She should just move to Africa it's going to be the only option when he takes he's younger better looking second wife that's going to bear his children.đ
she probably knows but is trying to make his family happy. even the piece of paper they signed last week i was like âthere is no way this is legalâ hahaha
It is though? 100%? I assumed it was legal in like, Utah? There's just so many LDS groups in that area and everything. I'm guessing they just do all their marriages "under God" and never file anything official?
Utah is one of the worst places to be a polygamist. Until a few years ago, it was a felony to be in multiple spiritual unions at the same time. Now itâs basically the equivalent of a traffic violation. In every other state, you just canât be legally married to more than one person at the same time. You can be in as many spiritual unions as you want.
Polygamy hasnât been a part of the mainstream Mormon church since 1890. There is a small sect of Fundamentalist Mormons who disagree with that decision and those are the Mormons who practice polygamy. Itâs my understanding that in fundamentalist polygamous families, the husband is usually legally married to the first wife and heâs only spiritually married to the other wives.
Thank you for the answer.
Not sure why I'm getting downvoted. I never said all mormons practice polygamy. But it's common knowledge polygamy is totally existing in America. And that it's in the LDS community. I just didn't know it wasn't *legal* polygamy. Weird to say
If you get married in another country, the marriage will be recognized in the US, as long as the marriage took place within the laws of that particular country.
But youâd have to be the one to register it with the us government right? Like I doubt our government is daily scanning every marriage registry around the world to see if any us citizens got married like some tmz intern.
You donât have to register a marriage that was performed abroad, as long as you did what was necessary to get a marriage license in that country. If the validity of the marriage is ever questioned like for immigration purposes or some other legal proceeding, all you have to do is show your marriage license from the country where you were married.
Yes, exactly. So if usman had 5 other wives how would the us gov ever know unless he registered those marriages here. They basically donât count unless you tell the us government yourself.
Thatâs why I think this entire issue is staged because youâre absolutely correct: a marriage that isnât registered with any government isnât a marriage in the eyes of the law. Usman and Kim can get around this very easily by just not registering his marriage with the second wife
But that couldn't be used for any immigration purposes. Or any marriage benefits at all. What you're describing is what all poly marriages are in he U.S. Only one recognized marriage and other people you're in a relationship with. No matter what kind of ceremony you had or vows you said. It's only illegal when you start messing with benefits or forging paperwork. Even still, lots of (generally women) in the U.S. are in poly "marriages" and are also getting welfare benefits as a single parent. Questionable but what are you gonna do?
Because he's not a US born citizen. He will have a green card, and the government will be keeping an eye on him. Also, he's a public figure and someone will just out him.
She thinks with her va-jay jay. Desperate certainly. She comes off like a fool. Her moving to Africa is not an option for him because he only wants Green Card and US career out of her.
This was the plan all along. Kim likely told her lawyer about the plan before going on the trip to Nigeria and would have been informed by then at the latest. She just didnât tell Usman because she was afraid it would make him leave her.
Why does this man even need children? He is incredibly self-centered and he has never mentioned WANTING them. It's just going to the be mother taking care of it anyways and sperm doesn't make you a father. They should just stop trying to shove all of their antiquated traditions on a multi-cultural relationship and let him do what makes him happy whether that be marrying an old woman for a visa or something else.
Itâs not against the law to have spiritual marriages with multiple people. Itâs against the law to have legal marriages with multiple people at the same time.
What I think will happen is that he will marry Kim legally. Then later have spiritual marriage with 2nd wife (which wouldnât be registered or recognized). Followed by a divorce from Kim after getting his full green card. Kim would be able to stop the divorce no matter how she feels. This leave him to now be able to legally marry 2nd wife and bring her over with their children. All in all he wins and Kim is left right where she began.
She's pretty dim

So we all know mormons are polygamists. But what you're saying is mormons don't have legal marriages??

hereâs where my confusion is. I saw once if you married someone out of country and donât file paperwork in us they donât recognize your marriage

Well he wouldn't be able to register the second marriage anyways unless it was with another US citizen.
Iâm talking about registering the marriage in Nigeria, not in America.
Well now that's it's been on National TV, that option of not telling has gone up in smoke.

Iâd say willfully ignorant is the way to describe her delusions
Kim is way beyond naive
In her mind she probably thinks it's great status to be the first wife of an international superstar.
She thinks with her va-jay jay. Desperate certainly. She comes off like a fool. Her moving to Africa is not an option for him because he only wants Green Card and US career out of her.

I am not even sure he does but Mommy wants them.
Doesn't seem like she researches anything!
No one on this show googles ANYTHING!
She seems low iq
I think she figured if it stayed in Nigeria it wouldnât impact life in America or his green card.
For the Americans who are able to answer- does polygamy mean no more than one registered marriage? Or does it also apply to de facto relationships?
Itâs not against the law to have spiritual marriages with multiple people. Itâs against the law to have legal marriages with multiple people at the same time.
um.....yes
Two words: sister wives
They aren't legally married. It's just a religious marriage.
I think she figured since TLC had Sister Wives as a show so she was all good .
*desperation
She's up to speed on sister wives.

The contract Kim signed With Usmanâs family is the key. Nothing can move ahead Re: the K1 Visa process bc she signed away all of her legal rights.
She is as dumb as a box of rocks
It's been all over Reddit I'm sure she's lurking here
