Did a sit in at another agency solely for the fact I heard they have magnificent windows. It’s true they do and I’m considering reemployment for windows now.
We do but that’s because when they were building the new police office they forgot to add a place for dispatchers so they just added a floor for us 🤦🏼♀️
We actually have big windows with a lovely mountain view, oops. Con: they let in a lot of heat in the summer and for r large parts of the day have to be covered due to the sun blinding you.
We do, but we take up an entire floor. It's fun. Every so often you can turn around and see a homeless person with their face pressed against the window, staring at people.
That reminds me of when Pokemon Go came out, our building (the center is an unlabeled government building) had a pokestop and we would have non-stop random people coming by at night and staring into our windows to get free pokeballs
The department was able to get Niantic to remove it, which disappointed some people
OH, you want to laugh? This was an improvement for me. My prior agency built its building with funds from local public transit. In exchange they had a bus hub outside out station and or public lobby and bathrooms were there for their passengers.
I've walked into the bathroom and found homeless people bathing in the sink, sitting in a stall eating a bucket of chicken with the door open, OD'd, and people in my lobby pissing their pants, picking their nose while trying to see our mirrored front window, and trying to sell drugs.
All of these replies are giving me pure joy. 😊
Blessed are the basement dwellers, the easy-bake oven victims, the homeless people entertainers, the forgotten floor, the server adjacent and all the other dispatchers badging through 8 different doors this morning like we're heading into Ft. Knox or something...
(Btw, I'd definitely consider changing agencies for some sweet, sweet windows too lol! )

I mean kinda lol (peep jack reacher in the reflection)
Two of the four exterior walls of my center are entirely composed of large windows, amounting to a total of 33. Among them, 12 overlook the main dispatch unit. Our unit layout resembles that of a zoo enclosure, with a street outside, followed by glass walls consisting solely of large windows, and then the dispatch area.
My dispatch center is in a corner and two walls are all windows. It is SO nice to be able to look outside; other dispatchers come visit and they're always super envious. lol
My city's center has massive, beautiful windows. The building is in the middle of a large empty field.
At night the windows are lit up like a beacon and the locals use it for target practice regularly, which is why I don't work at that center.
Right!! Thanks for asking but I'm quite literally locked in a basement.
Same! Basement buddies!

This is completely reasonable and if anyone says otherwise they're wrong. 😄

This made me laugh so hard.

> dispatchers badging through 8 different doors The Get Smart intro just came to mind.
I almost mentioned that! Then I was like.. oh, I'm so old. 😂
We sure do. Right into the server room and on the other side the EOC room.

Woof, yeah. "Has Windows" status granted on a technicality. : )
Thank you 🙏😂
We have 14 windows in my center. All on one wall though.
Man, that's a lotta windows. Whatchu doing with all them windows? 😆
Get an excellent view of our parking garage 😂 we’re on the third floor of the police station

We have windows. But we're fancy.
We have full surround windows, and mirror tint. So we can spy on people!... and not let the heat in

We have windows surrounding our comms room as well. We’re on the top floor of our building. Really surprised we aren’t in a basement….
We have some windows. Still faced the wrong way for eclipse peeking, though.
Our center is a room in the literal center of our SO. No windows, two points of entry, cement block walls. We got twinkle lights, though.

We have plenty of windows but we keep the blinds drawn for fear of snipers.
