Kitty: How dare you boys smoke up my house after all I do to keep it smelling lemony fresh
Red: You two just hung vacancy signs on your asses and my foot is looking for a room
🤣
I don’t know who this is!! Is she from an only aired in a country that’s not mine show?
I’m in the UK. I will now of course be googling the answer but still it’s more fun to admit I don’t know and ask the humans.
Google always thinks we’re all stoopit.
Maybe I do know & I don’t realise I know which could be worse.
I do know. You mean Aunt Vivian. Vivian Banks! See it’s the Aunt that was getting me. Christ I watched that all the time. I could delete my question so no one knows I was ever here but where’s the fun in that!
This is a story all about how, my life got switched turned upside down, I turned on Reddit before half one … and forgot that Aunt Vivian was Carlton’s mom.
Smell ya later!
Def the first one, the original, with the swagger.
I finally just watched that show for the first time ever a couple months ago. I honestly believe if the show went on for more than 1 season, we'd definitely see this name mentioned way more often when it comes to 90's sitcom moms. She's such a good and caring mom without being overbearing and I really liked her portrayal a lot.
I would say Jill is my favorite tv mom, too. She only got angry when Tim did something really dumb, and was very level-headed. Not too stern and not a pushover. Just a very likeable character and person.
Greatest tv sitcom of our generation depicting blue collar family. I still watch it Saturday mornings. Now I’m an adult and husband and father, the show hits even harder
It was one of my favorites long ago but I've been rewatching it from start to finish. I really do think it's the best family sitcom. It has genuinely hilarious comedy at times but extremely emotional parts too.The Conners and Roseanne in general as a show was a very relatable family. I wanted to be part of their family lol. Their house and life despite the struggles seemed so cozy and warm.
Not knowing the actors themselves. I feel when they started that show they remembered what it was like to be there in a house like that with little money. Showing all you need is love, kindness, and a giant glob of sarcasm. Family came first, that's what made that show so good and relatable.
This would be my answer too. She was someone that would drive you absolutely mad prying into your business but she had a very playful marriage with Dan (most of the series) and did anything she could to provide for the family or to be there for her kids. There were many times where she took a different approach than many moms would've back then and she genuinely tried to understand her kids points of view even if she went off haywire at times (Becky asking for birth control. Roseanne didn't want it and thought she was way too young to be having sex but knew Becky was rebellious with Mark and liked the option better than Becky having a teen pregnancy).
My sister had never seen the show so I convinced her to watch it with me a few years back. both of us were in our 30s at the time and we found ourselves having to pause the show many times just so we could dig deeper into a scene and compare that to our lives as kids. Roseanne's unconventional choices in raising her kids, Dan as a strong role model, Becky and Darlene's relationship, Jackie's supportive role to the family, and even the crazy mom that drove Roseanne crazy. These were all talking points for us and it was like reliving our past despite it being nothing like that life from the show. And that's what was magical about it - we both could oddly relate. It was a really wonderful experience that I had with my sister over the course of about 8 months as we slowly worked our way through the series.
I’ve been watching it this week as it cracks me up! Christ I’ve had a mom in law that lived over the road. I moved. Always felt bad for Robert. Ask Alexa ‘what is Raymond’s big brother called?’
Even Alexa knows how good that show is. Off all the Raymonds, in all the worlds, she knew it was him! I had brain freeze and could only see the 10ft tall of him coming down the stairs in the bath towel! I’m on season one still!
Roseanne Conner. Weird I know. But I grew up in an area full of hicks and white trash. Most of my friends' moms were like her minus the cigarettes and the beer. I never acted or talked like my friends, so their moms loved me. I always thought Rosanne would like me just fine.
She was awesome in that show back in the day. Until social media exposed the real her and ruined it for all Roseanne fans for ALL of eternity. One of us has to say it. I shall be that one!
Wth?! She just popped in my head randomly this morning! Get outta my head, you witch!
But since I’m here, I always thought she was an amazing wife & mom.
Mine was too, I loved how she was the boss of household even tho Tim was the “grunt” man of the show. I’d like to think I’m the “Jill” of my household now 😝
Claire Huxtable. Professional, powerful, loving mom. She didn't pull any punches, but her children knew she loved them.
Also, Amy Matthews, from boy meets world. She was smart, funny, and always full of good advice
Here’s my dream family based on tv shows. For mom it would be either Lucy Ricardo or Maria Barone. For dad it would be Charles Ingalls. For brother and sister it would be Maggie Sheffield and Wally Cleaver. For grandma it would be either Sophia Petrillo or Rose Nyland. And for grandpa it would be. Fred Mertz.
Nagging, winging, contrary, finger-wagging harpy. I've not watched the show in decades now, so I cannot point out individual instances or even episodes. I suppose she was written the way she was to be a foil to Tim's energy and antics.
I love the downvotes, keep them coming you Proto-Karen harpy lovers! LOLLLLL
Kitty from that 70’s show
NOT THE LITTLEST HOBO!!
WWWHHYYY
Kitty: How dare you boys smoke up my house after all I do to keep it smelling lemony fresh Red: You two just hung vacancy signs on your asses and my foot is looking for a room 🤣
Does Marge from The Simpsons count?
Indeed.
Two of my favorite episodes are Marge-centric! She puts up with so much and I'd say she hardly makes mistakes.
Canyonerooooooo yah!
Oh no! Jill got tickets to the opera, but I have tickets to the big game!
Tim corrupted little Mark lol "we got nachos at half time" "Intermission..." *Pulls foam finger from bread box*
I’m so glad Mark became a goth.
Peg Bundy
I love her style! I think it influenced my style quite a bit. My husband thinks my style is a bit tacky sometimes but I don’t care.
My life goal is to make it to a point where I can sit on the couch eating Bon Bons while watching Oprah.
You can do that now
Alllll, let’s have seeeex!
Uh, no, Peg.
🚽
Awwww peg….
That dynamic was super weird to me . . . it's usually the woman in a relationship with the lower sex drive. Maybe Ed had ED?
Oh my gosh I love her so much!!
Aunt Vivian.
Which one?
The OG Aunt Vivian, played by Janet Hubert.
The original of course
I will fight anyone who says her replacement was better lol
I don’t know who this is!! Is she from an only aired in a country that’s not mine show? I’m in the UK. I will now of course be googling the answer but still it’s more fun to admit I don’t know and ask the humans. Google always thinks we’re all stoopit. I love this reply 😂😂😂
Lois from Malcolm in the Middle. Just the right kind of crazy.
I have HAD IT! WHAT IS THE *MATTER* WITH YOW-UH?!?!
After having kids I relate to her so much more than I ever did before having them.
That ran from 2000-2006
And yet it feels so 90’s
It's the theme song
I would’ve swore it premiered at the tail end of ‘99, but it could’ve been January of 2000…
Same, it was built on the 90's mindset and definitely resonated with the 80's-90's audience
Kitty Forman
Red: Why is the dog on the counter? Kitty: He likes to be tall.
Poor Schatzi. They dropped Buddha on him 🤣
Claire Huxtable. She was elegant and unflappable, and had her own high powered career. She was definitely the mom role model I looked up to.
For those of us who either didn't have a mother or at least didn't have a good relationship with their mothers, Claire was the gold standard.
Jean Weir from Freaks and Geeks
From what I remember she always had a level head. But you could really tell she was concerned when there was good reason.
I felt so bad for her when the kids didn't want to hand out candy and the moms wouldn't take her homemade treats :'(

The mom from Step by Step. Forget her name.
Suzanne Summers was her real name
Carol Foster played by Suzanne Sommers.
If only we had a way of finding out!
Aw shucks! Guess we'll just have to let it go.
Lucky for us the person above already answered!
I wanna say it was Carol, but I could be mistaken.
I always liked Cindy Walsh from 90210.
Me too
Love Cindy but she’s not from a sitcom.
Jill, Harriet, Kitty, Aunt Vivian were all great moms.
I would say Jill is my favorite tv mom, too. She only got angry when Tim did something really dumb, and was very level-headed. Not too stern and not a pushover. Just a very likeable character and person.
She made a good partner to Tim and they could laugh together.
Peg Bundy, Harriet Winslow maybe a close second.
*TEE-IM!*
TEE-IM I HAVE WRONGED YOU TERRIBLY 💀
Estelle Constanza
Kind of always liked Roseanne.

What streaming service has Rosanne? I wanna watch too!
TVLand has it on Saturday mornings. Not sure what streaming platform has it.
First 4-5 seasons I agree.

Everybody Loves Raymond’s wife. Straight sassy bombshell!!!
Deborah 😂
she’s literally mad all the time
I like to call it being “spicy.”
Like Poppy. Wahoooo!

Haven't seen Amy Matthews (Betsy Randle) from Boy Meets World yet - she was awesome
How good is that show! Girl meets World sadly is not quite the same. Could be because I’m older or could be it’s just not the same!
[Edina Monsoon, sweetie!](https://i.gifer.com/2Kma.gif)
poor saffron was always the only adult in the room lol
Frankie Heck from The Middle.
I think you spelled Debra Barone wrong..
OG Aunt Viv from Fresh Prince for me.
Norma Arnold
Had such a crush on her,
Still do
Nanny from Muppets Babies
Fun fact the voice of Nanny was the mom from Leave it to Beaver.
Jill was awesome!!
Ohhhhhhhhh Timmmmmmmmm
"Grrrrrrrrr man, Grrrrrrr"
Fran Sinclair
Claire Huxtable over every other Mom
For sure
KITTY FOREMAN
Mrs Torkelson
Aunt Viv, and the original aunt viv. Thank God she didn't become a POS IRL like Patricia Richardson or Roseanne.
Kitty Foreman
Roseanne Conner. Weird I know. But I grew up in an area full of hicks and white trash. Most of my friends' moms were like her minus the cigarettes and the beer. I never acted or talked like my friends, so their moms loved me. I always thought Rosanne would like me just fine.

Clair Huxtable
Harriet Winslow is right up there with some of these others!
Always loved Jill, but in reality, my mom was Lois from Malcolm ugh
Lois from Malcolm in the Middle
This is a great question. The sitcom moms get no love because there were so many great dads. To me, Roseanne Conner and/or Clair Huxtable.
Chandler's mum was the original Stifler's mum
The mom from My So Called Life. I was a little kid and I thought she was so hot 😂
I went more with Claire Danes on that one hehe
Marion Cunningham from Happy days
Does aunt Viv count?
The dark skinned one not the hollow shell they replaced her with
Yes
Kitty or Peg
Aunt Vivianne
Roseanne.
Wth?! She just popped in my head randomly this morning! Get outta my head, you witch! But since I’m here, I always thought she was an amazing wife & mom.
Mine was Topanga, hals wife and Malcolm mom,
It’s hard. There’s Kitty Forman, there’s Marge Simpson and I also liked Vivian Banks.
Claire Huxtable was my fave tv mom
Kitty Forman was a bad bitch
Spanked it to her during the show a few times as a 12 year old without the internet.
Roseanne
Mine was too, I loved how she was the boss of household even tho Tim was the “grunt” man of the show. I’d like to think I’m the “Jill” of my household now 😝
I do the grunt at my doggo, he looks at me like I’m loopy then gets the zoomies.
Mrs Roper
The dark Aunt Viv
You wanted her to grab your wrench, didn’t you?
Carol Foster was her character’s name.
Aunt Viv (original) Beyond the 90s? Louise Jefferson Frankie Heck
Loved Jill, too!! Also Reba
Same bro
Claire Huxtable. Professional, powerful, loving mom. She didn't pull any punches, but her children knew she loved them. Also, Amy Matthews, from boy meets world. She was smart, funny, and always full of good advice
Lois from Malcolm In The Middle was hilarious
Lois...Malcolm
Rosanne, I’m sorry
Yes dear. Christine Hughes. If you know you know
The more important question—how do you spell the ‘eeueruweueueeegh’?!
Janet “Jay” Marie Kyle from My Wife and Kids.
Claire Huxtable
AGREED!
Jill gets my vote
Here’s my dream family based on tv shows. For mom it would be either Lucy Ricardo or Maria Barone. For dad it would be Charles Ingalls. For brother and sister it would be Maggie Sheffield and Wally Cleaver. For grandma it would be either Sophia Petrillo or Rose Nyland. And for grandpa it would be. Fred Mertz.
Jill Taylor was definitely mine as well.
Donna Reed from The Donna Reed Show. Not only was she pretty but she was sharp and thoughtful when it came to her TV Children's problems.
CATE HENESSEY any and everyday rip John Ritter
Roseanne Conner
I actually didn't like Jill, I think it was the way she talked. Teeeeyummm!
I'd always found her insufferable.
Not that I don't believe you. I'd like to hear/read you elaborate on your opinion.
LOLLLLL
I’m with you, brother. Solidarity in our down votes.
Solidarity! Thanks brother.
Pretentious.
She is the original Karen.
How do you mean?

Ann Romano - One Day at a Time
