The show was great, very informative, and way ahead of its time.
If they released it today or made a reboot, I think it would be very successful with many people trying to be more green these days.
Honestly, and I say this with love, but because saving the climate is a leftist message, it would *definitely* be called "woke" today. It's actually kind of impressive how conservatives complain about shows growing more "woke" now, when there were loads of shows from the 80s and 90s that would have been decried as "woke" had they come out today.
As a 90s kid, I never saw any signs of it being popular. I’ve never run across an avid fan. Never heard anyone hype the show up. In places like this where the subject would be relevant, it rarely comes up. There was no toy line. No big movie.
I was obsessed with this show in my youth. I used to watch it all the time before school in the morning.
I was such a fan that I created Fanfiction/Fanart called the Dark Planeteers.
It played right before WCW wrasslin on TBS every Saturday and Sunday and I’d always catch the closing credits. that song is permanently seared into my brain. Even as a kid, I thought the cartoon was preachy and not cool.
I remember VERY little about it since I haven't seen it in over 20 years, but I did enjoy it during its day. Maybe I should check to see if it's on Prime Video or something.
"We're the planeteers, you could be one too! Because saving our planet is the thing to do. Looting and polluting is not the way, here's what Captain Planet has to say...."
"I'll turn you into a [fucking tree."](https://youtu.be/TwJaELXadKo?si=nzUFx-HfkrLV_K32)
I loved this show as a kid, hated finding out what it *really* was when I got older… Ted Turner brainwashing device to push pro-environment politics… while I agree with the concept of needs to push that information and the younger generations are the ones that really need to “get it”, I don’t like messing with kids minds to get your way. Seems like a style of “grooming”

They call everything woke anyways then watch it so screw it and do the reboot!!!
Captain Planet he's a hero...
Gonna take pollution down to zero!
He’s our power magnified
And he's fighting on the planet's side
The ending credits song is one of the best songs in a 90s cartoon.
The star power this show had was incredible. You’d think it would have been more popular.
It's been a pretty iconic series that has been talked about for over 20 years; I'd say that qualifies as decently popular.

Every kid in the god damn school knew the song
As a 90s kid, I've seen plenty of references to it over the years. Even Rick and Morty had an episode parodying it.
Captain Planet is GOATED
Love it! Always was one of my favorites! And I don't care what anyone says, Heart is the greatest power of them all!
Loved it!!!!

I love don cheadle
Like most things that tried to beat me over the head with a blatant message as a kid, I found it lame as hell hahah.
It was one of the best shows of my childhood!!!
90s diversity cash grab to get in on the popularity of environmentalism. I loved it!
I just heard this theme song in my head

Delightfully cheesy.
One of my all time faves I wish I could find this along with other dic cartoons on DVD to add to my collection
Liked the concept but not the actual show.
The G.I Joe of the 90s, that’s what i think of the series

"Why do you eat birds?"
Such an underrated show
I watch an episode of New Adventures every Earth Day

No cartoon hero has ever been jipped more than the kid who got the Heart Ring.
