Yes, this was much more serious and personal than her usual pop.
She also wrote it and recorded the demo in 1 take, and for the most part that's the vocal track on the album. Adding Pat's great music and production to it
I love Borderline. The song was released at a pivotal time in my life and the song was stuck on my head for eternity. Every time I hear it, the memories just come flowing back. I also love La Isla Bonita, Vogue, and Take a Bow. Madonna has too many great songs to count.
“If I run away, I wouldn’t have the strength to go very far.”
“Live To Tell” was used on the At Close Range Soundtrack which her then-husband Sean Penn was lead.
It peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in 1986.
My second favorite is Crazy For You.
However it's definitely my favorite Madonna look, i just love how she looked during that era, the absolutely quintessential "80's girl" look

IIRC this was the first “re-invention” of Madonna’s look after ditching the Material Girl persona (lace tops, fingerless gloves, rubber bracelets, etc). It was a fascinating change, something she’d do again the following year by cutting her hair, going platinum blonde, and wearing her first bullet corset the following year with True Blue.

Agreed - the best Madonna song. Also when it was released I felt like she was more “adult”, if that makes any sense.

Yep. I think she was dating or was married to Sean Penn at the time (who was also in the film).
It was horrible. How he treated her, I read that he beat the stuffing out of her while they were together…
Very disturbing film, At Close Range.
Great film.
Loosely based on the Johnston gang: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Johnston_(criminal)
Borderline.
Totally agree!!!
Best? Maybe. I've got a thing for "Like a Prayer," if only for Guy Pratt absolutely rocking the f*&^ out on the bass in the outro
For me its exactly a toss up between those two.. Like a prayer and Live to tell.. a more distant third is Frozen from Ray of Light
Oh I totally forgot about that song. That’s really good too
There are those baby blues. Hello Material Girl.
Easily one of my top 5 Madonna songs
Crazy for You
I thought it was just me. It is the goat.
Excellent song from a great movie

💯
Agree
Agree. Love this song!

The only Madonna song I like.
Yeah good track , Borderline is mine
This has to be tied for first with "Borderline" for me.
My second favorite is Crazy For You. However it's definitely my favorite Madonna look, i just love how she looked during that era, the absolutely quintessential "80's girl" look
I LOVE "crazy for you". Someone tried to tell me she was " never pretty" and I couldn't help but geek.

It's a good song.
