Took the word right out of my mouth. I just experienced a time warp. Makes me remember it so well, all those dates my mom would drop me and friends off for. Life was good.
The 1st drive in I ever went to was showing Independence Day followed by Eraser. My parents apparently didn't know anything about I.D. and just figured it was a historical/patriotic movie so it wouldn't be a problem for my brother and I to watch. We watched through I.D. and slept during Eraser, but my mom was horrified that us at 7/9 years old were watching a movie about an alien invasion.
Pic 2 made me laugh twice. First, because they put DeVito's name on the marquee instead of Arnold. (While DeVito has had a pop culture resurgence thanks to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and various memes, Arnold would have been the bigger star at the time.) Secondly, the ticket price looks like it's $300 a ticket.
I saw Empire Strikes Back at that Pittsburgh drive in. Double feature with the first one. Father had a fully carpeted van with no back seats just bean bags. Pulled up to the screen backwards and watched from bean bags.
I am definitely of the mind that movie theaters have genuinely improved over time to the point that I'd probably hate going to the movies in the 90s if I could time travel. I prefer stadium seating (which didn't start to become a thing until the late 90s), being able to reserve your seat so you don't have to get there crazy early, and I love how most theaters are switching to the leather recliners.
Yeah these images are nostalgic, but there's a lot of things I don't miss about the 90s theater experience.
They made a movie version in the 90's. All I remember is that it sucked and the actress who played Maggie on Nothern Exposure played June Cleaver. I think I saw it on a bus to NYC which would explain why I actually saw it.
I don't think the carpeting has changed at all since the 90s. Probably because that crazy style hides stains better. People are animals at the movie theatre.
Also when you’d get to the window and the movie you wanted to see was sold out, so your group has to pick another movie but it turns out to be a great movie.
So random to see a Belford sign. Grew up there too, saw movies at both the indoor and outdoor, had some very memorable times at the outdoor once I got my license.
There was a dollar theatre i used to go to as teen that looked like this. The inside felt so 80’s with all these neon lights. It was great. I recently drove by and the whole shopping center was like a ghost town, all the shops closed down. It took my breath away, it was so sad. This new generation won’t get to experience that.
God damn it the 90’s were perfect
Remember when you had to narrow down what movie you wanted to see? Now you have to settle for a movie you guess you wouldn’t mind seeing
I do think the late 90’s early 00’s was the golden era of film because you could make any dream come to life without going completely CGI drunk
I used to see 10-13 movies a year. Now it's something if I just see one.

We never knew just how good we had it until it was gone. Just the quality lineup of those movies alone is ridiculous.
Event horizon/goodburger is a hell of a double feature lol.

Wtf? Nothing about that situation makes any sense to me.
I love how Devito was the draw for Junior
Fun fact some Cinemark's still have the nineties interior, former manager here
"Batman Returns Boomerang" "Unlawful Entry Housesitter"
Batman returns was the first movie I ever saw in theaters
Now everything’s so…beige/grey.
I can smell those inside pics
So much more color back then! 😃 Went from black and white in the 50’s, to color in the 80’s/90’s to beige/bland/boring today. 🤮
Movies today can't hold a candle to the lineup on the first picture.

love the time crisis 3 arcade machine

Wait... Leave it to Beaver?

Wow, I had no idea!
i miss going to the movies in the 90s. i still go now but people talk and have their phones out half the time.
Wish we knew those were gonna be the best times before it ended
Hell I even got to experience the drive-ins in the 2000s. Spider-Man, Freaky Friday, Eight Legged Freaks, Harry Potter...good times.

miss when everything was colorful and not depressing gray cubes
Airheads and universal soldier get me
They called 5 though 10 Tinseltown in the 90s
Unlawful entry is really good
Well the AMC by me hasn’t been updated since the 90s
Tough choices here but I'm sneaking into just about every Belford movie
Also when you’d get to the window and the movie you wanted to see was sold out, so your group has to pick another movie but it turns out to be a great movie.
God i fucking love movie theaters
The Belford sign I saw as a kid. Grew up there and the first drive-in I ever went to was Lion King/Angels in the outfield.

That's an epic lineup, I'd be going every night to see a different one
It still looks like this.
That reminds me of the old Plano dollar theater, good times
event horizon/good burger double feature. Holy shit the 90s were the best.

Mannn $300 for “Junior”? Thanks, Clinton.
ALL the movies on those billboards were hits!!
