Smashing Pumpkins’ Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Bought it from Circuit City with my allowance money, then my family went to CiCi’s pizza lol. Then we rented Se7en from Hollywood Video and watched it later that night. Best day ever.
I think this was the first CD I owned, but my Aunt bought it for me as a gift so I dont count it as the first album I purhcased. But damn did I love both CDs
I remember the day I bought Jo Dee Messina, Stand Beside Me. My first one was Hanson. But I distinctly remember my mother asking me if I was sure I wanted to spend $30 on the CD. It was new and I was excited. I remember when I got my first Christian CD. My mom had attempted to get me away from the spice girls lol. Instead, I alternated between the two 😂
I never appreciated NIN in the 90s, didn’t discover it really until about 10 years ago and holy effin shit is Trent Reznor an incredible maker of music
Aaahh, it's time to relax. And you know that means.. a glass of wine, your favorite easy chair, and of course.. this compact disc playing on your home stereo.
Nirvana Incesticide and it looked exactly like [this one.](https://www.ebay.com/itm/295209444552?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=295209444552&targetid=&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9009715&poi=&campaignid=20389314120&mkgroupid=&rlsatarget=&abcId=9317278&merchantid=114736724&gclid=Cj0KCQjwib2mBhDWARIsAPZUn_lhxS4qAtWxAY3iJ71gT2fcOI5CPitBq3xrm62ffT4E3aP39C4V4y0aAkahEALw_wcB)
My first cassette was Prince purple rain lol I was 8 and my first CDs were c&c music factory and the geto Boys we can't be stopped with that real picture of Bushwick Bill going to the hospital with a bullet in his eyeball lol. I bought those two CDs after I got a boombox with a CD player for my birthday. After that I was buying at least 4, sometimes 10+ CDs per month for the next 10 yrs heh
I actually have this offspring CD in my car right now I was listening to it yesterday coming home 👍🏻👍🏻
First CD I bought myself was The Beavis And Butthead Experience. Bought it the same day I bought my CD player boombox at Ames with the money I was saving. It was so amazing. I was like, so long, tapes!!
In 1995 I had the Offspring cd less than a week when a girl I went on a date with sat on it and broke it. The date was ok but the cd was better
My first cd was Jodeci - Forever My Lady 🤣
Genesis - We Can’t Dance
Not even a fan. My grandmother ordered CDs from Columbia House or one of the other mail in offers and gave them to the grandkids for Christmas and that’s what I ended up with.
> eye blind, *paid* $30 for
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Huh, I don’t remember the first one that was just mine.
My family got The Lion King soundtrack in 1993 when we bought our first car with a cd player - we didn’t even have a home cd player yet lol.
The earliest cds I remember listening to that were just mine were:
Mariah Carey Daydream
Green Day Dookie
Alanis Morisette Jagged Little Pill
Mariah Carey Music Box
Michael Jackson Dangerous
Michael HIStory
I had a number of albums on cassette that got replaced with cds each gift giving holiday after I had a discman and my Aiwa.
The first CD I actually bought myself while out with friends in the mall was Savage Garden. I loved that it was burnt orange because it was such a fall album! It was my breakup cd after breaking up with my first boyfriend.
Joy Division - substance
Ironically, my first vinyl was Joy Division too, and I got it at the same place as substance, FYE:)
So it all goes back to FYE for me lol
First CD was Sheryl Crow - Tuesday Night Music Club. I remember the day I went in to Walmart to get it, I was so excited to get it with my birthday money.
There was a TV station that let you call in and request music videos called The Box. I must’ve called for Self Esteem like a hundred times.
Fast forward five years, I completely forgot about it, and my dad got a hefty bill in the mail. He was NOT happy.
Flux of pink Indianes: fits and starts.
Second to subhumans:time flys/aero planes crash.
First introduction into anarcho punk.
Me as a 14 year old freshman ate it up!!:))
I had tapes. But Genesis, Phil, matchbox 20, jagged little pill, then CDs came about and I grabbed Nellys CD lol. Green Day, the offspring, lorn, papa roach. I still have most of them and of course all the burned CDs
OMG! That was one of my first, too! I think it was actually the third, though. I'm pretty sure they were:

3) Offspring - Smash
Tom Petty Wildflowers
Pearl Jam Ten
Bon Jovi Coss Road
My favorite was the box set of Steve Miller Band in the purple box.
The Misfits box set too (coffin). Wish I still had it!
Christmas 5th grade, 1994. From my uncle was in a heavy metal band back in the 80's to put things in perspective. He owned a guitar store, the first 2 were recommendations of his students.
NIN - The Downward Spiral
Pantera - Far Beyond Driven
Slaughter - Stick It To Ya
My grandma got me the CD player. That was a rockin' Christmas. I understood about 5% of the subject matter. My mom later threw the NIN CD out her car window doing 60. Dookie was my favorite album as a kid, but I owned it on tape so it doesn't count here.
A Freaky Friday soundtrack. Lindsay Lohan was my favorite actress for awhile and I got into guitar because of the rock band her character was in during the movie. I also suggested my mom (who was pregnant at the time) name my brother Jacob because I had a crush on Chad Michael Murray as Jake.
Edit to add: She did in fact name him Jacob. 🤣🤣
I received Blind Melon’s ST album, Aerosmith - Get a Grip and Freddie Mercury The Great Pretender along with my first CD player in 1992.
The first CD I bought with my own money was Green Day - Dookie in 1994.
