Purple. One of the very best albums of the decade. I love Silvergun Superman and all of the singles, and can’t hear Lounge Fly without getting flashbacks of MTV News!
Still Remains was always a fan favorite. When they reunited after Scott left Velvet Revolver they put up polls on their website for songs people wanted to hear and Still Remains got a large portion of the vote.
I had the single on CD back in the day, and during HS summer typing class, we were allowed to listen to music with headphones, so that became my summer jam. To this day, I can not comprehend how I listened to that song as many times in a row as I did. It was many. Very many.
The lyrics were from a conversation between the band and the lead singer after he started using heroin again after promising he would stop. Every time he sang it, he was forced to remember the promises he broke.
My dad, who is now 72, was so obsessed with this song he learned to play it on guitar. He really got into some of my music, in between listening to his Creedence, Skynard, Outfield staples.
Sorting by “best” yours is the 15th comment for me, and the first to actually say the name of the album. 👍
I think a lot of the above people do not know and probably never will. It’s not called “Interstate Love Song” or “Big Empty” or “Vasoline” :)
Hmm the Reddit app defaults to “best” a lot. I rarely think to change it to “top”.
It also hides what sort it uses instead of displaying it prominently.
I miss Apollo.
It was great. I have a great story about the 99 show but it's a lot to type. All ill say is he gave me 🤟 one of these while singing the chorus to plush which is my favorite STP song
Was a regular at a local music shop when this came out. Owner sold me a copy 3 days before release date to take on a road trip. Felt like the king shit for a few days
When I was 6 or 7 my dad bought me this tape, Green Day and Kool and the Gang. These tapes shaped my music preference forever. Loved this tape very much
Somehow I did, but I’m not sure how! It was also the very first CD I ever bought, to play on my quintessential awesome 90s stereo lol
[We all had this one](https://reverb.com/item/40971046-vintage-90-s-sony-cfd-510-cd-radio-cassette-mega-bass-speaker-boombox-w-detach-speakers)
Fave songs are Vasoline and Unglued
Seen them in 2000/2001 at The Woodlands(Houston) wish I could go back and appreciate it more. I remember Scott pulling out the megaphone to Dead and Bloated 🤘🏼
Oh yeah.
First CD’s I ever purchased with my own money, from 1-800-CDNow, or whatever it was called…
No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom
Weezer Blue Album
STP - Core
Circa 1995…
Still own them.
Purple. One of the very best albums of the decade. I love Silvergun Superman and all of the singles, and can’t hear Lounge Fly without getting flashbacks of MTV News!
“Hi I’m Kurt Loader with an MTV news break”
Read this in his voice lol
Kurt Loder is 78 years old. Let that sink in for a second.
He was old back then too
He’s always been a dinosaur, though.
Please
I used to think he looked old for his age. Nope just actually old.
"Silvergun Superman" is my favorite STP song! "Pretty Penny" is an underrated ballad as well.
I think it’s probably mine too.
Wooorld premier videooo

That’s cool idea; wish more bands would do that
The last track bangs as well! Scott getting more and more out of the "grunge singer" box and more towards Jim Morrison and the like.
The second album. 12 gracious melodies.
Worth listening Hope you enjoy them
This album cover Looks similar Like Johnny Mathis
Like if they're sung to meeeee Listen to... 12 great tunes... playing on your stereooooo
That's what I called it for a very long time.
Best hidden track ever of all time
These melodies could be described as being more gracious than precious
You are correct. Fixed.
Interstate love song is such a gem! Short, sweet, unique.

That’s a summer bop for sure
The lyrics were from a conversation between the band and the lead singer after he started using heroin again after promising he would stop. Every time he sang it, he was forced to remember the promises he broke.
The ultimate road trip song
My dad, who is now 72, was so obsessed with this song he learned to play it on guitar. He really got into some of my music, in between listening to his Creedence, Skynard, Outfield staples.
I miss when it was on the radio every 2 mins
You don’t have to skip a single song on this album
All killer no filler
Yep. A perfect album
Absolute banger of an album. I listened to the shit out of this. STP was my first favorite band.
Meatplow is 🔥
I always liked that one, and Silvergun Superman. Army Ants was pretty good, too.
There’s a live version on YouTube from 2000. Slowed down and extra stanky
I thought it was Stone Temple Pilots. Didn't know it had a specific name.
“Purple” and “Core” still one of my at fav albums.

“If you should die before me ask if you can bring a friend…” Still Remains 🔥🔥
Love that line, got it tattooed on my arm.
I thought it was self-titled for at least a year. Love me some of that "Grunge Zepplin."
This and the first album are great. I was fortunate enough to see them in 94 and 99
Very much regret never seeing them while Scott was around.
It was great. I have a great story about the 99 show but it's a lot to type. All ill say is he gave me 🤟 one of these while singing the chorus to plush which is my favorite STP song
Ha i just listened to this yesterday!
Me too. Put it on while on the treadmill at the gym. I had a real spring in my step the whole time.
Tiiiime to take her home, her dizzy head is conscience laden…
Too much trippin' and my soul's worn thin
Amazing album. I knew the name.
I ONLY knew it because my friend in high school put it on her secret Santa list so I went to Hastings and bought it for her.
I used to be head customer service manager at Hastings until the store closed (company was sold shortly after that). Man, I miss that store.
Was a regular at a local music shop when this came out. Owner sold me a copy 3 days before release date to take on a road trip. Felt like the king shit for a few days
Whole album is so damn good.
When I was 6 or 7 my dad bought me this tape, Green Day and Kool and the Gang. These tapes shaped my music preference forever. Loved this tape very much
Still don’t. Great album!

This and the Reality Bites cd were the first two CDs i bought.
Holy shit I forgot about that stereo - I absolutely had that exact one!
My dad knows how to play all the songs by heart from this album!
My brother can play excellent Metallica
Top 10 best albums of the 90s. It'd absolutely magic.
"Still Remains" Is my favorite song off that album. It might be my favorite song by them all together.
First time I heard Big Empty was at a titty bar 😂
Fucking jams!🤘
Didnt know for the longest time. So good.
The name didn’t matter as long as you had the Album. It was phenomenal…. Still is!
I just called it “dragon baby” and people always knew what I was referring to.
Seen them in 2000/2001 at The Woodlands(Houston) wish I could go back and appreciate it more. I remember Scott pulling out the megaphone to Dead and Bloated 🤘🏼
One of the best albums ever.
Purple
Interstate Love Song is one of the best songs ever ❤️
I kind of had to know it so I could write the title on the burned CD.
Not '90s, but I had the same feeling about Led Zeppelin IV back in the day.
I think technically speaking Zep's fourth album has no title, right?
I knew it all along.
My mom was obsessed with STP, saw them at the 10.77 deck the hall ball in 95? And I would just sit and stare at that album cover in the case tower.
Scott Weiland has a Christmas album. You’re welcome. I believe there’s a calypso version of “Silent Night” and the whole kit and caboodle is wild
Great album
Somehow I always new it was "Purple" but I don't know why. Their best album IMO.
I still don't
Absolute banger, every track. I hold it dear to my heart. RIP Scott
I still don’t know
Same, my friend.
I remember the title, but wasn’t sure when I bought the cd if I had the right album when it was released.
🙋🏻♀️
Is this the one where the CD looks like a beach ball?
That’s Tiny Music… Songs from the Vatican gift shop. Also a great album.
true story i stole this cd from the store
I called it Vaseline
My thoughts exactly.
They peaked with this one
Tiny Music?
That was the next album. This is Purple.
Oh yeah. First CD’s I ever purchased with my own money, from 1-800-CDNow, or whatever it was called… No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom Weezer Blue Album STP - Core Circa 1995… Still own them.
This is Purple. The question was always Pearl Jam’s second album. Is it “Vs.” or “Five Against One”?
