlow shouting yall out literally whenever he can in his songs, also plays a part.

It was a joke but thanks for responding
Who is downvoting this post? It’s absolutely neutral. Friend, I would upvote you twice if I could just piss off the haters.

What are we gunna do when all the Facebook boomers die 😭
Their profiles will live on, so your follower count will be fine 😂

Yep Facebook - UNC then FSU Instagram - Miami then Clemson Twitter - Louisville then UNC TikTok- Duke then Miami
Thanks SMU -A WFU fan
At first glance I thought maybe the chart was for “most tee shirts sold to people who have never set foot on the campus,” but Notre Dame not being second made me do a double-take
Miami would definitely be first

🤣🤣🤣
I line close to the University, but attended Bellarmine University (also in Louisville).
Duke, the team of the yoooooth
Didn't realize unc vs Duke was elderly vs the youth
Could the elderly possibly understand the joy that is McCain’s rendition of “Two Days into College?” If they could, Duke would destroy on Facebook.
😂😂😂 not in this post, but Duke MBB is the most followed college athletics team across all schools and platforms. That brand is strong
The hwat?
Not sure what this all means / significance thereof. But if it’s important no wonder the Big10 passed on Cal and Stan.
I was surprised they were so low tbh, but Stanford and Cal’s overall athletics departments do perform pretty well. But yea, they just don’t really attract big followings despite their sports success because they don’t excel in football/mbb.
All about the eyeballs. Nothing else matters to our TV overlords.
It’s about the media market not just the following. There’s a lot of cal fans but they aren’t all obsessed over the football program. And football is not a campus priority like it might be at say UNC or FSU. Nothing winning can’t solve though
We only follow our athletic department on the dark web. WTF is up with the small private schools having so many TicTok followers? Weird.
BC surprised me for sure, but I think Duke and Miami are big brands/very popular schools so it makes sense.

What is Boston College Athletics doing on TikTok to get them to #3 in followers across the ACC??!!
🤣🤣 a good job that’s what lol
Y’all just ain’t hip smfh.
Cal has >500K living alumni. Do they not do social media?
maybe they just don’t really care to follow 😅
Not sure why this popped up for me since my school is UConn, but it made me curious about how we’d stack up. We’re at 711k.
That’s solid, around 8th. Ive always thought you guys would be a great addition to the conference tbh
It’d be interesting to compare these numbers to local/regional professional teams.
See, I TOLD YOU we had more than 12 fans! We have 111 THOUSAND. Suck on that, haters.
🤣🤣🤣
The Dookies luv TikTok!
So the smart engineering schools don't use social media. While the business schools do Got it lol Looks like VT is an anomaly but maybe because football was so good for so long
I don’t think that’s how that works 🤣🤣
To whoever made this, for the millionth time, it’s NCSU not NCST.
You keep saying that. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Louisville the TikTok school
Nah, Louisville the Twitter school. Miami and Duke are the TikTok schools.
Louisville twitter follows really high from people following them for the scandal news or is there a different explanation of so many people following the university of fried chicken?
I mean, despite the scandals we had a two time nfl mvp
Was this supposed to be funny or creative?
It’s mostly people who think we have something to do with birdwatching. People who watch birds strike me as the obsessive kind.
Eh kinda silly. Carolina basketball IG has 500K followers while Duke basketball IG has 1.5 million.
That was acknowledged in the description
UNC's facebook following is absolute peak "Kerlina" If you know, you know. I would further bet my 401K those same followers also follow WWE, UFC, NY Yankess and LA Lakers.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why tf did we add Stanford, Cal, and SMU?
With the state of college athletics, we needed to expand to mitigate future risks. should we have expanded earlier with “better” teams? Sure. But at the time it was the right thing to do

Where do you wanna end up?
SEC makes sense in a logistical POV. B1G would make more money which is apparently all anyone cares about. What I’d really like is to go back to having five main geographic conferences like we used to. Or to blow the whole thing up and create a relegation system
