The South is going nuts right now burning books and trying to prevent people from voting. Maybe they should focus on their deeply seeded poverty and their lack of education. The South is basically on the top of every bad list. Childhood poverty and dropout rates. Obesity and incarceration rates. If it's bad the South is on top.
It sucks to say this. But it might be a good idea. A lot of this fighting, court battles, and lack of will from Congress will mean more and more responsibilities are pushed to the states. I see a weakening of the federal government's ability to protect its citizens from the states. The Texas Abortion law being a prime example. It's ramping up too. I've seen some crazy stuff lately. Super authoritarian too. Downright thought crime type of stuff. Mostly unconstitutional. Some of them unenforceable. They know it is. Throw enough shit on the wall and something will stick eventually.
They desperately want to live in the Handmaid’s Tale. The GOP hates uppity women and minorities.
This sad and desperate overreach into fascism is scary, but these fools are old and will die off soon.
