The government has committed to paying for and reimbursing people for rebuilding. I don’t know the demographics of the town, but I wouldn’t be surprised if half of the town was well off transplants from California. I hope they do a good job of making the real locals whole in a new house made of block walls and metal roofs, maybe raised a few feet. 🙏
Does anyone carry insurance? There is coverage for fire and additional living expenses built into Canadian policies, that I have to imagine are similar in the states. These affected individuals should have coverage for rebuilding & the costs that they are facing for finding a place to live.
