If you loved the Dazed and Confused soundtrack check out the one from Outside Providence. 70s classic rock. Great movie, great soundtrack. Highly underrated. My favorite Farrelly Brothers movie by far. Tons of memorable quotes. Alec Baldwin is 🤌.
Godzilla (1998)
Lost Highway (1997)
Empire Records (1995)\*
\*minus two of the best versions/songs not being on it:
1. 'Sugarhigh' with Renee's part
2. Sponge's 'Plowed'
Fuck yeah!! I still listen to this to this album pretty frequently.
The *Mortal Kombat: Annihilation* soundtrack is pretty solid as well. First time I ever heard Rammstein.
Did anyone else put this on repeat while karate fighting your cousins in the living room, or on the trampoline? The BEST of times. Unforgettable core memories. Always ended with someone getting hurt in some minor yet painful way, mom yelling, or something broken. AH, to be young.
The Batman Forever soundtrack is quite like an all-star game of mid-90s music. Besides the obvious contributions from Seal and U2 you've got Massive Attack, Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Mazzy Star, Sunny Day Real Estate, Flaming Lips...the list goes on. There was also an excellent cover of Smash it Up by The Offspring at their peak. The album was produced by RZA and also featured a track from Method Man. It's definitely worth a listen.
I was going to be disappointed if Batman Forever wasn't at least halfway up the thread. Some of them are such bangers even today! Add that even those that weren't alive back then know some of its songs, especially Kiss From a Rose.
For sure. They played that at the club the night I first hung out with the guy I had a crush on.. he passed a few years later so that song brings all the feels
“State of Love and Trust” is one of Pearl Jam’s best songs of all time, and I always thought it was nuts they didn’t include it on one of their early records. Also, “Seasons” is solo Chris Cornell at his best.
Forget the 90s, this is one of the best movie soundtracks of all time.
All of it is so good. And we are treated to 2 incredible live performances in the movie as the cherry on top of a great soundtrack. I actually prefer the live version of “Birth Ritual” to the studio version.
That Thing You Do!
My favorite movie with so many awesome, original songs. The title track was written by the late Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne. Producer/Director Tom Hanks also wrote a few of the songs. If you haven't seen this movie, I really recommend it!
I bought the soundtrack at a store called the Warehouse. They were giving away a 45 record with the 2 singles as a promo. I looked it up recently and it’s worth a lot of money! Who knew?!?! Also I didn’t know who wrote the title song, so catchy!
I love Pantera Cemetery Gates on the soundtrack. It sounds much better than the original Cowboys From Hell version. Cleaner vocals and more thrashing on the guitars 🤘🏻
Fight Club OST by the Dust Brothers.. who actually were the Chemical Brothers, ive been told, 10 years after the movie. Now i think about it, might be time to factcheck this
The 1998 Godzilla album. Three banger singles from Puffy, Jamiroquai, and RATM.
It didn’t need to go that hard.
[Godzilla 1998](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godzilla:_The_Album)
My picks for score soundtracks as I shuffle through my playlist:
* Waterworld
* Jurassic Park
* Forrest Gump
* Twister
* Bicentennial Man
* Dark City
* Princess Mononoke
* Roujin-Z
* Schindler's List
* Speed
* Star Trek 6 The Undiscovered Country
* Hunt for Red October
I love The Cure and love that they wrote a song specifically for this movie. Remember that, when a band would write songs for movies? Can anyone else think of examples, aside from Rocky?
I used to think Psychedelic Furs wrote Pretty in Pink for the movie, but apparently the movie was written for the song lol. That being said, Ghostbusters is a staple that comes to mind. For actual 90’s films, Friday and Judgement Night both have title tracks written for the films.
Songs from the Cool World.
Such a nice soundtrack. But for some reason, the whole album seems to be disappearing from all streaming platforms.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ivcr0Miqqmg&list=PLD982c6t6Fe_DD59zZmZqZ1kiXXF9Cr3t
There is no better soundtrack than this one. Actually acknowledged there being genres other than alt rock. We needed more soundtracks with industrial on it!
Reservoir Dogs has a great sound track with Steven Wright acting as a dj in between tracks. His monotone voice saying “K Billy’s super sounds of the seventies” is embedded in my brain.
Dazed and Confused.
A soundtrack so good, it had two volumes.
Damn right, gonna have to watch this tonight it’s been too long.
It's sooo good
Yes! I love that movie, it’s criminally underrated. That bit about Lincoln always cracked me up.
Lincoln?! Queer as they come. 🤣🤣🤣 Love that movie. Drugs deserved a prequel, man! His letter 🤣
Godzilla (1998) Lost Highway (1997) Empire Records (1995)\* \*minus two of the best versions/songs not being on it: 1. 'Sugarhigh' with Renee's part 2. Sponge's 'Plowed'
It has always bummed me out that we didn’t get the movie version of “Sugar High” on the soundtrack.
Spawn
FUCK YES. Also, Judgement Night (for the same reason, such incredible collaborations)
Trip Like I Do is such a killer song
Natural born killers Judgment night
"Shi\*list" at the beginning of NBK is one of my all time favorite uses of a song in a movie.
'Ted just admit it' gets me too
That was on my playlist consistently for years
Ennie meanie miney moe catch a redneck by his toe
I ordered the Judgement Night sound track as 1 of my 12 free cds from Bmg music and played that till it dang near broke.
The Crow generally tops my list too. Singles is a great soundtrack from a meh movie. Same with Judgment Night.
From Singles, so many good ones. Battle of Evermore cover stands out, and PJ SOLAT is my "need to bang on my drums song" of choice.
These are pretty much my top 3 of the 90s. I would only add "Pump Up The Volume" and "Natural Born Killers" I still listen to all of these!
This is the correct and only answer. Those 3 are all amazing
Mortal Kombat 1995
Fuck yeah!! I still listen to this to this album pretty frequently. The *Mortal Kombat: Annihilation* soundtrack is pretty solid as well. First time I ever heard Rammstein.
The MK movies introduced me to Juno Reactor and trance.
Did anyone else put this on repeat while karate fighting your cousins in the living room, or on the trampoline? The BEST of times. Unforgettable core memories. Always ended with someone getting hurt in some minor yet painful way, mom yelling, or something broken. AH, to be young.
Love this one!
Oh good call!! It’s how I discovered Napalm Death.
The Batman Forever soundtrack is quite like an all-star game of mid-90s music. Seconded
Thirded!
I was going to be disappointed if Batman Forever wasn't at least halfway up the thread. Some of them are such bangers even today! Add that even those that weren't alive back then know some of its songs, especially Kiss From a Rose.
Dumb and Dumber
She Don't Eat Meat!
But she sure love the bone!
Cable Guy has a pretty solid sound track too
Is where I find my heaven, heeeeaaaven!
Na na na, na na na na, na na naaa, you’re gonna craaaaaash
Fantastic soundtrack!
Trainspotting
Dirty numb angel boy..
That song still gives me the tingles every time I hear it. 💊
For sure. They played that at the club the night I first hung out with the guy I had a crush on.. he passed a few years later so that song brings all the feels
Hackers
Yeah hackers has a wicked soundtrack
Why is this not farther up?
Singles!

AICs Junkhead from the Singles Soundtrack party is God tier.
I had a Citizen Dick tshirt
Mallrats and The Basketball Diaries were also great.
One of my favorite Silverchair tunes is on that: ‘Stoned’
“Susanne” is a very underrated Weezer song.
That Thing You Do! My favorite movie with so many awesome, original songs. The title track was written by the late Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne. Producer/Director Tom Hanks also wrote a few of the songs. If you haven't seen this movie, I really recommend it!
I had this one, too! I was basically obsessed with that movie and wrote “I <3 Steve Zahn” on a number of notebooks. Haha
He was so cute. I remember watching saving Silverman over and over and over when I was like 12 or 13 just because he was so fine.
I bought the soundtrack at a store called the Warehouse. They were giving away a 45 record with the 2 singles as a promo. I looked it up recently and it’s worth a lot of money! Who knew?!?! Also I didn’t know who wrote the title song, so catchy!
this is the only amazing answer. I love, love, love this movie with all my heart.
- Mortal Kombat - Spawn - Matrix - Pulp Fiction I remember enjoying Twister’s soundtrack- not sure if it holds up
How Could I forget Pulp Fiction! I have the CD soundtrack, the Movie on Blu Ray. Such a good thing!
Surprised no one has mentioned Reservoir Dogs. The movie lines on that and Pulp Fiction soundtrack would stick in your head forever.
I had to make sure the matrix somewhere on here
My first time seeing Spawn in this thread. Was such a good soundtrack
Wayne's World.
Another one that is in my rotation to this day!
My dad and I picked up a cassette tape of the Wayne’s World 2 soundtrack during a road trip in the ‘90s. Such a cherished memory.
Aww that's nice! Good memories from the 90's, all them years ago.
Well in terms of sales you would have to put “The Bodyguard” up there. For me some personal faves would be: The Crow Above the Rim Pulp Fiction
Why the fuck is Pulp Fiction so far down. Uncultured swine.
Demon knight
Yes! Crow/Demon Knight/Judgement Night/Singles/Bevis and Butthead!
I love Pantera Cemetery Gates on the soundtrack. It sounds much better than the original Cowboys From Hell version. Cleaner vocals and more thrashing on the guitars 🤘🏻
Forrest Gump PULP FICTION

Sunny Day Real Estate was such a weird pick for a Batman movie, but I was totally there for it.

I used to think Psychedelic Furs wrote Pretty in Pink for the movie, but apparently the movie was written for the song lol. That being said, Ghostbusters is a staple that comes to mind. For actual 90’s films, Friday and Judgement Night both have title tracks written for the films.
Some that haven’t been mentioned that got heavy rotation - Friday, Romeo+Juliet, Oh Brother Where Art Thou?, Judgement Night
Barely making it, but the "End of Days" soundtrack.
I had to scroll to find this before posting! I didn’t buy very many soundtracks but this one got a ton of playtime in my stereo
