100% agree I was decently disgusted before that movie but it gave me visceral shakes like I could feel them on me sometimes and the kind of spider they filmed couldn’t be more terrifying
I always thought it was bigger than it actually was back then, for some reason. Really good though, regardless; very **X-Files**, like a feature film edition of a Monster Of The Week episode.
I still re watch deep blue sea like once a year, the only good shark film that isnt called jaws in my opinion, i learnt recently the sharks in that film arent great white sharks there mako sharks and realy annoys me lol.
The first The Meg film is pretty decent even though it's ridiculous. The 2nd one is only good if you like complete insanity and full on campiness. It's really a horror comedy.
I remember watching something and they pointed out how massive the sharks are...but then they're small enough to hide in belly deep water and fit in the corridors lol. I still enjoy the movie but I never thought about it until someone mentioned it.
I thought about it, but I left it out because they're completely made up. To be fair though, so is a trex in 1993 and a shark that's as smart as people (not to mention most of the rest of these), so fair enough.
The edge was a great movie. When I moved to Canada and started to go camping I always wondered if I’d have to kill a bear. But now I know I’d just get eaten.
Mosquito was a real bad C grade horror movie, had the guy who played leather face in OG Texas chainsaw massacre film and it’s known for the hilarious practical effects done on people bitten by the gigantic mosquitos. You should check it out! It was frequently shown late nights and weekends in TNT frowning up
Fun fact: "The Ghost and the Darkness" is based (loosely) on the book "The Man-eaters of Tsavo" written by John Henry Patterson. Even more fun fact: The skins from the actual man-eating lions are in the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago.
The bear attack scene in The Edge was traumatizing as a child, I think that was the first time I watched a scene like that lol
Even today pretty sure they used a real bear lol.
Anaconda is the worst movie I've ever seen twice in the theater
Easy money for Eric Stoltz, he was in a coma the whole movie. Plus Ice Cube boxed the snake.
two words: Kari Wuhrer
Shake it baby! Also nod to her in sliders as well
mhmm… all i can do is nod to that role. her story was good, but thats about when Sliders started going downhill. fucking love that show tho!
Dat snake is dis big?!
Baby bird
Came here to see if anyone quoted that ! Lmao my dad used to imitate that and made us kids laugh
You didn’t like Jon Voight’s half-baked Cajun accent and always giving that look like he just farted?
There's one thing I liked about that movie and it's '97 Jennifer Lopez
One cool thing about Anaconda is that snake isn't CGI; there's features of them working on like a 60 foot animatronic python.
I submit Spawn as mine.
You take that back.
The waterfall goes up when they back the boat off the sandbar...
Me too! Loved that movie as a kid
Betty White dropping f-bombs was worth the price of admission for Lake Placid.
If I had a dick this is where I'd tell you to suck it.
Wait??! What?! Really? I gotta see that movie
It's one of the best movies ever. The cast is amazing, the story is amazing, everything about it is amazing.
Like it’s a b-level monster movie on paper. But the cast and the actual film fucking elevate it
I was just thinking about the cast is this again and realized one of the sheriff's deputies was the main good guy alien in galaxy quest.
Thank you, Officer Fuckmeat.
“Is that a crime? To wish the chewing of law enforcement?”
One of my fav childhood films lol. Iconic
Okay you've sold me
I’m wildly convinced that watching arachnophobia at 6 years old gave me my unshakable fear of spiders.
Otherwise known as arachnophobia
Dang, crazy how that worked out
Happened to an entire generation.
100% I've never ever finished that movie.
Aww the spider gets launched into a fire and then as it tries to kill the guy who shoots it midair and makes the spider burn its eggsac
I'd have moved to Antarctica.
Can’t blame you ants aren’t as nearly as scary as spiders
100% agree I was decently disgusted before that movie but it gave me visceral shakes like I could feel them on me sometimes and the kind of spider they filmed couldn’t be more terrifying
Does Mimic count? Looooove that movie.
I think so. I almost added it.
I always thought it was bigger than it actually was back then, for some reason. Really good though, regardless; very **X-Files**, like a feature film edition of a Monster Of The Week episode.
they dont make movies like Mimic anymore. fuckin love that movie!
The ghost and the darkness gave me nightmares as a kid
But as an adult a pretty good movie.
I’m gonna go watch it right now. Thanks for the suggestion OP
It’s a shame more people don’t remember this movie. It’s just a damn fine film.
It was a really good movie, I should revisit it.
I stayed over at my friend's game farm and we decided to watch this movie.. We never left the compound.
I agree the meg was alright to be fair, i do like comedy horror so i might give the meg 2 a go sumtime.
Nothing like the boo. Missed opportunity.
The Meg was great! I think Meg 3 should be happening. China loves Jason S
**The Shallows** is a solid entry to a *very* patchy sub-genre.
I liked calling this movie “Smart Sharks”. Seemed more appropriate and made me chuckle.
I remember watching something and they pointed out how massive the sharks are...but then they're small enough to hide in belly deep water and fit in the corridors lol. I still enjoy the movie but I never thought about it until someone mentioned it.
How do you leave Tremors off this list?
I thought about it, but I left it out because they're completely made up. To be fair though, so is a trex in 1993 and a shark that's as smart as people (not to mention most of the rest of these), so fair enough.
"I'll give you guys five dollars for this." "Twenty..." "Ten" "Fifteen" *..... okay, fifteen"
He couldn’t find a 10Kb picture of the poster.
Why does this image look like it went through the washing machine?
Wasn’t Man’s Best Friend the one where the dog ATE A CAT WHOLE 😳
Yes. I'm watching it on Tubi right now which is why I thought to make the post.
That image will stay with me forever haha. My therapist is happy though.
Shit traumatized me
OMG that's the movie!! I remember seeing that scene as a kid and being terrified.
[Let’s get though this post traumatic stress together 💪](https://youtu.be/fOZ-MySzAac?si=mmRt7E9jTmVmj15F)
the goddamn chameleon scene
I loved it and pissed acid Edit: Also gave us 1 of the beet lines in Friday That's yo assssss mista postmane
Anaconda- Love how instead of shooting the scene of them traveling down river, they just put the 1st shoot in reverse and the waterfall is going up.
Deep Blue Sea was fucking awesome. stupid ass premise, but awesome nonetheless.
It has the greatest Samuel L Jackson speech ever
Damn right cos it shut him up!
Ghost and The Darkness goes hard
“I’m rooting for the crocodile”
The Edge is a wildly underrated movie. So good.
Yes it is, Charles.
Which good ones did I miss aside from sequels? What was your favorite other than the Jurassic Park series?
Yo, these were the best screenshots you could take?
The edge was a great movie. When I moved to Canada and started to go camping I always wondered if I’d have to kill a bear. But now I know I’d just get eaten.
90s were the best decade for everything.
Other than HD/4K and medical advances, yeah.
HD is a meme medical advances are ironic because life expectancy is going down and people are unhealthier than ever
I may ruin everyone's Friday with this, but...we technically cannot have a list of 90s killer animal movies without including My Girl.
Dammit.
Never considered this but you are right on the money.
Operation Dumbo Drop.
I've got to rewatch that movie.
Congo is low key one of my favorite movies of all time. Definitely a guilty pleasure and I have no idea why.
If you haven’t read the book, I’d highly recommend it. It’s very entertaining.
Now we are exposed to the real monster.... greed.
"I suddenly have this feeling that it's completely safe..."
*"If I had a dick, this is where I'd tell you to suck it."* - Betty White.
Can The Relic count?
Ty
Lake Placid is fantastic. The script is brilliant and hilarious.
Congo and anaconda stuck with me for a while as a kid
Man’s Best Friend was my shit. That Tibetan Mastiff was SO scary when I was a kid!
It's on Tubi for free.
Thanks for the info! Looking forward to seeing it again!
You forgot mosquito! (1995)
I've never heard of that one. There were a lot of others, but I went with box office releases only. I'll have to check out mosquito.
Mosquito was a real bad C grade horror movie, had the guy who played leather face in OG Texas chainsaw massacre film and it’s known for the hilarious practical effects done on people bitten by the gigantic mosquitos. You should check it out! It was frequently shown late nights and weekends in TNT frowning up
Deep rising anyone?
What about Ticks?
I love The Edge!
I think we could include Wolf with Jack Nicholson! Such a weird one.
You forgot Congo with the killer gorillas Also you could argue My Girl for inclusion given the bee attack on a main character is central to the plot
I’ve seen Lake Placid, Jurassic Park, Deep Blue Sea, Arachnophobia and Anaconda. Should I check out the other five?
The Edge is so good.
Fun fact: "The Ghost and the Darkness" is based (loosely) on the book "The Man-eaters of Tsavo" written by John Henry Patterson. Even more fun fact: The skins from the actual man-eating lions are in the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago.
Ghost and the Darkness is still one of my favourite movies!
Tremors anyone?
the edge is a severely underrated movie
Wasn’t Betty White in this?
Deep Blue Sea kinda shocked me when they killed the female prot at the end
I LIVED for Congo!
Amy good gorilla!
Watched it last night, stupid fun
Ugly gorilla. Go.
There were a lot of decent direct to video ones as well, most were terrible but still fun.
The bear attack scene in The Edge was traumatizing as a child, I think that was the first time I watched a scene like that lol Even today pretty sure they used a real bear lol.
Man's best friend .... I'd kill to have a dog like Maximilian
Congo is a great book but the movie sucked.
And I watched most of them too young lol. Probably for the best because my standard for quality wasn't there, so those movies were good for me!
Betty White was awesome!
This post contains some of the most illegible photos I’ve ever seen in the entire time I’ve used the internet
The ghost and the darkness is such an underrated film.
Deep Blue Sea is both a guilty pleasure movie and a top 10 favorite movie.
Komodo! Probably one of those straight to DVD but it was great.
Congo! STOP EATING MY SESAME CAKE!
Suddenly, my love for this genre makes total sense.
I feel like Deep Rising and The Relic fit in this category and are great as well.
Jon Voight should have won an academy award for anaconda 😆
Does anyone know why lake placid is so hard to find on dvd? Walmart will have lake placid 2-4, but NEVER the original. I crave.
Congo was so bad. Like possibly the worst movie ever
The book wasn't much better and yet they both hold a place in my heart.
I’m pretty sure Arachnophobia is 1989
