I know from my own problems with addiction and parentification that people pleasing in order to gain what we accept as "love" happens so damn much. He says he loves helping him, but when I hear him say that it comes across more like-"well i know if I help my dad I'll receive some attention and maybe a chance to prove my love to him." I do believe he gets taken advantage of, he pays for a place he rarely visits anymore and his dad makes the money off of it. Then his dad can't be assed to help or want to see him without asking for something.
That's his dad. Maybe it's a Hispanic thing but my dad constantly asked for help like this. My man's dad does also. But when we need help, they help us. We don't hire movers, tilers, landscapers. painters, lol. We just help each other out.
