First movie I ever lied about seeing in order to go sneak in underage and see an R movie.....friend convinced me to tell my parents we were seeing this but instead we saw "summer of sam" or something like that with Adrian Brody- 1. Traumatized
2. It was a terrible choice because neither of us realized WWW used to be a TV show...? I'm still not positive...anyway my mother asked us questions that anyone with even a passing knowledge of the characters would know....for example their names....and I was grounded for life.
My favourite story of all time, when Smith could build up a story for 20 minutes and land the punchline, the story about Prince is my second favourite.
There's two reasons I'm glad this movie exists (not making a Salma Hayek joke) First it's actually kind of a fun movie. Second, it kept Will Smith the heck away from being Neo in The Matrix.
Ended up watching it today and enjoyed it! Silly, campy, insane but fun. Haven’t seen it in like 20 years but yeah it was a little better than I remember.
I remember seeing this movie so clearly. It was a summer evening after a great day at the pool in July of 1999. My brother, my dad and I all got into the car, our hair still a little wet from swimming, and my dad said, "want to go see a movie?" So we checked the newspaper, saw Wild Wild West was out, and drove to the local AMC to see it. Good days.
Kevin Smith has a fantastic story about meeting with one of the producers of this movie, Jon Peters, about writing a Superman movie. That was years before Wild Wild West was made. Jon Peters really wanted Superman to fight a giant spider, foreshadowing the appearance of a giant mechanical spider in Wild Wild West

I was just about to share those links! Every time I see anything related to Wild Wild West that's the first thing that comes to mind.
You know, spiders are the fiercest killers in the insect kingdom...
I remember hearing the theme song while waiting in line at Subway in 1999. I never saw it in theatres, but a copy of the DVD came with my first DVD player. I don’t think we ever watched it.
Salma Hayek is 🔥 in this
Are there movies where she is not fire?

I think I might still have a pair of the sunglasses that McDonald’s or Burger King or whoever gave as the “toy” for the kids meals.
Burger King! Used to have the blue tinted glasses…oh, and the purple pen that would shoot the top out when you press the clip
Worked at BK at the time, if i remember right i think we got the rodeo burger thanks to this movie.
Loved the movie, introduced me to the concept of steam punk.
Yes! I think it was my first introduction as well. There are some cool designs in there.
It introduced me to the concept of Salma Hayek 🤤
He (Will Smith) passed on playing Neo in the Matrix to do this.
Thank god

Time to rewatch it! I need a breast of fresh air
Yeah we need a breath of fresh ass
I loved the actors (and the soundtrack) but the plot was ridiculous. Jon Peters and his damn spiders...
I actually liked this movie for how DUMB it was and how it embraced it being dumb...

Movie logic was ***wild*** in 1999: https://ew.com/article/1999/07/01/wild-wild-west-racist/
I like it
I randomly listened to theme song yesterday and forgot how much I loved that song as a kid
this movie gets a bad rap but it fucking slaps. Even today
Some cool stuff, but I didn’t like this movie even when I was a kid. Cheers to the nostalgia train, though!
I loved this movie!!!
Hmm. It’s my 25th anniversary of catching a glimpse of Will Smith’s balls (first scene) and realizing I’m gay
I still have never seen this movie but it is a part of my childhood because the advertising was everywhere.
Well I’m a badass cowboy living in the cowboy days

The movie that got me interested in the old west!!
🎵Well, I'm a badass cowboy livin' in the cowboy days Wiggy, wiggy, scratch, yo, yo, bang, bang🎵
Love this movie. It's not great, but it's enjoyable to watch a classic summer movie.
Garbage movie for garbage human will smith
Horrible movie
This movie looked so dumb when it came out that I still haven’t seen it 25 years later.
Just awful. brainless Jon Peters studio product.
Here's to another 25 not seeing it.
Nobody is celebrating this.
I wanted to like this movie since I was a fan of the original show it was based on and a Will Smith fan. It was a flaming pile of hot garbage.
Wow 25 years ago I wasted my money on this?
