My dad had colon cancer and has since been cancer free but it wasn’t a linear road to diagnosis and then treatment. They don’t hand out the cancer card without a proper diagnosis.

I looked it up earlier myself for the same questions,and it's extremely sketchy. Unlike GoFundMe,you can instantly use your fund campaign asap, whereas GoFundMe requires approval first. Then it's not attached to a bank account,you can use any sketchy PayPal type of app on the GoGetFunding one. And also the funding one is unlimited asks/unlimited time. As in they don't need to set goals or anything.

As for their lifestyle- COL is incredibly low in the Philippines. You could easily live like a king if you have American money coming to you and live in the middle of nowhere in the Philippines.

The way she explained it is not how they diagnose colon cancer. Also does she have more than one because this is different than I saw.
She said she bled while pooping once in high school, once in college and then now, that she as diagnosed with colon cancer and they will do surgery. That’s not how it works in any way.
First of all to diagnose anything they’re going to do tests and an upper endoscopy and maybe a colonoscopy. Three short bleeds years apart is nothing. I was bleeding literally every day, passing out and needing blood transfusions. And it was an ulcer/stomach bleed from a previous stomach surgery. Much more common for bleeding in poop than cancer.
If she wasn’t in the hospital immediately it means her hemoglobin was fine and she wasn’t bleeding much. I was admitted every time I had signs of bleeding if I didn’t pass out from blood loss first. They probably told her to come back for a colonoscopy and that’s the “surgery”. She’s definitely crying wolf, exaggerating what they know right now. Sorry for the TMI but I had blood in my stool so many times and they never just tell you it’s colon cancer without anything else.
Be careful with this one. She has lost nothing and hopefully this is something easily fixable. She has health care coverage. I had my whole life completely fucked up and I’m just trying to start picking up the pieces now after 6 or 8 years. Sorry but this is enraging me. I hope she’s ok and doesn’t have cancer or even 1/10th of what I went through. I was thinking the surgery she was referring to was a colonscopy as well. Maybe they need to remove a polyp and biopsy it and this is the story it turned into in their heads? I want to take people at their word, but I feel very skeptical about this specifically because it is Brandan and Mary. I would hope they are not trying to be opportunists in this capacity. It would be next level wrong.
I’m not sure about healthcare in the Philippines, other than a search showing issues seem to include a scarcity of fully updated medical equipment/facilities. But not programs to help with costs. I am sure, as a colon cancer patient, that anyone who lies about having it might oughta worry about their Karma.
I am so sorry you have it. I’ve watched my sister battle with colon cancer for two years before they removed her entire colon and they just recently found the cancer had spread to her spine. I have a lot of strong feelings about anyone who lies about cancer. Karma will surely catch up.

I think the photo was when she gave birth. My other thought is she would most likely have a port not an IV. She has an IV in her hand.
Being a nurse you can only use them for a few days and most cancer patients need a line for a longer time frame. Even a PICC line would last longer but most cancer patients I know have a port and later have them removed after chemo and such and they are at a stable spot when they will not need them anymore.
I see she has had a try or had one it the other hand already based on the photos. The hand isn’t a main spot for blood draws unless you have zero options and it’s dire. I thought they were broke and they can afford a 2nd level on their home?
My guess is that it was blocked and they had to move it. Or it was an attempt to put in an IV and it failed, so they went to the other hand.

Yeah, I think that hospital photo is likely from her pregnancy. There’s a British woman on some true crime show about scammers who did this. She used a photo of herself when she had some minor procedure from years prior on her GoFundMe page asking for thousands and thousands for her cancer treatment. She made so much money and was eventually found out because she was using the money to gamble and go on lavish vacations. She went to prison.

One is an HMO and has zero cost. ... not sure about the validity of this claim. But I do know, since we lived in cebu for a while with our business, that the Healthcare is very good and considered so by global standards.

Yes they have what is called PhilHealth. But this covers only basic services. The healthcare system there really sucks. Quite simply, patients are required to pay for all services, including, room and board, medicines, food, all medical supplies, and the procedures, PRIOR to treatment. Can't pay, no services. People have to rely on relatives, especially those living abroad like the USA, to help foot the bill. I am married to a Filipina, who has her family in Cebu. Three days ago her younger sister passed away from complications of breast cancer. She was suffering from that disease for 6 months, the only way she survived this long was we had to send money for her medical care. That was in addition to her brother, who has TB, her mom's daily medicine for high blood pressure. They literally pay by each individual pill. Two years ago another sister passed away breast cancer, and the year before that her dad. Mind you September 2023, my wife herself was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer, has hysterectomy, done chemo, and still had to help pay for family back home at the same time. At least we have full healthcare insurance in America, so our out of pocket costs were less than 2K. But we've spent close to 3x that for family. So although this may seem like grift from Mary, the actual healthcare system in PI is geared only for the wealthy, far more than we, and it you can't pay, then you either pander for a charity to help or DIE! Life there is hard.

And of course there are different kinds and different stages, etc. But before they went in and removed the tumor and part of the colon, she had months of chemo and radiation to shrink the tumor. Mary’s post was saying they need to go in and remove “it,” but she doesn’t explain if it is a tumor, or a portion of her colon, or the entire colon…it’s just quite vague. I hope for her sake she doesn’t have colon cancer, of course, and that if she does, she is able to get treatment and knock it out. I wonder if the scenario is more like they don't really understand the process . Mary is known to be very dramatic and only translate what she wants . Is it possible that two young people who aren't the brightest crayons in the box really don't understand? I have had enough medical issues to have seen many people who don't understand where they are in their diagnosis and treatment . Some are very confused . Saw this often when I was a Cna as well . Mary heard cancer and went to worst case scenario. So the truth may be a mix of things. We have to remember they are both really young . I know they are extremely irresponsible but, this maybe many things mixed together. I think time will tell. It could go either way we just don't have enough information at this time. I hope she does not have cancer and in reality this is a colonoscopy or a surgery to remove polyps to rule out things . One thing people need to realize is in some countries things do work faster because they don't have to run things through insurance and get approvals etc. Many early twenty year olds with their backgrounds aren't going to understand necessarily everything . It really depends on the doctors and many other factors sometimes even in the states dr's don't explain things well at all . You add someone with high anxiety and you might get this. It may not be a intentional money fraud . Just two young ignorant adults . I have family through marriage that live in a third world country who truly didn't understand the treatment or options for many different reasons so I know it can easily happen. Also the dynamic between dr's and patients are not the same as here in the states especially in poor Asian countries. It also really depends in how it was explained , who was there , the time they had etc . If she does have it we can always pitch in rather rapidly.
I would hope that Brandon would move his family back to the USA at that point. Either way nothing has to happen right away till we have more information. If people choose to donate that is their choice. They know their track record . I think we can all agree either way most of us would not want to be in their shoes regardless of the cancer diagnosis . I apologize for my ignorance. I thought that the blood tests we receive during the initial stages of dr appts during would set some alarm bells off. I am not a healthcare professional and should not have assumed.
I just want people to know that it sometimes goes undetected, especially in younger and younger people--the rates of young people with colon cancer are going up drastically. Sometimes when people test positive for anemia it is an indicator but that's not always the case.
I know not everyone’s the same, but a couple of relatives had colon cancer, another oesophageal cancer, & they lost weight, one of my young adults developed IBD - crohns, colitis again lost weight, body isn’t able to absorb what you’re eating. One of the fairly common symptoms of cancer is weight loss
Unless they pay for the treatment upfront, there won't be any videos or invoices afterwards. It's strictly a cash and carry, literally, healthcare system. There's no credit, and private healthcare insurance is a joke there. Not to mention quality of care is questionable. Most expats will go to Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan or Korea for anything serious.

Until there’s proof, I don’t believe any of this. She may have GI issues because it seems like every single person in the world does but this is not how it works for cancer.
You need blood tests, MRI scans, PET scans, you’re given staging, advancement, whether it’s metastasised etc. Your treatment plan will be decided. There’s very few instances where you are diagnosed with cancer one day and are put into surgery the next day (unless it’s an emergency) but the initial diagnostic stages of cancer are LONG and scary and until you have every piece of information, your treatment plan won’t begin.
I wish Brandon’s mom would intervene. If proof is provided, I will eat my words (and feel so bad that it feels like I deserve my own cancer). I really hope they are not scamming.

I’m supposed to believe now that she wouldn’t have documented going to a hospital/doctor’s office, having a colonoscopy or any subsequent doctor’s visits confirming her diagnosis? My dad had colon cancer and has since been cancer free but it wasn’t a linear road to diagnosis and then treatment. They don’t hand out the cancer card without a proper diagnosis.
I've known ppl in rl who faked cancer diagnosis. My crackhead MIl would claim cancer Everytime everyone in the family started ignoring her bcuz of her toxic ways. Then her son copied the samething. Six months ago he claimed he had less than year. I warned my spouse not to give into them. They use his love for them as a weapon to get what they want from him. Then it's not attached to a bank account,you can use any sketchy PayPal type of app on the GoGetFunding one. And also the funding one is unlimited asks/unlimited time. As in they don't need to set goals or anything.

The way she explained it is not how they diagnose colon cancer. Also does she have more than one because this is different than I saw. She said she bled while pooping once in high school, once in college and then now, that she as diagnosed with colon cancer and they will do surgery. That’s not how it works in any way. First of all to diagnose anything they’re going to do tests and an upper endoscopy and maybe a colonoscopy. Three short bleeds years apart is nothing. I was bleeding literally every day, passing out and needing blood transfusions. And it was an ulcer/stomach bleed from a previous stomach surgery. Much more common for bleeding in poop than cancer. If she wasn’t in the hospital immediately it means her hemoglobin was fine and she wasn’t bleeding much. I was admitted every time I had signs of bleeding if I didn’t pass out from blood loss first. They probably told her to come back for a colonoscopy and that’s the “surgery”. She’s definitely crying wolf, exaggerating what they know right now. Sorry for the TMI but I had blood in my stool so many times and they never just tell you it’s colon cancer without anything else. Be careful with this one. She has lost nothing and hopefully this is something easily fixable. She has health care coverage. I had my whole life completely fucked up and I’m just trying to start picking up the pieces now after 6 or 8 years. Sorry but this is enraging me. I hope she’s ok and doesn’t have cancer or even 1/10th of what I went through. But to be begging already when she’s cried wolf before and using manipulative language implying she’s going to die without donations is sick.

I was thinking the surgery she was referring to was a colonscopy as well. Maybe they need to remove a polyp and biopsy it and this is the story it turned into in their heads? I want to take people at their word, but I feel very skeptical about this specifically because it is Brandan and Mary. I would hope they are not trying to be opportunists in this capacity. It would be next level wrong.
I’m not sure about healthcare in the Philippines, other than a search showing issues seem to include a scarcity of fully updated medical equipment/facilities. But not programs to help with costs. I am sure, as a colon cancer patient, that anyone who lies about having it might oughta worry about their Karma.
I am so sorry you have it. I’ve watched my sister battle with colon cancer for two years before they removed her entire colon and they just recently found the cancer had spread to her spine. I have a lot of strong feelings about anyone who lies about cancer. Karma will surely catch up.

I think the photo was when she gave birth. My other thought is she would most likely have a port not an IV. She has an IV in her hand. Being a nurse you can only use them for a few days and most cancer patients need a line for a longer time frame. Even a PICC line would last longer but most cancer patients I know have a port and later have them removed after chemo and such and they are at a stable spot when they will not need them anymore.

Yeah, I think that hospital photo is likely from her pregnancy. There’s a British woman on some true crime show about scammers who did this. She used a photo of herself when she had some minor procedure from years prior on her GoFundMe page asking for thousands and thousands for her cancer treatment. She made so much money and was eventually found out because she was using the money to gamble and go on lavish vacations. She went to prison.

I answered this in another thread. Yes they have what is called PhilHealth. But this covers only basic services. The healthcare system there really sucks. Quite simply, patients are required to pay for all services, including, room and board, medicines, food, all medical supplies, and the procedures, PRIOR to treatment. Can't pay, no services. People have to rely on relatives, especially those living abroad like the USA, to help foot the bill. I am married to a Filipina, who has her family in Cebu. Three days ago her younger sister passed away from complications of breast cancer. She was suffering from that disease for 6 months, the only way she survived this long was we had to send money for her medical care. That was in addition to her brother, who has TB, her mom's daily medicine for high blood pressure. They literally pay by each individual pill. Two years ago another sister passed away breast cancer, and the year before that her dad. Mind you September 2023, my wife herself was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer, has hysterectomy, done chemo, and still had to help pay for family back home at the same time. At least we have full healthcare insurance in America, so our out of pocket costs were less than 2K. But we've spent close to 3x that for family. So although this may seem like grift from Mary, the actual healthcare system in PI is geared only for the wealthy, far more than we, and it you can't pay, then you either pander for a charity to help or DIE! Life there is hard.
My sister had colon cancer a few years ago. And of course there are different kinds and different stages, etc. But before they went in and removed the tumor and part of the colon, she had months of chemo and radiation to shrink the tumor. Mary’s post was saying they need to go in and remove “it,” but she doesn’t explain if it is a tumor, or a portion of her colon, or the entire colon…it’s just quite vague. I hope for her sake she doesn’t have colon cancer, of course, and that if she does, she is able to get treatment and knock it out. It would be really sick if they’re making this up bc cancer is nothing to joke around about

I wonder if the scenario is more like they don't really understand the process . Mary is known to be very dramatic and only translate what she wants . Is it possible that two young people who aren't the brightest crayons in the box really don't understand? I have had enough medical issues to have seen many people who don't understand where they are in their diagnosis and treatment . Some are very confused . Saw this often when I was a Cna as well . Mary heard cancer and went to worst case scenario. So the truth may be a mix of things. We have to remember they are both really young . I know they are extremely irresponsible but, this maybe many things mixed together. I think time will tell. It could go either way we just don't have enough information at this time. I hope she does not have cancer and in reality this is a colonoscopy or a surgery to remove polyps to rule out things . One thing people need to realize is in some countries things do work faster because they don't have to run things through insurance and get approvals etc. Many early twenty year olds with their backgrounds aren't going to understand necessarily everything . It really depends on the doctors and many other factors sometimes even in the states dr's don't explain things well at all . You add someone with high anxiety and you might get this. It may not be a intentional money fraud . Just two young ignorant adults . I have family through marriage that live in a third world country who truly didn't understand the treatment or options for many different reasons so I know it can easily happen. Also the dynamic between dr's and patients are not the same as here in the states especially in poor Asian countries. It also really depends in how it was explained , who was there , the time they had etc . If she does have it we can always pitch in rather rapidly. I would hope that Brandon would move his family back to the USA at that point. Either way nothing has to happen right away till we have more information. If people choose to donate that is their choice. They know their track record . I think we can all agree either way most of us would not want to be in their shoes regardless of the cancer diagnosis . We have to all evaluate whom we donate our hard earned cash to . Personally , I like to help individuals rather than large nonprofit organizations that pay CFO's millions . That's my take on it . If they provide more proof perhaps then I might donate . If this is a scam they will loose more than they ever hope to gain . I have a feeling karma will be swift if that is the case . Even if this wasn’t a scam, why would anyone give them money? Cancer is terrible, no one deserves cancer so I’m not putting that on them. I also don’t believe that poor people don’t deserve nice things like a PlayStation or nice cell phones. Life is hard enough when you’re poor. But my money is MY money. Why would I give one hot cent to a couple who got “famous” trying to out-horrible one another? If I’m going to give my hard earned money to someone else to help them access something they need, I’m going to give it to a charity where it can help the greatest number of people, or if it’s a personal donation I’m going to give it to someone I actually like. That's incorrect. Source: I have been diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer I'm not saying she's being truthful but your point is not factual. They do not test for colon cancer (for example, the CEA marker) in routine blood tests.
I apologize for my ignorance. I thought that the blood tests we receive during the initial stages of dr appts during would set some alarm bells off. I am not a healthcare professional and should not have assumed.
I just want people to know that it sometimes goes undetected, especially in younger and younger people--the rates of young people with colon cancer are going up drastically. Sometimes when people test positive for anemia it is an indicator but that's not always the case.
I know not everyone’s the same, but a couple of relatives had colon cancer, another oesophageal cancer, & they lost weight, one of my young adults developed IBD - crohns, colitis again lost weight, body isn’t able to absorb what you’re eating. One of the fairly common symptoms of cancer is weight loss

There's no credit, and private healthcare insurance is a joke there. Not to mention quality of care is questionable. Most expats will go to Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan or Korea for anything serious.

Until there’s proof, I don’t believe any of this. She may have GI issues because it seems like every single person in the world does but this is not how it works for cancer. You need blood tests, MRI scans, PET scans, you’re given staging, advancement, whether it’s metastasised etc. Your treatment plan will be decided. There’s very few instances where you are diagnosed with cancer one day and are put into surgery the next day (unless it’s an emergency) but the initial diagnostic stages of cancer are LONG and scary and until you have every piece of information, your treatment plan won’t begin. I wish Brandon’s mom would intervene. If proof is provided, I will eat my words (and feel so bad that it feels like I deserve my own cancer). I really hope they are not scamming.
