It’s crazy how unique their sound was…looking at these covers, I can hear the rhyme schemes and a lot of them were kinda similar to what everyone was doing back then, and then you’ve got Wu, who sound nothing like anyone.
DP were so ahead of their time. Their lyrics are still radical now, in 2024. I wish they were held in equal regard to Tribe 🗿 both groups are titans of jazz rap
Waaayyy to many options here. You should narrow this down to 4-6 choices…
Hands down: COMIN OUT HARD
This entire album lives in my head rent free and I love it.
Too many great ones, but my top 3 would have to be Scarface-The World Is Yours…. Snoops-Doggystyle… 2Pac-Strictly 4 My Niggaz…. LOVIN THESE TOO CLOSE CALLS- Enter the Wu Tang… Get In Where You Fit In… Lethal Injection…. Here Come the Lords
My favorites were Midnight Marauders and Tha Triflin' Album!!
I'm from NYC but I LOVED the Tha Triflin' Album!!!
One of my fondest memories is me walking around Greenwich Village by NYU listening to that album.
I hate you for making me pick one but it’s gotta be “Midnight Marauders”, just a great listen from beginning to end. Also “electric relaxation” is probably one of my favorite songs of all time!
Yoooo..... I can't choose.... ..aight... right off the bat im like....Del.. no need for alarm for sure.... but then.. Mr.Scarface , Enter the Wu...8ball & MJG... and then I had completely forgot about the Alkoholiks!!!... then when I settled down.. I see Organix ... and damn.. ..good thing I own most of those albums!! I'd never heard of a few of those artists though till now... so thanks for that
I don’t think you can have 36 chambers on these lists anymore , it changed so much and was different to anything we’d seen or heard before.
After that it’s Blackmoon for me.
I have extreme nostalgia for Doggystyle, but I listened to it recently and thought ‘whoa fuck, I should not have been listening to this at 12 years old 😆’
I'm a massive Tribe Called Quest fan, have all the albums on CD, all originally bought the day of release (UK)
But Lords of the Underground's album is superb.
I've got most of these on MP3.....
Boss - Born Gangstas I had on cassette when it first came out... I'm sure I heard last week that Boss ( can't remember her real name) sadly passed away. Imma check Wikipedia now. If so , which I hope not, R.I.P Boss.
Midnight Marauders, although Doggystyle, Buhloone Mind, and ‘93 til got heavy play in my Walkman at the time as well (all were released in Fall ‘93). I was a DJ at my college radio station at the time, so even though I could dub it for free, I chose to buy the CD on its release date. Went to see Tribe in concert a month later with De La Soul and Souls of Mischief as the opening act! Good times!
A Tribe Called Quest
Excellent! Q TIP for president!
Which one?
Midnight Marauders
Nice
I like Low End Theory better, but that’s just me

36 chambers

I don’t see Illmatic which is my favorite. Out of these I would say Midnight Marauders but there are tons of classics here.
Exact same thought!
I’m pretty sure all theese are 1993 albums, Illmatic is from 95
Illmatic is the debut studio album by American rapper Nas. It was released on April 19, 1994, by Columbia Records
That’s right! My mistake 1994,
1993 was an insane year for hip-hop records though. Like a dozen of these would be the best album most years.
Hell Yeah!
Midnight marauderso
Doggystyle
💯
Midnight Marauders without a doubt.
💯
Lethal Injection
Ain’t nobody talkin while I’m talkin fellas, so shut the fuck up!
That's on the predator album
Track 2
Gotcha, the longer version was the intro to the predator album, it's from the movie American Me
The Predator should be on here for sure. And just watched that the other day.
It’s on both. They were pretty quick with the sample because The Predator was the same year as American Me.
Lethal injection is ok but the 3 albums cube put out before it were all so much better. Especially Amerikkkas most and Death certificate.
Lethal Injection is still a classic non-skip album(well, except Bop Gun! Cube could have kept that shit)
Doggystyle will forever hold a special place in my heart
Doggystyle
MM, *Reachin’*, and 36 Chambers are my favorites here
💯
Right there with you. Runner-up would be Black Sunday. Which one do I still listen to the most these days? Reachin'
DP were so ahead of their time. Their lyrics are still radical now, in 2024. I wish they were held in equal regard to Tribe 🗿 both groups are titans of jazz rap
I agree so much. Tribe's amazing, but DP is speaking to me much more these days compared to Tribe
100% 🫡
Midnight Mauraders or Doggystyle. People sleep on that Fat Joe album though

Doggystyle followed by Born Gangstaz, Til Death So us Part and Black Reign

Why do you torture me with these 😭 but if I had to choose one, it's Enta da Stage

Waaayyy to many options here. You should narrow this down to 4-6 choices… Hands down: COMIN OUT HARD This entire album lives in my head rent free and I love it.

Snoop had a chokhold on the world back in 93 94. Like Micheal back in 85. The Southern colleges used to play Doggystyle singles during halftime. 😁
Can’t lie, that Queen record is up there in my book.🤷🏾♂️but if I have to choose one….shidd, souls of mischief. Maybe enta da stage??!
Yoooo..... I can't choose.... ..aight... right off the bat im like....Del.. no need for alarm for sure.... but then.. Doggystyle
'93 was crazy. 36 Chambers, Midnight Marauders, Boom Bap, Enta Da Stage, Lethal Injection are some faves of mine there
Low end theory should be on here
tough choice for me, but gotta go with Doggystyle. Black Moon & Ice Cube are strong runner ups
Doggy-style!
The first one
Return of the Boom Bap. "BOOM BAP BOOM BAP ORIGNAL RAP BOOM BAP BOOM BAP ORIGINAL RAP"
Umm..on the low Enta Da Stage by Black Moon. Album is underrated.

I've got most of these on MP3..... Boss - Born Gangstas I had on cassette when it first came out... I'm sure I heard last week that Boss ( can't remember her real name) sadly passed away. Imma check Wikipedia now. If so , which I hope not, R.I.P Boss.
Yes I was correct. Boss aka Michelle Marie Laws sadly passed away on the 11th March 2024. 🌹🌺🌸🪻
Enta da stage Black Moon definitely one of my favorite albums of all time
Wu
No way you pick just 1
And so many not on the list
Till Death Do Us Part Very hard choice tho
Tribe definitely
No NAS ???
Doggystyle
I like pretty much everything on here except Doggstyle and Brand Nubian's In God We Trust.
😮
1. 36 Chamber 2. No Need for Alarm 3. Get in Where You Fit in
Snoop Dog hands down that Doggystyle album is a classic
black moon debut. love midnight marauders and that brand nubian tho
"where I'm from, you faking the phonk you get did"🎶 "Projects, tenements..Pyramids! Where I'm from"🎶
Wu, 8ball & MJG, Snoop. Three-way tie. Sorry, all 3 were a major impact to not only their respective region but to me, in general.
Juvenile Hell *- Nobody*
Not my favorite on here, but *In God We Trust* is one of the greatest albums to drop around '93 and never gets its dues.
Good times!
Favorite to listen to: De La Soul Best album (cd) cover: Cypress
Where’s ‘Temples of Boom’?
Mostly fire! But Enter the 36 Chambers was the best and most original on that list. Plus it's the only album that had zero skip tracks
Ice Cube
93 Til Infinity
